Not sure what all the negative ratings about the cashier are all about. My brother and I drove here from Turlock because we read online about their vast beer selection. They do have a lot of IPAs, but their stout/porter selection is limited. Lots of hard liquor also available. The cashier was very accommodating helping us get to beers that we couldn't access ourselves in the walk in cooler. He was super friendly and knowledgeable about different beers. Great experience, worth the drive for the micro beer selection (especially IPAs) alone. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. My partner and I have been loyal customers to this place for years. But recently, my partner and a friend went to get some beers. However, my friend recently got a haircut, and the owner refused to sell to him because "he didn't look like his ID," claimed that his ID was fake, and refused to sell to him. When my partner tried defending him, (as someone who has been buying from beer cave for years), they refused to sell to him too and were incredibly rude and unprofessional, yelling at them both. Basically, they lost good customers because we are never going back again, and neither is the rest of our family & friends. read more

If you like dealing with shady people that don't stand behind what they sell, this is the place for you. I stopped in real quick to get a puff bar. Fancy name for a jewel. I picked one up on the way to merced. Unwrapped it took a puff, nothing. Ok. Well on the way back I'll swap it out. Shouldn't be a big deal. It will be about 15-20 minutes. Well I bring it to the clerk. Tell him I just bought it. He said," no refunds no exchanges." But I just bought it. He shows me a little sticky memo note on the glass. Atwater was missing this from a while. A place where you can buy premium craft beers. I fell in love with this store at first sight. Walk in beer cave to pick up chilled beers. My husband went into this store to purchase a drink and he was treated very badly , my husband was looking at the selection of alcohol, and they have a display case of items and my husband was looking at the items and the clerk told him you don't need to be by here , my husband said I am just looking at the alcohol you have displayed and the clerk said no , you buy items and go! My husband replied I'm not doing nothing wrong, I am looking so I can purchase , the clerk rudely says no buy items and leave my store , my husband decided to leave items , my husband was harassed for no reason , it was his first time at this store but will never return their again. These are by far the nicest guys in town! I won't buy my beer or wine anywhere else! The variety is excellent! They even have an angry orchard that I never knew existed! I am a happy camper!!!
