We decided to go with Belak flowers for our November wedding after speaking with a handful of florists. We took a lot of time and research into picking a florist that fit both our vision and budget. We worked closely with Barb she was great to work with, she did not try to upsell and was transparent with pricing. We met with her twice throughout the wedding planning process. She was extremely knowledgeable on which flowers would work best in November. Belak also provided vases and floating candles which was great. She also helped me figure out how to repurpose bouquets to get our moneys worth of it. My bouquet was beautiful even 3 days later. The rest of my florals lasted over a week later. We loved the look of our flowers and we will definitely be ordering them for our anniversaries to come. Our only complaints were the delivery person was supposed to set up the florals but instead tried to just drop them off, thankfully we had a planner who was on top of things. Also the bridesmaids bouquets were supposed to be a bit bigger as they doubled as centerpieces but they were not as big as we had discussed. All and all happy with our flowers and would recommend for any future weddings! read more

I am beyond thrilled with the job that Barb and the staff at Belak Flowers did for our November 2019 wedding at the Waterfall in Claymont, DE. I had an idea of the colors that I wanted, but was clueless about what types of flowers would be in season or would work. Barb was very consultative. After showing her a few photos I had saved for inspiration on Pinterest, and talking about our wedding colors and the type of wedding we were having she was quick to make recommendations of flowers that would be in season and complimentary to our colors - this woman has a FLOWER BIBLE! It's full of photos of what they have previously done, as well as a listing of flowers with little photo examples of each. It's incredible! She was also very helpful in working within our budget for centerpieces - recommending flowers that would not only be in our price range, but look full and gorgeous. I was so excited to see what they came up with and I couldn't be happier! Everything was STUNNING! The bouquets, corsages, boutonnieres, and centerpieces - everyone raved about how gorgeous they were! It's also nice working with someone who has such extensive wedding experience. I shared the fact that my mother gave me a special bouquet charm for the big day, and Barb made a note to ensure my bouquet had extra ribbon so the charm could easily be tied to it on the big day. I was also tickled that when we arrived to our private room at the venue that not only was I stunned at how gorgeous all our flowers were, but there was a note of congratulations with a Tide pen attached. Such a small gesture, but I cannot tell you how much that Tide pen came in handy that night! No one thought to have one in their emergency kit! I would not recommend this business. Though the flowers were beautiful, the owner Barb was very rude and very unprofessional. She left a very rude and very upsetting message on the brides VM the day before the wedding that was very upsetting to the bride . Barb refused to deliver the flowers to where they we supposed to go. She refused to deliver the flowers to the venue at the time they needed to arrive , and did not set the flowers up at the venue as she was supposed to. Barb never apologized . We paid for this service. She refused to refund the delivery and set up fee . She refused to deliver the groom's boutonnière to the grooms house . She delivered the bouquets and boutonnière to the bride's moms house and the bride's mom had to deliver the boutonnières to the guys while in in middle of getting hair and make- up done . I wrote a comment on the Belak Flower web-site and saw a response on the site saying they were concerned about the very poor and unprofessional service for the wedding . They also said they wanted me to call the flower shop and discuss Barb unprofessionalism . That commemt must've beem written by Barb to make it look like they actually were concerned when people read the comments. I called and spoke with someome and they said they would have mangement call me back . No one called back . It's just all BS and automatic comments by Barb the owner . This was a wedding at a beautiful venue and Barb made it very difficult situation with the flowers , and upsetting the bride . Forced to give 1 star. Should be no star ! read more

