This was our third time staying with Joyce and Charlie, they are a fabulous couple and the best way I can describe staying here is its like going home to visit your mum and dad for the weekend. Charlie's dining room patter s fabulous! And Joyce is just lovely to chat to and they are very welcoming.
The Beechgrove is a double fronted 4 room guest house and its just a 5 min walk up the hill out of the town so its nice and quiet( not that Oban is super noisy or anything but it does have a main rd and it can get busy).
Our room was beautifully decorated and at the back of the house, we even had a walkway down to the bathroom so we decided to call it the suite :-) the bed was super comfy and there is a good selection of herbal teas out in the hall as well as a selection of tea/coffee/hot choc in the room. There is a telly and a hair dryer in each room and we also had a safe in the cupboard.
They serve breakfast up until 9.30 am and you get a choice of things like eggs Benedict and smoked salmon and scrambled eggs for breakfast as well as a buffet bar of things like croissants, cereals and juice and the usual big fry up which has local sausage in it. Our table was in the bay window of the room and because we were up the hill a bit we had an amazing view. As we are creatures of habit the boy had eggs Benedict both mornings and I had the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. Dave's eggs were perfectly poached and I had about 4 perfectly scrambled eggs and at least half a packet of local smoked salmon on my plate.
This time we were in Oban because we were getting married, Joyce popped a bottle of prosecco and a lovely card in our room which was just such a lovely touch :-) we will of course be back next year to celebrate our first wedding anniversary :-) read more
