Taking forever on my claim, car's already been repaired and now it's been under review for over a month. Very slow and every time I ask for an update they keep saying the same BS. I will be switching over to another Insurance company after this claim is done! read more

Stupid and disrespectful. Never purchase their insurance. You only finf out when you have a claim.

This is by far the most dishonest and unprofessional company I have ever dealt with. I cancelled my insurance with Bella Direct over a year and a half ago, yet they kept withdrawing money from my account the entire time. When I called them, they tried to tell me that I had cancelled "only three months ago." When I proved that they had been taking money long before that, they suddenly said, "Oh yes, we took more -- we didn't notice." They lied to me directly on the phone. Even after explaining that I am a single mother and that this money is important to me, they refunded only three months, refusing to return the rest of the payments they continued to take after my cancellation. This company has no integrity, no transparency, and no respect for its customers. I strongly warn everyone: do NOT trust Bella Direct. They will take your money and deny responsibility until you catch them. read more

Worst company ever. Steal your money, provide you no services, increase your insurance even if you have been with them for years.

Worse customer service, scam. Seemingly low orice will increase as they scam you to sign only after you will see they start charging you more without notice or consent. And if you wanna cancel after arguing with rude customer support, they'll charge massive cancelation fee. Avoid at all cost read more

I have an update for my review posted on Mar 9, 2026 - 5 days ago. A customer service representative connected with me after seeing my review. The issue with belairdirect was resolved within 4 days. The outstanding amount was transferred to me yesterday. I am very grateful that there are some people in these big corporations who do the right thing. Thank you! read more

Do not choose this company! they add additional charges and arrange payments without asking and won't even change the date even though you did not authorize anything. they have now cost me $200 extra for extra fees knowing that I cannot pay them. they read off a script and do not know what they are doing. couldn't even help me when I was hit by someone! Update: To Kyle, I called to have this issue resolved and no one was helpful. I spoke to 3 people who all read from a script and basically said they would keep adding charges. So unless you can call me back and fix it, I'm not staying on hold and wasting my time to be told the same thing. read more

Had a horrible experience with Belairdirect renewing my 2025 -2026 coverage. A second payment was charged to my credit card. I went through customer service, complaint to the Privacy Office as customer service said my cc info was not on file. Then HOW did they make a second charge 2 days later. I did NOT do a 2nd payment. They don't even have a reference or confirmation number for the 2nd charge, which are automatically generated when a client makes a payment as confirmation. Their answer: Both payments originated and were initiated outside of belairdirect with client methods: the website and mobile application. The website and mobile app are NOT outside Belairdirect! Privacy Office answer: They recommend for ME to contact Moneris, their 3rd party vendor that processes payments for them, to find out to why THEY charged my credit card. Unless you are paying cash, watch you back account and credit card closely! read more

Rates are too high, and this company is too quick to write off your vehicle with no regard for whether or not you can afford another. If the repair costs are lower than the payout, FIX the thing. The company will save money AND the customer wont have to buy another vehicle. What a waste when the vehicle was driveable and the damage was superficial. read more

I was worried about the reviews when I had an mvc. The agent's were all empathetic and my claim was handled quickly even though I was at fault. In 7 business days my vehicle was payed off and I had another in my possession. I did t even have to tow my vehicle to be locked at as they handled everything. A vehicle rental company was in contact with me immediately after my call with the claims adjuster to set me up with a vehicle while the one in the collision was assesed( once you accept their offer the vehicles supposed to go back but the let me keep it for two extra days).I did the research on the value of my vehicle thoroughly and their offer was fair , being right in the middle. As with every other insurance company I know that their rates will go up over time which is to be expected with or without a claim(it's part of the game) They were legitimately good to me. read more

Been with them 20 years, never needed them for anything so it was fine. I tried to get home insurance and what an absolute nightmare! 3 days, 5 hours, 4 agents and they messed up so bad that now the underwriter needs an appraisal?! But I didn't need it the first day I called. I only called back to give the water heater date. They "couldnt find" a fire hydrant near the house (its 50 feet from the front door), changed dates every phone call, one person was looking at the neighbors house, hung up twice cuz she couldnt work the mic and called me right before close and said well, we are closed soon lol then she locked my account to stop me from proceeding, said she would call at 5, I waited til 630 then had to call and wait on hold for 40 minutes while the texted her (??) To get it unlocked. Then there was an issue with the heat source, which was electric baseboard but since I mentioned the possibility of natural gas to see if that was better she told me it was heated by gas and wouldn't help me? What? How? Its electric. Worst customer service I've ever had. Don't waste your time and if you are with them, get out now before you regret it. I close on my house in a few days, and I could have lost it due to their incompetence. Luckily 3 other companies are jumping at the opportunity to insure this house. read more

