Peter Jannink Nature Park was a quiet and lovely "rest break" for us on a BC road trip and stop in Salmon Arm. The Park is located on, in, and near a beautiful marshland shore of Shuswap Lake. Access to the Park and its walking trails is located just a short, walking distance from the downtown area of Salmon Arm (with easy access across from Narcisse and Hudson Streets).
The visit to the Park provided a very pleasant break and nature diversion from our driving for a while, and we sure enjoyed the sights & sounds (walking trails, gardens, bird viewing areas, many birds - waterfowl and land - the marshland, and Lake).
On the initiative of the Shuswap Naturalist Club, this area of the city was converted to a city park in 1999. The park was named in honour of Peter Jannink, the head city gardener, Club member, and active bird-watcher, after his passing in 2003.
We found it a lovely, quiet, and natural respite/retreat from the heart of downtown Salmon Arm. We were most-happy and fortunate to have stopped and experienced it. read more
