Though we've wanted a piano for years, we had looked only casually before being struck by Isaac's philosophy: taking pianos and touching them up or even restoring them to sell to people across a wide range of budgets and skill levels. When I reached out, Isaac responded promptly, and we had a long conversation assessing what we were looking for in a piano. When we went to his shop, he explained the origin of the pianos he had and what made each different. He graciously let us try everything from a Baldwin spinet to a beautiful late-1800s Steinway (which he knew was NOT in our price range!). We ultimately settled on a warm Charles Walter upright, made by a smaller American company we hadn't been familiar with but that - - besides making great pianos - - has business values we appreciate as a bonus. The piano movers Isaac works with are excellent: they arrived promptly and carefully navigated the piano up several steps through a narrow entrance, in and out within fifteen minutes. Now we're beyond excited to have this beautiful piano sitting in our living room and highly recommend Isaac and Prosper Pianos.

They sell pianos at Klavierhaus, but they also host performances featuring the most accomplished pianists of this day. Klavierhaus hosts performances, this time via Salon Concerts and I was fortunate to catch the 50th Anniversary performance by seven remarkable pianists in their own respects of Keith Jarrett's Koeln Concert. It was a smooth reservation process and everyone who attended was in for something very special. Seating is simple and there is nothing fancy at Klavierhaus. It's all about good acoustics in an intimate setting allowing the audience to be up close to the performers unlike any other performance hall. Truly remarkable. I can only take away a half stars for the simple seating, but that is what makes hearing and experiencing performances at Klavierhaus so special. You will never hear a world class performance like this so informally and intimately. Four and a half stars!

For example, holes for bridge pins weren't equally spaced, which leads to buzzing. Sloppy work thorughout. I've been spending a fortune with workarounds. When they replaced the dampers on this 57" upright, rather than put in ones appropriate for the size of the piano, they put tiny ones in best suited for spinets. While it's been a long time since the work was done, these are defects in their workmanship.