Owen is a wonderful rep!! I had 2 other calls from Belair direct reps and immediately was Put off with their tone and cadence. I would recommend dealing with him more than anybody else. Thank you Owen! read more

I have property insurance with Belairdirect for my seasonal trailer park. The trailer was damaged in an ice storm in March and after the park opened in May I filed a claim for damage estimate on May 15. Over 3 months later, I am still waiting for a damage estimate from Belairdirect and my window for getting repairs to my trailer before the park closes in October is narrowing by the day. I have numerous unreturned emails and phone messages and there seems to be an absence of accountability or effective escalation to get this claim addressed. Quite frankly, I am appalled by the level of service provided by this company. read more

Stay away, insurance is something you need to run smooth after you've had an accident or something happen to your home and these clowns are as bad as it gets. I was rear ended hard on July 10th, completely not at fault. Adjuster goes on vacation the following Monday and nothing is happening, broken vehicle sitting in the driveway. I had to fight to get a rental car which was competely inadequate for my needs, several days later of fighting over the phone was given something halfway proper. The body shop that I had to choose was rude, arrogant and obviously sucking on the teet of that insurance money because they dont give a hoot about you or reality. Got my vehicle back still with damages, two weeks by email fighting daily and they just close the book in my face and walk away. Im paying extra to get out early because of how bad they are. Doing my homework on reputable insurance companies and ended up on Yelp for the first time ever. read more

if I could give less than 1 star I would. Home insurance department is unorganized, unprofessional and unethical. 0 star rating. I have currently been on hold for 42 mins without speaking to a rep. I have been a customer for over 20 years..,, clean record zero claims . The worst car insurance company you could be with. In the beginning, they make it seem that everything is going great until you accidentally miss a payment and now you somehow are never back on track. As soon as you have a missed payment, the company blocks you out of the app, which would allow you to see when the next payment would come out of your account. Do they ever try to contact you by email or phone? Never! They choose to contact you by mail, send you 3 of the same letters, and threaten to cancel your policy. Now, you pay the amount so that your policy does not cancel, as well as the fees incurred. You think you are okay now right? Wrong! You are prepared to pay your next month on time when they go into your account UNAUTHORIZED and take out the amount for your policy that you "missed," even though you just paid that amount when they threatened to cancel your policy. What's even better, they choose to pull this unauthorized transaction out of your account 2-3 days BEFORE you are about to pay for the current month! So now, you ask them if they could please move the payment date, as times are hard and insurance policies are not cheap. Their answer? Sorry! You still have to pay that amount on said date. I have called numerous times and also re-iterated that their customer service reps, do not inform you that you are still missing a payment and hence it turns into a money grab. What is the purpose of paying this late fee and recovering your policy for over $400 and yet you still owe a payment? In less than 6 months, you'd pay more than half of your policy for the year! To close this off, this is not a good company. I'd advise that you shop around and be treated with better respect and care for your needs and money. read more

WORSR COMPANY EVER! For insurance I Def DO NOT RECOMMEND! And that joke of an answer I got for my review yesterday, must be the worst job in the world to come online and repeat like a robot the same sentences I've been listening since I've been with this company! What a disgrace of a business! A money grab and absolute disaster! Your workers doesn't even know what they are talking about! You guys only care about that money every month, but when the time comes to protect and care for those who pay your insane fees, you don't care. What a joke of a company read more

If we could leave a zero star review, we would. This is the worst insurance company we've ever dealt with, and frankly one of the MOST unprofessional companies we've ever dealt with as well. Our 2022 vehicle burned to the ground over a month ago, and since then we have had to follow-up every week (sometimes more than once) and the adjuster has called us ONCE. We have been assured she will call back and provide updates or return our calls, and she never does, or she claims she did but there are no voicemails and no record of the call on any of our phones. We have always been timely in our premium payments, we have never made a claim on ANY of the 5 vehicles insured with Bel-Air (which will be cancelled as soon as the current claim is resolved), and the level of service we have received has been abysmal. Every time we call to check the status of the claim, since our adjuster never calls or returns calls, we get a different story about what the status is, we get told that the adjuster will "call back", we get told *there is no customer service department or supervisor we can speak with* unless we wait 24-48 hours for another callback (which shockingly haven't come yet). This is incredibly frustrating and a very POOR level of service under what are already stressful circumstances. This company appears to promote thievery as well, given that they have refused to consider the facts when replacement value came in $13,000+ lower than it should have, and we provided many comparibles that showed the delta to be even higher. When the comparibles were brought up, the adjuster and her supervisor stated that they would not consider the comparibles, and that the payout was the payout. We agreed to the payout they offered since it appeared there was no other course of action, other than involving lawyers, and were told the cheque would be issued and mailed that day. This was one week ago today, and when we called for an update this morning (since the cheque has not yet arrived), we were told there was no cheque and that they were still reviewing the claim. What an unprofessional, frustrating, INCOMPETENT company to deal with. read more

