JT is incredibly kind and well-intentioned, but the therapy felt one-dimensional. Sessions largely focused on validating feelings without providing structure, tools, challenge, or actionable guidance - all of which I repeatedly asked for. Given that this therapy was priced at the higher end of what we've seen, we expected a much deeper level of engagement and clinical depth. I consistently expressed that I did not feel understood, and that concern never felt meaningfully explored. The turning point came when JT continued asking the same questions and implied that I wasn't going deep enough. When I asked him to take a different approach and ask more thoughtful probing questions, he responded by asking me what I thought he should ask instead. That felt backwards. If he is the trained professional, I don't believe it should be my responsibility to determine how we get deeper in session. He also seemed dismissive of modalities like the Gottman Method and Nonviolent Communication, as well as the self-work I was doing independently. Despite repeatedly asking for homework or guidance between sessions, none was provided. We were looking for stronger direction and more skill-based, structured work, which is why we chose to move on. We're very happy with our new therapist, who also practices EFT but brings a broader, more versatile approach rather than relying on a singular method.

The work we did together truly changed my life and continues to change my life. Before we worked together I struggled with constant anxiety and depression with major depressive episodes. We built such a strong foundation that, even though my life has continued to throw major challenges at me, instead of falling back into anxiety and depression, I now systematically work through my challenges, finding, refining, and expanding my own inner strength each time. It's always a gift to have her support when things are hard, but it's so much more powerful to know I can be mentally strong and healthy through all of life's challenges without having to rely on any one person or thing.

As cliché as it sounds, I can honestly say that working with Lindsay changed my life. Who am I…read morekidding? With the tools and insight she provided over our 18 months working together, she's continuing to change my life. I sought out counseling services when life felt unbearably bleak, difficult, and dark. I came in, grasping for control and hoping for a quick fix, which in hindsight is utterly laughable. I think if I knew how much baggage I needed to unpack and how much "inside" work it would take, I never would have begun the process, but with Lindsay's gentle and steadfast guidance, I was slowly but surely able to pull myself out of the weeds. With her help (and a lot of healthy work), I've found my voice and have begun to thrive in a visceral, sustainable and powerful manner- what a gift she has given me! Lindsay is thorough, receptive, non-judgmental, open to talking about therapy within therapy (so meta, I know), insightful, funny, wise, kind, gentle yet straightforward, and very easy to talk to. It seems that some of his friends, colleagues wrote a lot of these, especially on Google. Yelp at least dismissed the friend/colleague reviews. Won't do THAT again! That said, we went to couples counseling for around 2 months with Aaron. I found him to be disengaged and bored at times while listening to us. I felt that I should hang in there. We discussed a lot of disagreements we were having with parenting, honesty, etc. We'd have a 50 min session(not an hr, but they charge hourly) talking about some serious issues, but then no circle back to those issues in the next session, so nothing resolved, just bromides about how we all disagree a lot. Yeah. As the sessions went on, I noticed Aaron taking sides and talking about how women impose themselves on men. He asked my husband how I do that! No kidding. The next day I emailed Aaron and asked him why he said that. He said "I see 3-5 clients a day and didn't remember saying that." I ended the sessions after that. No. I would NOT recommend Aaron, particularly any women who don't like to be judged and stereotyped.
