And so I even became aware about Sutherland Falls through a random advertisement post in the local Tim Horton's located in the town of Revelstoke. This list of "10 Things To Do In Revelstoke" included Sutherland Falls. It was the #1 suggestion on the sign detailing..."Explore the Waterfall Trifecta - Moses, Begbie and Sutherland Falls can all be easily accessed in one day." My immediate thoughts were...getting the opportunity to see 3 waterfalls without having to hike and work hard to reach them?? Sign me up! Being a waterfall enthusiast, lol, this was like a dream come true! After spending 2 days exploring Mount Revelstoke National Park, I was next determined to visit all 3 waterfalls suggested by the advertisement. Going in order from being situated closest to Revelstoke, Sutherland Falls here at Blanket Creek Provincial Park was the furthest away in distance. Let me give details about the experience... - Blanket Creek is 28 kilometers or 17 miles south of Revelstoke, right along BC Highway - 23. There's a large sign for the park that's on the left hand side of the road. Once you make a turn, the short walking path for Sutherland Falls is visible. Simply park in the lot and the trailhead says..."Sutherland Falls - 5 minutes". - One thing to keep in mind, there was no cell phone reception so you may want to preset the destination into your GPS ahead of time just in case. - I arrived 7:30pm over the summertime and there was still enough daylight to enjoy watching Sutherland Falls and still becoming acquainted with the quiet forest setting. - Speaking of quiet, I was the only visitor here. Upon walking the dirt path to the overlook, you capture decent perspectives of Sutherland falls in the backdrop. The lookout observation point is guarded off by fencing, but I casually walked around it and climbed over a few rock boulders to grab a much closer and undisturbed view of the falls. - Sutherland Falls is a 60 foot waterfall that empties into the canyon base of Blanket Creek. It isn't statuesque, but still rewarding enough to make the effort to see considering how remote this area of British Columbia is. - It takes less than 1 hour to grab a few photos. - Seeing what else was around Blanket Creek Park, I noticed there appeared to be a significant section for camping. Reservations for campsites can be made through the BC Parks Reservations System. According to bcparks.ca (I believe that's the park's official website), there are 105 campsites on the grounds. Because of significantly cold weather and snow during winters, the park gate is only open from mid May through the end of September. - It is $28 per night for camping. There's a drinking water well, a playground, both pit and flush toilets, even hot showers for registered guests. - Extra To-Do's at the park include...hiking, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, bicycling and wildlife viewing. Pets must be on a leash. They allow campfires and each campsite has a firepit ring. I think I've mentioned it all? Lol. But in the end, the star attraction is Sutherland Falls. And although it doesn't take long to see it and grab a few pictures, visiting here is more about getting outside and connecting with nature. For those who appreciate the great outdoors this is what Blanket Creek Provincial Park is all about.

I was sitting in my favorite place in Revelstoke, British Columbia...yes, Tim Hortons!! And, I…read morenoticed a sign posted on the wall inside highlighting 10 worthwhile sights to check out around town. The #1 listed activity was to visit 3 waterfalls, and this Moses Falls was part of the list. I thought to myself...."waterfalls? I love waterfalls! I'm a waterfalls' enthusiast!"...and so here I am getting to talk about the efficient roadside stop that is...Moses Falls! It's located about 7.5 kilometers or 5 miles outside downtown Revelstoke. Pretty easy. I parked in the small dirt road lot and then trekked down a fairly steep but manageable pathway within the forest for maybe 1/3rd of a kilometer. And then the waterfall was right in front of my eyes. I especially liked the view here as Moses Falls trickled down the side of a rock wall. No frills to it, and it was a quick picture to capture. Best of all, the sun pierced through the trees for the afternoon visit and really accentuated the backdrop. I noticed some visitors were in their bathing suits for getting wet. The falls splash down into a pool which blends among a gentle flowing stream. Moses Falls is simply a nice getaway into nature and a pleasant surprise considering most tourists coming to Revelstoke drive the Meadows in the Sky Road within the national park boundaries. Finally, who knew? Not only does Tim Hortons sell the best pastries, bagels and coffee in Canada, but so cool of them to mention rewarding places around Revelstoke to discover at your own leisure.