Easy to use website! I wish I could have added more than one of each balloon type to the birthday bouquet of flowers though! I ordered flowers and balloons for my grandmother's 80th , I'll post pics of the results! I ordered for my mother's birthday as well. My grandmother only had one complaint and that is that the flowers were left with the door man/concierge and not taken up to her apartment directly. Holy smokes... did Belak Flowers come in clutch or what. Let's go back about a week and a half ago, and I called another florist to pick up an orchid arrangement SPECIFICALLY for Valentine's Day. They charged my card, and said I could pick it up whenever. Today's Valentine's Day! So I went to the other florist's website, and they are straight up closed. What... So I searched around, asked for a recommendation from a colleague at work, and he recommended calling Belak Flowers. Wow. I called around noon today, and by 2, the arrangement was already finished and ready to be picked up. Super friendly, and the arrangement is amazing. At least I've learned my lesson now.. Can you give a 0 on yelp? Everything from start to finish with Belak was a nightmare. The owner Barb is the preferred vendor for the Farmhouse weddings. We picked the Farmhouse because the flowers, cake and some other things were included in the overall price. We thought this would be nice because it would reduce some of the planning. Well I was wrong. The flowers took more time, energy and caused so much stress! We had 2 meetings to discuss the flowers that would be included in the table arrangements. The first meeting was good, Barb was nice and I felt like I would have a nice arrangement. Then she provided a quote, for well over a $1000! For flowers that were supposed to be included in the wedding package, it was strange she was trying to up charge me for everything. So we made another appointment and went back to discuss type of flowers, size, cost, etc. Long story short, she would not give me a reasonable quote and also would not provide a sample/picture or description of different types that she could provide for what was included in the package. She kept referring me to the Farmhouse's webpage which had a few pictures of flowers but nothing with roses or the type of flowers I was looking to get. After coming to an agreement on flowers and making quite a few sacrifices, and an additional charge for a basic centerpiece, I decided to get a quote from another florist. I wasn't impressed with Belak's quote (2 lilies, 2 roses, etc.) The other florist was able to provide everything I hoped to have in an arrangement including the lavender roses, white lily and other flowers for less. The flowers I am getting from a different florist will be larger and more full (3 stems of lilies, 5 lavender roses, etc.) The service I received from Belak was awful. She made me feel like what I wanted in terms of a centerpiece was going to be impossible to make. She insulted me by up charging for everything including vases which was not what we discussed. Her and her staff were then rude to my fiance, Mom and friend on two different occasions. First, she gave my Fiance the wrong vases when he went to pick them up to take to the other florist. Then my Mom and friend went and they literally gave them dirty, used vases with glue dots on them and said "we are not doing your flowers so you will have to clean them" After a bit of discussion, rudeness and more negativity, my Mom told them that she was not going to take them home and clean them, and another employee said to come back in an hour and they would take care of cleaning the vases. So after 3 trips to Belak, 2 appointments and them not even doing my centerpieces, the amount of stress and aggravation has been through the roof. If you are thinking of using Belak as a florist for your wedding, you can expect attitude, aggravation and up charges! Please do yourself a favor and never go to this florist. read more

Love this place! A few years ago I was an idiot and forgot to buy holiday flowers for my boyfriend's mom, and they stayed open late just for me. How cool is that? They also handle complicated orders (I want 36 yellow roses, each individually wrapped, tied with a plaid bow) with a smile. On top of the great customer service, their flowers are fresh and long-lasting, with some interesting and unusual items to choose from, too. I have been a loyal customer of Belak Flowers since 2002. When I was planning my wedding, back in 2002, I didn't know much about the local area and didn't have yelp (to my knowledge) back then. I first went to a place called "Brandywine Flowers" and placed my entire floral order for my wedding, from the centerpieces, the bouquets, the cake flowers and my portrait bouquet. My bride-only portraits were 5 months before my wedding. The day my portrait bridal bouquet was delivered I was devastated. Most of my arrangement was wilting. Within a day I contacted the florist and cancelled my entire wedding order and yes, I forfeited my deposit. (BTW - my original florist went out of business a few years later). I arranged for a wedding consultation with Belak just a short time later. When my Mom and I met with Barb, I told her my story of how upset I was with my previous florist and showed her pictures. I was near tears just telling the story! She said that she was able to take on our wedding and we began to plan out my dream wedding flowers. Fast Forward to the morning of my wedding. The house is bustling with my people and activity. I was just finishing dressing when I flowers arrived. Barb's husband (a thousand pardons to not remembering his name!) delivery all the bouquets and insisted on waiting for the bride's approval before he left. My family actually has a picture of my face when I opened the box that contained my bouquet. It was as if Belak Flowers found their way into my mind and pulled out the exact image that I had been dreaming of since I was young. No details left behind. My girls' bouquets were exquisite as were the rest of my wedding flowers from the cake to the centerpieces to the ceremony flowers. Just incredible. Simply Divine. I had also arranged for Belak to send flowers to my Mom, my salon (where my bridal party spent more of the morning) and my bridesmaids to be delivered while we were on our honeymoon as another thank you to them all. I received pictures and again, nothing less than amazing. Since that day, I order all my arrangements through Belak. Stopping in to pick up a forgotten birthday bouquet to ordering large arrangements in celebration of each one of my niece's birthday. To the simple birthday arrangement to elaborate centerpieces for family functions, they also hit the mark. They know their craft and do it with imagination and genuine dedication that comes through with each and every arrangement. I can not say enough about this business. Barb did my flowers for my wedding, and she was phenomenal! She sat down with my family, fiance and I for our first meeting and we talked through everything and looked at different photos. I thought I wanted centerpieces with branches, so Barb put together a sample. And then when I changed my mind, she made a second sample with my new ideas. And she made some changes to make it even more gorgeous! I loved my bouquets as well, and she even included a second boutteniere for my husband for free because she told me that they tend to get smooshed - which was true! It came in handy. My son, after having two wedding dates cancelled due to Covid, decided to just give up on the formal wedding and reception. Belak flowers was our recommended vendor for the affair. We had one appointment to select all of our floral needs. I've made a total of $500 in deposits and phoned them about the cancellation. The owner was willing to return $125 of my money. No contract or discussion of loss of deposit anywhere. Fair? I don't think so. Making a profit of $375 for not supplying any goods is basically robbery during an unavoidable pandemic situation. read more

