Looking for a nearby store to grab some beer, I was more than pleased when we walked into Beer World. Rows and rows of micro-brew, craft, and local beers are a welcoming sight. I found a few that I was ecstatic to try, including cans from Half Acre, Finback, Mikkeller San Diego. It's easy to spend an hour just browsing their great selection of cans and bottles. If you're just looking for a simple cold pack, there are also fridges and cases in the back of more popular and standard beers/brews. They even have beer on tap so you can fill up a growler while you're there. The only downside is it's easy to spend a decent amount of $$ on some of these top quality craft beers. If I'm ever in the area though, I'd definitely make a pit stop here to stock up. read more

The location is great. While there are a few other beer stores in the area, they are all a bit of a drive. The second thing that is great about them is that more than likely, if they don't have a beer, none of the other places in the area will have it either. They have such a wide variety of beer from all over the world. Another thing that they are doing well is stocking the bigger packs of bottles from the craft brewers which I always appreciate. They have been getting some decent draft selections to fill up both 1/2 gallon and full gallon jugs. Overall, a must visit for beer lovers in the area. read more

Great spot to stop in a walk the isles. I walked in looking for a beer that was mixed with lemonade. Upon talking with the guy behind the counter ( didn't catch his name) he explained to me what I was after is called a shandy and gave me some insight in the process and even the history. After figuring out my purchase would not be possible he lead me to a create my own 6 pack and pointed out lots of different shandy's to try. I was very pleased with his help and the selection of beers is almost overwhelming, but in a good way. The prices were great and the beers purchased from the freezers are ice cold. They also have a growler filling station so it gives another spot to fill those. All in all a great experience, friendly customer service and it did not have the dingy, gross, backwoods local beer store feel. If you are looking to purchase some libations I would recommend try Beer World. read more

Looking for that rare brew? Then this place is where you just might find it because the selection is overwhelming. I'm a Corona and Heineken kind of guy so I'm pretty much a creature of habit buying the same 'ol, same 'ol. I did like the front section where they had create your own six pack of any variety for like $11. The store has tons of beverages to select from but my only complaint is pricing. You'd think for such a large distributor they could offer some slight discounts when you compare pricing to the 4 supermarkets walking distance from this store. My advice is if you see beer on sale at supermarket chances are really high that it's cheaper there than at Beer World so I'd buy from supermarket but for regular priced beer it's worth the stop at beer world. I'd buy here regularly if they were a tad cheaper otherwise this remains my party shopping spot. read more

This New Windsor location recently opened up a few weeks ago. It's not a huge store, but it has a widely varied selection of beers, domestic and international. They sell single bottles as well as cases/six packs and have a walk in beer ice cave. I came to see if they had my favorite Russian beer Baltica number 8. The had almost every number of Baltica EXCEPT 8, but when I mentioned that to the cashier, he actually wrote it down, so even if they don't stock it, I thought it was nice that they were taking customer requests. I tried Baltica number 7 instead and two different Ukrainian Beers. They have British beers, Belgian, French, Polish, German, etc. Prices were very decent as well. read more

Nice shop. It's close, prices are pretty good, selection is amazing. I don't think the prices are as good as say, Hannaford's or ShopRite, but those stores don't have quite the same selection. When I first went in, and as kind of a newbie to beer, it was almost overwhelming. Gratefully, they have a section where you can mix a 6 pack for $10. Giant cold case, tons of unusual stuff, from all over the world. They rotate seasonal stuff at the front of the store. You can even fill growlers. What is not to like? Sometimes there is a guy in there who is quite helpful and willing to answer questions and offer suggestions. Most of the time the other guy (with the bluetooth) is friendly enough, but does not really provide guidance or opinion. Personally, I think having experts on hand who are excited and would help people determine what they want would drive more business. But I think I am probably a little different since I like to try new stuff and get suggestions. Did I mention you can get cans of Newburgh Cream Ale here? And occasionally growler fills from Newburgh Brewing? I've also kept track of Beer World on social media, and occasionally they will run specials - like a mix and match 6-pack for 6 cents. Heaven. The promise land. Home. These are just a few words to describe beer world. I mean the name itself just screams "Hey! If you wanna get lit and drink alcoholic beverages that will have you wake up on your bathroom floor naked and have no recollection of last night, then this is the place to go first." This is the kingdom of beer. Walking into the store and the smell of brewed goods hits you're nostrils harder than a juiced up A-Rod smacking a home run... Round the bases and get ready. Cause you're gonna get some poon after shopping at the Hogwarts of beer. The store has whatever brand of beer your cracked up mind can think of. Bud, Miller, Coors, Keystone, my personal favorite Busch. Etc... And if you're really tryna black out I would recommend purchasing a few Natty Daddys or four lokos. After grabbing your weapons of mass destruction, checking out is just a few steps away. Place the beer on your Indian clerks counter and let him do his magic. Walk out those doors. I recently purchased a kegerator and deal with Beer World to order my kegs. I have never had an issue with Beer World and they always have kegs in a timely manner. I like a beer which is not available in many places but Beer World has it. DO NOT ORDER THROUGH THEIR WEBSITE! Beer world online advertises all kinds of products that they do not actually carry in the store. I placed an order two weeks before Christmas for a product on their site to be shipping to me and paid $25 for shipping. I then called them to confirm they would ship it out on December 17th. Not only was there no gift for Christmas under the tree, but when I emailed them to find out if the package would get to me even this WEEK they just refunded me--no call, no email explanation, NOTHING. Upon further email someone named "Pete" replied and said they didn't carry the product and weren't sure if they would ever get it back in, so they were refunding me and canceling my order. THEN WHY DID YOU CONFIRM IN THE FIRST PLACE? Thanks for ruining Christmas, Beer World. They are sketchy at best. I would not do business with them , ever. read more

Went first open great prices, now prices higher than local stores and say they do not honor prices on web site. This is the New Windsor store. The Catskill store is still great. Stay away! Or at least stay away from their mix a six pack. I literally never write reviews on Yelp, but was compelled to this time so others do not get suckered in. I was there yesterday (Jan 31) and bought a couple of mix sixers. Got home and the first beer was a skunky mess. I then looked on the "best by" dates on the bottles that had them and all of the dates were from early 2015, in some cases the beer on these shelves must have been closing in on 18 months old. I'm no beer snob, but selling beer this old, should be illegal. It's like selling milk that's weeks past its expiration date. Beer is not like other kinds of alcohol, except in rare cases the older it is, the worse it gets. There's a reason so many breweries use a "best by" label. Old beer is stale beer and tastes nasty. I bought 12 beers, all but 2 of them were undrinkable. They were all either weirdly sour or smelled like skunk or both. At least they should have had the courtesy of marking these beers as clearance, and marking the price down so you know what risk you're taking when you buy. I wasted $25 on a dozen undrinkable beers. They should be ashamed of themselves. read more