Glacier National Park in British Columbia is an incredible combination of rugged mountains,…read moreglaciers, waterfalls, deep valleys, and pristine wilderness. The scenery is dramatic from almost every direction, but hiking into the alpine terrain is where the park really comes alive. It was my favorite stop of the trip. They have a variety of challenging hikes. We hiked the Perley Rock Trail, a challenging 7.6-mile (12.3 km) out-and-back near Rogers Pass. It's a steep climb through forest and rocky alpine terrain, but the views become more impressive with every bit of elevation gained. Along the way, we had panoramic views of the surrounding peaks, waterfalls, and valleys. We encountered a variety of wildlife during our 6 hour journey. The highlight is reaching the Perley Rock viewpoint, where you're rewarded with an incredible, up-close view of the Illecillewaet Glacier. Seeing the massive glacier, ice formations, and surrounding mountain landscape from above was unforgettable. This is definitely a challenging hike, but it showcases exactly what makes Glacier National Park so special: wild, dramatic alpine scenery that feels completely untouched and immense. If you're visiting the Rogers Pass area and enjoy hiking, Glacier National Park is absolutely worth the effort.

Mount Revelstoke National Park of Canada! I believe hiking to Miller and Eva Lakes are the two…read moreprimary focal points for experiencing this beautiful, yet under the radar park. To arrive at them, you must drive the Meadows in the Sky road about 26 kilometers or 16 miles up to the summit area parking lot. After you exit your car... - Hike 5.5 kilometers or 3.5 miles to reach Miller Lake. - Then hike another 8/10th's of a kilometer or 1/2 mile to get to Eva Lake. Either way, the two lakes pair perfectly together. You can't go to one and not visit the other, lol. Along the way on the trail, it's not really elevated. You mostly descend down a dirt pathway into an alpine bowl of trees and shrubberies within the forest. It's a pleasant setting among nature. And it wasn't hot or cold along the way when I hiked in late June. The conditions were perfect. Miller Lake and Eva Lake are both similar in that they offer some of the most untouched, undisturbed surroundings you can encounter, anywhere! The reflections in the waters are pristine, symmetrical, masterpiece works of art!! Here were some of the differences between the two lakes... According to what I noticed, you can't walk around Miller Lake. There's a giant boulder you can stand upon and get 360 views. Basically, there's not much maneuverability to capture that ideal photo moment. Whereas at Eva Lake, you walk around the entire lake as it's bigger and offers more of a playful area in nature to enjoy the scenic sights. Eva Lake is more open in terms of landscape. There are panoramic vista point views of the mountains in the background as you stroll the perimeter of the lake. So...Eva Lake gives you the best of both worlds. Miller Lake sort of sits in an enclosed lower bowl tier and when I stopped by, the sun was partially hidden by the forest growth and hindered some sensational picture instances. At Eva Lake, there were benches afforded to hikers to sit down on. Also, visitors were swimming in Eva Lake as well. In total, with hiking to and from the lakes and spending brief time at each of them and with driving back down Revelstoke Mountain, the entire experience took 7 hours. Btw, back at the trailhead for Miller and Eva Lakes, you have Fire Lookout House which is a unique landmark worthy of exploring for a little. Fire House Lookout appeared to be a popular destination among visitors. Right next to Fire Lookout House is Heather Lake...another charming lake with some green coloring to it and perfect reflections of alpine trees glistening off the waters. Both Fire Lookout and Heather Lake are within the heart of Mount Revelstoke activity so you're not really going out of your way to see more sights after the moderately difficult Miller and Eva Lakes Trail. Lastly, for those with a real sense of adventure, next to Miller and Eva Lakes is a continuous pathway for 4 more kilometers or 2.5 miles to Jade Lakes, but I skipped it so I don't know how it appeared. If I had an assumption, I'd say Jade Lakes would be worthwhile as well. Just thinking off my head at this moment, Jade Lakes may have snow covering on the trail year round. This is my impromptu thought, but I'd inquire with park rangers before trekking to Jade Lakes and setting off for the day. Mount Revelstoke National Park! No one has talked about it, but if you're a parks fan and lover of nature...I would certainly suggest paying a visit here and you'll be rewarded with quality time spent in the great outdoors.

