I think this would have been an amazing visit and shopping experience had covered 19 been a factor. There were many many different types of jerky available and you can see that at one point samples were offered. However during covid, the sampling has stopped. Which of course is very unfortunate for them because nobody is going to buy ostrich jerky unless they've tried it. There were plenty of different types of jerky but again who's going to buy $10 worth of jerky without sampling it first? We could have obviously bought the old standbys but we ended up walking around and leaving shortly after. The girl behind the counter wasn't much help either, not very friendly or chatty or anything almost as if we were negatively impacting whatever she was doing on her phone. I'm giving it three stars because of the variety, again hoping that one's covid-19 is done or lessened, that they will start the sampling again.

Just stopped in after checking into my hotel because I love turkey jerky. What a surprise! Garrett, the very nice, helpful and handsome young man behind the counter recommended the cherry maple smoked turkey jerky and he was spot on! Stop in and you won't regret it! Great product and amazing customer service!

While roaming through Hot Spring, Arkansas came upon this place where it had a variety of different jerky, condiments, and popcorn. The service was also not pleasant as the owner or cashier lady was busy with what she was doing on her laptop. The only reason why I walked into this place was because the had free sample of jerkies haha. I would recommend taking your time and tasting the different jerky the have, some are quiet good.

We drove two hours to this place, Google said it closes at 7, we got there at 6:45 and it was already closed. Big bummer.

I had purchased salted Virginia peanuts while in Virginia a couple of months ago that were so good. They had virginia peanuts here but only honey roasted. So I gave them a try. My husband liked them but I didn't much care for them. Also bought stone ground grits from South Carolina that were excellent. And lastly I purchased Bequet caramels. By far the best caramels I have ever eaten. All items were pricy but fun purchases. Shop is clean, staff friendly and convenient to hang out while waiting for breakfast. Same owner as the Pancake shop so they even came into the shop to call our name when our table was ready. Purchase or not it is worth popping in to check out the shop. .

You walk in and…read moreimmediately you feel like you're teleported elsewhere... it feels like a artsy and offbeat hangout. The inside is uniquely decorated with features such as accordian lights and the original inudstrial ceiling of the building. There was a bit of a wait as the table was prepared. We were then quickly seated. To start off, we got the pepperoni chips. They're exactly what you'd imagine. Crispy pepperoni slices that are served with a side of marinara sauce. Now, don't get me wrong... they were definitely good. However, would I get them again? No. They were more salty than I would have liked. We mainly were looking for a non-carb starter. Looking back, we probably would have gotten the caprese plates. In terms of pies, we got a large half-n-half. For the first half, we got Hot Honey. Great mix of savory with the shredded pepperoni and then the sweet & spicy offered through the hot honey. Then for the other half, we got the Fungal Jungal. There were crimini, oyster, and portabella mushroooms... plenty of flavory as well as a good amount of roasted garlic. This was probably our favorite out of the two. Though both were still good overall! Aside from the food, everything was reasonably priced and service was top-notch! Definitely recommend!

I ordered a gf vegan pizza from the menu. The regular base price was I think around $22. When the bill came, I was FLOORED. I expected up charges, but it memory serves, it was $37 for my small little gf pizza. I was so disappointed. In no world would I pay (including tip) $45 for a tiny pizza. I enjoyed it, but wouldn't probably eat there again. Plenty of other more reasonable options for a gf plant based eater.

Cafe 1217 - A Fresh Break from the Road Trip Diet…read more What a relief to stumble into Cafe 1217 after days of heading southwest on a steady rotation of BBQ, grits, and beans. Delicious, yes... but the body eventually starts asking for a vegetable and a reset. The space itself matches that feeling. Simply decorated, with bright murals, clean lines, and a cheerful, easygoing vibe that feels light the moment you walk in. My husband gave me full ordering authority, which is always a bold move. I went straight into tapas mode because everything on the menu looked too good to choose just one. We ended up with a spread: chicken pot pie (which quickly abandoned any "small plate" intentions), field greens and baby spinach, a shrimp and crawfish cake, and one of each of Rosy's authentic hand-rolled tamales. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying without that heavy, road-trip food fatigue. The mint lemonade was refreshing and delicious, a little on the sweet side, but it worked. Service, while perfectly fine, could benefit from a warmer welcome and a bit more guidance, especially for first-timers trying to navigate such an inviting menu. A little extra friendliness up front would go a long way here. Our only real regret? Not saving room for dessert. They looked very tempting, and we'll be thinking about that missed opportunity. If you're on the road and craving something lighter without sacrificing flavor, this spot is a welcome pause.

After a full day exploring Hot Springs, Arkansas, this BBQ absolutely HIT the spot…read more Before you even walk inside, look to your left -- you can see the giant smokers going and smell that incredible smoky BBQ aroma before you ever reach the door. Honestly, that smell alone had us excited to eat. The setup here is casual and easy. You order at the counter, grab a table, and they give you a number, though a lot of the food was ready so quickly that several items were handed to us almost immediately after ordering. Our group shared all kinds of things so we got to try a little bit of everything. My daughter and I split a loaded baked potato topped with pulled pork and added several sides to the table because honestly...we wanted to try it all. The fried okra was especially delicious, but truly everything we had was good. Around the table: * My dad ordered the nachos * My mom got a sweet potato along with brisket-stuffed jalapeños wrapped in bacon (which she absolutely loved) * We sampled sides galore and nobody left hungry The atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable, staff was friendly, the restaurant was clean, and service was FAST without making the experience feel rushed. This felt like exactly what good Southern BBQ should be -- flavorful, generous portions, no unnecessary fuss, and the kind of meal that makes everyone at the table happy after a long day out exploring.

The smoke aroma hits you before you open the door which is nearly always a good sign. Both of us decided on their Special Op's sandwich, which comes with a Brisket, Pulled Pork, a choice of sausage (jalapeño pineapple or four cheese), a rib and a side of beans. We each ordered a side of potato salad and we split an order of Brisket Twisters which are jalapeños stuffed with brisket and cream cheese and wrapped in bacon. Neither of us finished and both of us had to get a to-go box. Overall everything was really good. Everything was fresh, the hot foods were hot, not warm or dried out, from sitting around in a warming cabinet, for hours, and the potato salad was well chilled, not room temperature. It is things like this that I notice, and make a difference. The only thing I was not keen on was the rib. It was extremely soft almost mushy and literally falling of the bone. I know thats how many people like their ribs. I just prefer my ribs to be a little less well done and have a bit of a pull to the meat to get it off the bone, so I am not going to ding them for that. The counter where you order and get your meal is clean, bright and cheerful, the staff are all really pleasant, friendly and helpful. The dining room is fairly large and roomy, with plenty of space to relax and enjoy your food. Overall, a really good dining experience and we both agreed we would dine there again.
