I had asked Dr. Salinger to come to my home to euthanize my 17 year old dog. I agreed to 10:00 am,…read morewhich I in retrospect was a ghastly error on my part. Dr. was punctual. Very professional. She allowed plenty of time for our last goodbyes. My old girl hadn't had a chance to rise from a long nights slumber and get the morning's usual long long drink of water. It wasn't until after Dr. couldn't find a vein that I realized why. She didn't know that my dog was in much better shape than she thought. I was unprepared for an abrupt needle that delivered the 'sleep' medicine. My dog took a seizure. Very upsetting to me, as I was expecting a quiet passing. Dog was immediately unresponsive then gone. Dr. was kind enough to explain to me when I called the next day about why the shot needed to be delivered in the manner it was. Perception, I guess. Dr. Salinger completed the task asked of her. She did it well. Very professional, kind lady. She was not familiar with my doggy beforehand and that's on me. Special Lady.

All the veterinary offices were closed here and I was at a loss of what to do. I frantically called out of state for any sort of explanation of what was happening to my cat. This vet in Ohio was so sweet and helped calm me down and reassure me that by my description my cat was okay and was probably stressed out because she was at least responsive. Thank you so much for your help she is doing much better.

We made an appointment and a few days later we brought him in for his first exam to be checked over. I got my checkbook out to pay at the end of the visit. Dr. Allmon and his staff told me they weren't going to charge us for the visit because my son did a good thing. We were amazed. Dr. Allmon and his staff are the kindest people and so good to all of our pets. He is an excellent veterinarian, extremely knowledgeable and honest. He also doesn't overcharge or push unnecessary services. Chardon Veterinary Hospital will always have our business. Love these people!!! Thank you so much.

Dr. Allmon didn't stand to greet me, didn't say hello nor ask me any questions or provide any input. Seemed like staff needed to prompt him to write down things or answer very simple questions. They very quickly gave up on my stray cat who was actually exhibiting entirely manageable behavior saying "they are too old". The cat was not biting nor aggressive, however was lightly growling. Absolutely manageable. When I asked about what age...I got "well he's an adult". Yea....clearly....thanks. Staff were condescending, didn't seem to have compassions for the animal.

Were seen with a very short waiting period. She had a fever and Upper Respiratory Infection. She was given an antibotic shot and fluids. The staff there are all excellent from the Front desk, to Marc the vet assistant and and Dr. McHenry. Were very pleased with our visit and the care they gave to our cat along with very reasonable costs. Also received a follow up call on Tuesday from them to inquire how Marsha was doing and as she recovered very quickly and was back to her normal self by Sunday.

YES you should take your pet here if you would like them to die…read more Over 20 years of pet ownership and 12 pets ... this is THE WORST experience I have ever had with a veterinary clinic. I trusted this clinic with my sick dog, and they treated her with such carelessness and lack of compassion. During her visit, my dog was dropped while already in a fragile condition. The IV placement was handled so roughly that she was cut so deeply she had scars on her skin. Watching someone treat an already suffering animal, MY best friend this way... was heartbreaking. We were told her bloodwork, and samples would be back in 1-3 days, and based on that information they placed her on the maximum dose of pain medication and sent us off with the bill. When we asked reasonable questions about whether this could become a recurring issue, the vet gave what felt like a completely dismissive and patronizing response, reducing our concerns to, "Cancer is bad," and explaining what cancer is instead of addressing our actual questions. We weren't asking for a textbook definition... We were asking about our dog's future. After four days of complete silence, we had to call because our dog's condition was rapidly worsening. She was in obvious pain, losing weight, unable to eat, the mass was growing quickly, and she had started urinating on herself without the ability to even keep her head up. Only then were we told that the results would actually take closer to 1-2 weeks completely contradicting what we had originally been told. 1 week after still hearing nothing, we called again looking for answers. Instead of concern for our dying dog, we were told we needed to pay more money and that our bill for the tests was due. Even though we had already paid around $480 at the visit, for that testing and treatment. The lack of communication was unacceptable. The lack of urgency was unacceptable. The lack of empathy was unacceptable. At no point did anyone reach out to check on our dog or keep us informed. We spent days desperately chasing updates while watching her deteriorate. Whether the lab was delayed or not, the clinic's communication, professionalism, and compassion were entirely within their control, and in my experience, they failed on every one of those fronts. I cannot recommend this clinic to anyone. Based on my experience, I would never trust them with another animal. TO PET OWNERS - As my dog was pleading for help, scared and unable to understand what was going on with her, VCA failed us. Please do not take your best friend to this clinic. You will lose them.
