The parking in the back is VERY tight but we were lucky enough to find a spot. The restaurant was relatively empty when we walked in but there were a lot of takeouts as we sat down to eat. AMBIANCE: 4/5 The ambiance is a little odd for me. The chairs and tables are small and plasticky thin. The floors were sticky but the tables were clean. The restaurant is bright and bigger than expected. FOOD: 4.5/5 We ordered 1. Sizzling Pepper Beef: I LOVE sizzling platters. However, the sauce used on this wasn't the pepper gravy I was used to at HK cafes. The dish was still delicious and came out HOT. There was a lot of protein at first glance but it seems like underneath the beef it's all onions - not sure if it's worth $16 but great to try. 2. Singapore Noodles with Chicken: LOVE THIS. I told the staff I didn't eat pork and if I can swap it out with chicken. They told me they'd have to remove the shrimp as well which was fine. The chicken was actually very very good - it was a little fried and savory. I just wish there was more noodles in this dish as they used a lot of bean sprouts. MUST GET. SERVICE: 4/5 The servers were great (although we were the 1 of 3 tables in the restaurant). The server was quick, spoke decent English to communicate, and accommodating. OVERALL: 4.5/5 I will definitely return to Mr. Gao in the future. This is one of the best Chinese restaurants in Hamilton right now after Only One Chinese restaurant closed down :(

Noodles and dumplings is a diamond in the rough. Situated in Downtown Hamilton the restaurant is…read moreextremely small giving an almost street food ambiance as best it can. Seating for about 8 -10 people. This particular day I ordered the Wonton Noodle Soup. A massive bowl of fresh hand made noodle and fresh wontons in a delectable broth. This broth was not hot chili wise as some other soups they offer with naked thus place unique. Each bowl is crafted with a different taste and being a small place the chef is visible to see! The attention to detail in every bowl is amazing as he takes time to perfect each to be a perfect presentation. Very hawker/street style! No need to go to Toronto it's all right here. The hours are limited during the week and more flexible on weekend as the there is only one guy (the chef) and a counter person. highly impressed highly recommend
