I love all Kilwins National locations, except this one. Here's why... They need not to have grandpa covering the night shift on a busy holiday weekend. He was completely overwhelmed and slow. He was not able to handle the long line of customers. There was a young girl there to but she was just cleaning a machine which should not have been the focus at such busy times. She should have stepped up to the plate to help. Not sure if she was in the spectrum or not but something was a little off in her ability to read the room and prioritize urgencies. My only food complaint is my beloved chocolate covered waffle cone was dipped in chocolate only on the inside and made on the spot. Normally these are made well ahead of time and would have a very nice thick chocolate coating both inside and out giving more chocolate per bite. Don't recommend this location. read more

The service was just OK nothing to stellar or stand out about it but the main reason I went is for the blue moon ice cream, it's a ice cream that I grew up on and you can only find it in Michigan. So I would rather drive three hours instead 10 to get this delicious ice cream that brings back so many wonderful memories. Store smells great. Typical Kilwins selections when you walk in. 2 workers working on a busy Saturday night. One was making waffle cones and the other scooping cream and running the register. No clear line/ direction when you walk in...it was a free for all in terms of getting service from the one staff member serving customers. Took the one making cones 15 minutes to ask the guy scooping if he needed help...he should have said yes... Kilwin's ice cream is bomb! Obviously they're aware of this and it's priced accordingly but for a very occasional treat it's an easy win! At every location the people always seem to be very nice and are patient with the difficult decision as there are lots of flavors to choose from. I usually get a "single" scoop in a cup but they will let you do a half n half of 2 flavors and you typically get a bit more for your money! Service - Customer Service is HORRIBLE and this heavily influenced our review. Only one person serving customers while an elderly man behind the counter was walking back and forth mixing and measuring some things and doing whatever. The line started to grow. We were next standing in line behind another couple at the counter who was having their order fulfilled. There were three more families/couples behind us. A single person walks in and passed all of us and stands at the ice cream area. The old man behind the counter finally decided to help serve customers and several times prior he started to help serve we made eye contact as he walked back and forth. Instead of the 2nd server asking who was next he starts serving the solo customer who was the last person to enter the store. I was like WTF and had to say something to both gentleman. The solo customer for being rude by skipping every one and the server for his lack of awareness or focus on the next customer. We were now about 10 minutes waiting. Yes the price is high and yes the shop is busy, it's at a prime location in a tourist area. I knew both things going in. The ice cream was very good and the old man behind the counter was kind of brisk but he had to be to keep the line moving. Otherwise you'll have a family of 8 trying 4-5 samples each & taking 30 min just to make a choice. I enjoyed my ice cream very much. We go here every time we are in time and the same couple is working every time. Unfortunately this time they were clearly understaffed with no help. It's an older couple, so things don't run at a fast pace. Rightfully so- it is what it is but they are hustling to the extent they can. This time the shelves were empty and not much selection other than ice cream. My son asked chocolate covered marshmallows the day before and they were out, we returned next day to try again. Still empty shelves. Sweet lady offered to make them fresh for him. As she's doing this for him to keep a customer, several other customers are in and out leaving because of the wait, she begs them to stay in the sweetest voice. You can tell in her voice she's trying to keep customers in but can only do so much with the two of them working. My heart hurt listening to her ask for people to stay, because she didn't want to lose their business. I appreciate their work ethic as they are working ever time we visit regardless of the time of day. If there is a wait, and things are slow-- be patient. They are doing the best they can!!! Back during a late summer 2020 trip in Arkansas, we stopped into Kilwins. We had just finished dinner and wanted to get some dessert. The candies on the shelves all looked phenomenal, and even the ones behind the glass, too. I ended up choosing ice cream because they had a particular flavor that's rare to come by and one of my favorites, Superman. Don't ask me what it is, just trust me. It's delicious. A swirl of red, blue, and yellow ice cream and it's honestly super The place was pretty busy, even during COVID, but the staff was quick to serve all customers. There was no seating. I definitely loved this ice cream place. There was a long line when we came in but it went by very fast. I got the New Orleans Praline with Pecans and it was great! It was definitely more like your basic ice cream taste but it was very satisfying because that's what we were craving (nothing too fancy). My only wish is if they offered samples because I couldn't decide between two flavors, the New Orleans and the Georgia Peach. The costumer service was great however. We stopped by this shop while walking down the avenue (visiting the place just to meet an online friend, not really to sightsee). Wife noticed it because their window showed that they served fudge. I noticed it because their window showed that they served ice cream. Despite avoiding the last ice cream shop we walked by (we had just had the milk tea in the opposite direction and didn't want to over-sugar our systems), I HAD to go into this place and try their ice cream. It's not every day where you find a place that makes BOTH chocolate AND ice cream. I've lived most of my life in California, and over there you have tons of new ice cream shops opening up one after the other - each of them boasting to have the best of the best ingredients (or at least the most interesting gimmick) - and I've been to at least half of the unique ice cream parlors there (RIP De Soto Pharmacy). Needless to say, I'm a bit of an eccentric when it comes to ice creams. And though I'm a fan of the unique flavors, the most exotic of ingredients, and the most fun of gimmicks, for me: there's nothing that quite beats the classics - chocolate and vanilla flavors. So if a place makes chocolates AND ice cream? You know I have to try their chocolate ice cream. So wife and I went in and browsed before deciding on our purchases. Wife wanted the caramel popcorn, while I got myself a waffle cone of their limited edition Kilwins Turtle chocolate (personally, I'm more of a fan of cake cones, but when it comes to trying unique or new flavors: waffle cones are the best medium when accounting both taste and texture combinations)... And, in my opinion, this is the best chocolate ice cream I've had in a LONG time (sadly, most of my favorites back in Cali shut down due to the overcompetitive markets - so I've been without my favorites for some time). The flavor was rich, but not too rich - similar to signature chocolate-vanilla combinations in small ice cream shops: the chocolate is fairly strong, but is held back to encourage larger licks/bites - which then encourages savoring texture alongside the flavor. The texture was (for me) the perfect chewiness (I prefer to bite into my ice creams, so I don't like them too soft, nor too hard) - almost like the chewiness of a vanilla bean, enough to stick to the teeth, but can melt easily against the tongue. And the cone? Pretty standard - nothing special, but not a disappointment either (at times, other ice cream shops try to make their own waffle cones fancy, but end up ruining the flavors of the ice cream in the poor combination of flavors/textures) - which is a relief. Overall, I quite love, love, LOVED the ice cream I had here. If I lived nearby, I'd definitely frequent this shop. Oh! Just went on their website: There IS one nearby! Also glad to see they finally hired some more workers cause lord knows how bad the old man that's always ran it had it for ever, came in the other night when they were packed and saw two more workers helping, however it was so busy I ended up leaving cause my pregnant friend claustrophobic.