In the months leading up to our trip, we made a list of things we would like to do. Our Canadian guide (my cousin's wife) knew the route and mentioned many things to do along the way. The Enchanted Forest was one of the things we jotted down. Fast forward to us on the road and driving west; timing ended up working out great for us as we passed by Revelstoke during the afternoon. With that to our advantage, we pulled over to check out The Enchanted Forest. Going in, I had no idea what to expect. Thoughts of fancy forests with fog and unicorns are what sprang to mind. A forest dedicated to fairy tales is not what I imagined. But that's what the Enchanted Forest is. One dedicated to all those fairy tales we all hear as kids. Parking was a bit of a pain as the lot was smaller and we stopped by during the peak tourist season, but we eventually found a place and headed in. Entry was around $12 or so but since it's been awhile, please check their website for an accurate price. We all paid, grabbed maps and headed in. As we paid and headed in, I couldn't think that this was an actual place. It seemed like a fairy tale in of itself. A random forest dedicated to fairy tales and the like. But every step of the way just kept up that initial surprise. Every path and every turn lead to a small set up dedicated to some tale or some folk lore. Some I recognized, some I didn't. Here and there, you would find poems or excerpts from the origins of what the displays were based on. That helped figure out where and what certain displays were. Walking around, you can head whichever way you want and spend time with the displays, taking fun photos with most of them. You can't interact with them for the most part, aside from the ones that are made to be touched. I remember there being a tree house kids could play in. I remember there being a big bunny chair you could sit in. There was a shoe house small kids could explore. The house that Goldilocks commits Breaking and Entering in is now a real place. Even if you aren't a fan of tales and lore, this place is something to experience just for the sake of it is unique and unlike anything else I've experienced in my years of traveling. Also, the forests of Canada are a beauty of their own. You can browse the photos supplied below but you'd really need to see a video of it to get a good feel for the place. About the only negative I would have to say about this place is that the age/quality of some of the sculptures are lacking. Some have that homemade look, which has a charm of it's own but at the same time, weren't crafted the best. Some of the other things looked like they needed a fresh coat of paint or some touch ups. I assume the forest vegetation/biome isn't the greatest for these kinds of things. With that negative in mind, I am not docking this place for it as I think that it is also part of the charm in a weird way. It's like you are seeing a labor of someone's love brought to life. Kids who grew up reading would love this place. Adults who grew up with these stories would also love this place. It's like seeing a story adapted in to a movie. Those words and mental images brought to life.

Kids are safety harnessed in with helmet and basically tight roping a big circle... with the exception of green caterpillar structure which is a crawl through. The smaller guided course is in need of a zip line structure/feature. The jungle gym is unguided and does have a zip line feature which is the saving grace of the two children sections. My daughter liked the jungle gym more while the other two liked the guided course. The teen/adult climbing area was pretty impressive. If you're expecting to just zip line from one tree to the next this is not it. The staff from the ground basically coaches you from one section to the next. The guides are really good at what they do.

An obstacle course amongst the trees connected with safety wires where the child can climb, jump, and move from tree to tree. A similar challenge course for larger children and adults higher off the ground amongst the trees includes the blinds and challenge obstacles. Starting from a novice level going to a much more difficult challenge, with the ability to leave the course at various stages. Some of the obstacles are rope bridges, ladders, zip lines and other obstacles. Safety is the of the upmost importance and prior to going on the adult obstacle course we were given a workup under the supervision of staff complete with a safety briefing. I felt very confident and safe. The children's obstacle course was also very safe with our child spending a good amount of time on the obstacle. There is a gift shop as well as a food truck on location. We had initially planned to spend half the day at skytrek eventua park and the other half at enchanted Forest but had to spread it out over two days.

There was also a skate/snowboard shop in the building but it was closed when we went. It was definitely my kind of joint: snowboard & ski videos playing on flat screen TVs, good dance music bumpin, local art on the walls, black lights on the lanes, and great service from the bar. There were kids, teens, and adults there all having fun. The place was packed when we showed up around 7pm so we played a couple rounds of pool and had some cocktails before we got on the lanes. Not sure if they do reservations but I might suggest checking that out if you are going on a weekend. 5-pin was different but fun and challenging. You use small bowling balls with no finger holes and get three turns per frame instead of two. The points multiply if you strike or spare in the first two turns of the frame, but not on the third turn. I enjoyed the uniqueness of the game but lost 3 of 4 games to my wife. The only draw back to The Cabin was the limited food menu, but I wouldn't take a star away from them for that. Because we started around 8 and bowled 4 games, many of the restaurants had closed by the time we were done. We ended up finding some great pizza at the local bar, The Village Idiot. In summary: great drinks, fun atmosphere, and friendly staff. Not your typical bowling alley. I definitely plan to come back on my next trip to Revelstoke!
