This is a wonderful little dessert shop just next to the Chiesa di Santa Lucia alla badia, so if…read moreyou are in Palazzo Arcivescovile you can't miss it! They have 4 different options for Cannoli the plain, lemon, chocolate and pistachio and two sizes Small "piccolo" or Large "grande". I would suggest if you have to wait a while for dinner consider the grande option! Prices start from 2 euros upto 3.5 so it's a fairly good price for a decent Cannoli, I went with the pistachio one in a small size as I didn't want to ruin my appetite.

We were on our way back to our B&B in Siracusa from Ortigia Island. We planned to skip this place…read moreand go to a gelateria closer to where we were staying, so that our goodies wouldn't melt before we got home. But, the crowd here was just so huge that we thought there must be something worth trying here. I'm so glad that we came! The name of this place means "crazy desire" in Italian - Someone correct me if I'm wrong! - And it's not an exaggeration because every single item here with me covetous, and a little bit drooly! In the end I went with a "tartufo," which is a heart of ice cream and ganache wrapped with a chocolate shell. TO DIE FOR. In a little bit of serendipity, as I was asking silly questions about different flavors and gluten, I realized I was chatting with the owner of the place. He talked to me a little bit about the prevalence of celiac disease in Italy - that's why you need to only ask at most places, and they will have a gluten-free substitute for most pastas, pizzas, and even some dessert items! It was just a nice treat to talk to the owner of such a busy place, on a busy night, as two out of towners who just happened to be passing by. He didn't speak much English, so we were speaking in Italian the whole time... But don't let that dissuade you from coming here! If you're in Siracusa, do not miss this place, you won't regret it.

They make everything themselves. The flavors are perfect. You'll find yourself dreaming of the tastes. Craving, even ;)

There was a table outside available just as I approached the place so I was fortunate enough to not have to wait. The space inside is very small and only about 4 small tables on the outside so be prepared to potentially wait. I simply put in my order for the Pesto di Pistachio Pasta and Hugo Spritz and people watched while I waited. The spritz came quickly so I enjoyed the refreshing spritz while waiting for my pasta. When I got my order and took that first bite...pure bliss. The al dente pasta and the subtle pistachio pesto flavor was delicious. Bite after bite and sip after sip, the whole experience on that outdoor table while watching the time pass was relaxing and satisfying. As I dined, I saw more and more people come and wait and I learned they have another location very close by. The waiter would walk them over to that location if they so pleased. The staff mainly speak Italian so be prepared for a language barrier. However, they were all very patient and friendly so no need to worry :)

I highly recommend the gnocchi, it was even amazing cold the next day. The portions are quite large, so great for having leftovers. The gelato is some of the best I've had, (pistachio and vanilla!) and we always have great, friendly service. I think they know us now haha. You can sit outside, and limited inside space. The caffe also has WiFi! Which is very important when you're studying abroad let me tell you. My friend had the burger though and did not like it, so stick to Italian food and you will be happy. HUGE dessert selection, and there is even fresh fruit! Everything is quite reasonably priced.

I was actually shocked how amazing their ice creams looked, they had some of the most amazing flavours I've seen so far in Sicily. Sure it's not like Baskin & Robbins with 101 different flavours but everyone looked wonderful. I went with a large cup (€3.50) wasn't the most expensive and I could have gotten a larger cup but decided to save some room for dinner. I went with chocolate, strawberry and coconut and it was simple epic. I did think about the cheesecake option but stuck to my choices...