Belak Flowers was the recommended vendor for my wedding venue. We started off our experience with Belak before COVID-19 began devastating our world. Our first meeting was pleasant and brief. We were given a catalog of flowers to look at, but it was hard to utilize the catalog since it was printed on copy paper with poor coloring and detail. We weren't shown any examples of what we might receive, either. Seeing as this was my first consultation with a florist for such an event, I didn't think much of it. In retrospect, I feel that they could do better to show prospective customers what they will be buying...especially when you consider that, as it turns out, their return policy is dismal. We were never provided with, or required to sign, any contract or return policy. We ended up cancelling our wedding due to COVID. When it came time to notify the florist, we were informed that we would only be refunded 20% of the amount that was put down. That was 80% Belak would keep for about an hour of poor consultation. Again, we were not given any contract, return policy, or instruction as to when we would need to cancel by to receive a full (or even better) refund. Ultimately, working with Belak was defined by blindness. From the beginning, we really didn't know what we were buying or what was expected from us as customers. That is, aside from when to send in our payments by...I wouldn't consider this business customer-friendly for large events such as weddings. I feel communication was lacking at best, and walk away doubting the integrity of those operating this establishment. read more

I have contacted Belak and someone was supposed to get back to me. It has been 3 business days and they haven't, so I am writing this review so that others will not have the same experience as I had. When ordering over the phone, make sure you have the person taking your order repeat it to you, maybe several times. I ordered a funeral/sympathy piece. The phone person said $80-100 was customary for a medium arrangement. As I had requested a customized arrangement with specific flowers and a wicker basket, I thought going up to $150 would make a beautiful arrangement - little did I know that the order was written as $50. You can imagine our disappointment when we arrived at my sister-in-law's viewing to see a piece with so few flowers, although in a medium sized basket. She loved flowers and had a beautiful garden. Her passing was sudden and this error only added to our sadness. I don't understand how the order went through without someone phoning me to confirm - since I did request medium size, specific flowers (not the common carnations/daisys) and wicker - wouldn't someone have caught that what I requested couldn't be done for $50? read more

I ordered the Gracious Lavender Basket delivered to the funeral home on Monday 6/17/13. When I went to the service that evening I was embarrassed! I paid $130.00 for the arrangement and a $10 delivery charge and half of the flowers were missing! I called to tell them and they said that it looked good. Ummm, NO, half the flowers are MISSING. It was supposed to have Matsumoto flowers in it and then they said,"Oh, we didn't have them" ok, I understand but at least put in carnations or something in the place of them. I took a picture and sent it to them. There is approx. 6 roses and 5 carnations and scattered daisies and asters. That's it. By Tues, there were dead flowers in the arrangement already!! I asked if they could look over the picture and reimburse me some or deliver a new arrangement to their house and they said we can only give you back the $10 delivery charge!!!! I can't say enough about the quality and beauty of arrangements from Belak Flowers. The staff are all experts in the field and produce arrangements that are unusual, beautiful and long lasting. They can take an idea and produce something so fabulous that you never would have thought of it yourself! To top it off, they go beyond what I think anyone would do in order to get flowers delivered as quickly as necessary. The shop is a fun place to visit with hundreds of unusual and quirky gifts, modestly priced. Christmas is my favorite time in the shop - everyone in my family knows when I give them a "Belak Gift". Another unusual service they offer is if you want to brouse, they are happy for you to go in the cooler to pick the flowers you want and make your own arrangement and buy the flowers by the stem.