Horrible company. I'm trying to get some help with my insurance and the agent was so rude, I got transferred over to someone who was helpful only for her to transfer me back to the same rude person. DO NOT GET BELAIRDIRECT AS YOUR CAR INSURANCE COMPANY THEY WILL COMPLETELY SCREW YOU OVER!! Was in an accident that was 100% not my fault and my car ended up being a write off. They are screwing me around with trying to get a settlement worth what it would cost me to get the same car or equivalent in my area with same km. I also have to bring my rental back in 2 days, so i will be left without a rental and left without a vehicle and without a cheque to even purchase a vehicle, so i have no way back and forth to work (i work out of town so busing is not an option). When speaking with them and the manager, they just dont seem to care at all and just said this was their policy and theres nothing they will do for me as thats the policy. I tried saying i dont even have a cheque yet to buy a new car as we are negotiating and they said that doesnt matter, i said if i accept your sad offer i still need time to find and purchase a car and they said there was still nothing they could do. So im basically screwed and they dont care. So they dont care if you need the vehicle to get back and forth to work to make money to pay for their insurance and house and food. They dont care if i lose my job or house or starve. They are not on your side even when you are 100% not at fault. What is the point of paying for insurance to have your back when you need them and they basically tell you tough shit not our problem??!! read more

Worst experience with an insurance company ever. I cancelled my home insurance policy after we sold our home, and Belair continued to take payments out on pre-authorized withdrawals for months after being notified. When I spoke with them on the phone, they said I had to provide proof of sale - which was sent by email. They then took more payments out, and said it was their policy that they had to speak on the phone to confirm I wanted the policy cancelled. Absolutely horrific. The agent on the phone was nice enough, but reiterated it's their policy that they have to speak on the phone to cancel - which had already happened. read more

My son is looking to renew his auto insurance and found Belairdirect very reasonably priced. But after seeing all these reviews, I will have to tell him to stay away. Very bad service recieved for my total loss claim. I was put out of my rental barely two weeks in, while they were yet to even send my settlement cheque. I've had to be paying out of pocket for a rental since then. I needed at least a proof of the check so that I could show it to the dealership I was working with to get a new vehicle, they said they couldn't provide that or even a tracking number for me to follow up. To this day I have still not received the cheque that was supposedly mailed on the 19th and would take 5 business days, the claims person seems to be nonchalant and cannot really be bothered if thier delay is costing me more money than necessary. It's been an overall very horrible experience. I wouldn't recommend and definitely taking my business elsewhere read more

If I could rate as zero I would! We were switched to Belairdirect from Johnson for home & auto insurance. Assured by a Belairdirect agent our coverage would remain as it was with Johnson. I was shocked when I read the huge list of exclusions on the home policy, included almost everything you could possibly claim on a home insurance claim. Unfortunately, I read this a few months after the switch (mostly because I was assured coverage would not change). I felt I was lied to. I then changed companies and was charged a $235 cancellation fee. Then today I see on my online banking they plan to withdraw another $14.49 tomorrow. If I had chosen Belairdirect I would have read reviews ahead of time, as I always do when making a large purchase. But the decision to switch was made by Johnson. After I made the decision to leave Belairdirect, I spoke to an agent still at Johnson and told him about the list of exclusions on the Belairdirect home policy. He was totally shocked and agreed it excluded almost everything. Don't believe a word you here from a Belairdirect agent. And try to get any customer service from them. I called in and there was a 2 hr wait time to speak to someone. A choice was given to have a call back within 2 hrs, which I chose. That call never came. I then dialed in again and after waiting almost 90 minutes I hung up. I am retired now. I don't know how people who work all day can possibly manage to deal with this garbage. Who can wait on the phone for 2 hrs or wait 2 hrs for a callback (which may never come) if you are a work? This is truly the worst company I have ever dealt with. Johnson was not like this at all. I never waited more than a minute or two, if any, on the phone. We were covered with Johnson for at least 35 years and any claim went smoothly and fairly. In fact, when a repair to our Jetta was made improperly and found by another company that was doing some maintenance, Johnson immediately got the repairs done again, this time correctly. No fuss, no muss, just done right. Too bad Johnson made this terrible decision to switch. read more
