The final straw…read more... My family and I have been going to to this restaurant since it opened. The food was great as was the service so we continually returned. But over the last few years the good staff left, the gentleman owner became over bearing and intrusive, table confusions, empty plates / rubbish not cleared up in a timely manner and service was slow, even if the restaurant was practically empty... The final straw came when we booked a table for 8 people for our very special family occasion, of which two members had travelled in from abroad, which they do so once a year and we managed to get everyone together for the first time in a long time. We asked for the big table by the window, by the front door and this was confirmed to us. We were even called on the day of our booking to reconfirm that we were still coming, which we confirmed and also confirmed about the specific table we booked and staff confirmed that this was all ok and booked for us. When we got the the restaurant we saw that our requested table was not free and was currently being used by a Asian family of over 10 people, eating the duck course, so they had not even had their mains yet. We spoke to the staff and they said that their other staff member gave our table away! Even though we booked in advance AND even though they phoned us on the day of our booking to confirm as above. The staff said they could make up a table for us, which would be disjointed tables and sorry, that is not good enough as that is not what we booked! We have had random tables slapped together before which was not inclusive to certain family members, leaving some of us isolated from our family on another table.. not ideal and not what we wanted to do again. We wanted the table we booked and confirmed in advance and again on the day when the restaurant called us! We looked around at the other tables and we saw miserable faces, which I would guess was from people still waiting for their food which they ordered quite some time ago...some which I have experienced for myself in the past on a few occasions regardless of the restaurant was full or not...staff looking flustered and on a sinking ship. An empty table was full of discarded pancake basket containers, drinks glasses and plates. We turned around, left and went elsewhere. Fortunately another Chinese restaurant were able to fit us in last minuet and were extremely accommodating. Especially on such a special occasion, which was tainted and spoilt by Forbidden City!

It can get crowded so it may be advisable to book in advance. On the downside when it gets busy the kitchen is rather slow and you might have to wait some time for your food. The table service is friendly and helpful. We thought the price of drinks was slightly over the top. It is well worth a visit

Tuu's is a family run orienta restaurant specialising in Thai, Vietnamese and Peking cuisine…read more Situated in the village of St John's, just outside of Woking, this is arguably one of the best oriental eateries around. Various set menus are on offer, all offering superb value. Portions are large and the food is freshly cooked. There is also an all you can eat buffet at certain sittings and, unlike many establishments, the variety is huge and the food incredibly fresh. You can also dine a la carte and there's nothing to stop you mixing the food from the different areas. The Peking duck comes highly recommended, as do the scallops in Tuu's own sauce, a heady, spicy sauce that one would think would drown something as subtle as scallops, but, somehow, the delicate flavour is enhanced. The restaurant is not particularly large but privacy between the tables is maintained with good spacing. This is an ideal restaurant for a dinner a deux or a business lunch/dinner. It's also a great place to come for a celebratory meal. If there are more of you then there is a function room which can be booked and special menus arranged. The food is reasonably priced for the quality. It's not a cheap night out, but then it's not going to break the bank either. The set meals offer the best value. Staff are incredibly friendly and polite. The waitresses wear traditional dress, adding to the already highly charged oriental atmoshpere of the venue. The decor is in keeping with the oriental theme but again the balance is right and it doesn't feel tacky or over the top. For festival days (such as Chinese New Year, Valentines, Christmas) there is often entertainment during the evening meals. Finally, a takeout service is offered at a 10% discount to the restaurant price. This makes it quite expensive as a take away option but the food is superb!

More Chinese than Thai. Food is still pretty good but massively expensive.read more

Very well laid out and looks fairly new too. Lots of statues wood carvings etc. Even a few ponds and a mini bridge. The lighting level is low and really sets the scene. The pay one price and eat what you like is better than most in so much there is a large choice and the food is delivered to your table The food taste was great and although the food didn't always come out at the same time it was worth it The waiters try to double up portions and are quite strict what they will or will not do and at times can be quite rude. In fact they are a riot and very rude Drinks are extra. Good selection We ate as a large family group on a Sunday lunch time It was a good Resteraunt as far as the decor and food choice and quality was concerned. The big down side was the staff. Abrupt. No interpersonal skills. No interaction. My recommendation would be either change the staff or go self serve I wouldn't return

The restaurant has set menus if you don't want to have to think for yourself and you are happy to let the restaurant choose the meal for you.
