I'll use it in a recipe or making salad dressing but right out to eat with the spoon would be a no way. I bought the dark honey at Heather Farm Maker Faire. I was stunned at tasting how good it tasted alone. The huge bonus is I have severe seasonal allergies. I've tried many local honey's before. This one works at the get go. I was having a sneezing attack from being outside. I didn't take the honey yet, but when I did my sneezing and runny nose stopped - dead on the spot! That's a wow. And the little dry jar of bee pollen I put in my hot drinks works too. They have other flavors/types too which now I'd really like to try. The trick now is to keep being able to find them to keep it in stock!

And the shop smells like the dog. There's dog fur on mostly all around the store and merchandise and corners of the store. I love dogs. I have two dogs myself. Once you know where they are located it's actually quite easy to return but this first time up is a bit of a puzzle. I found the trek to be a wonderful excursion to find that pot of gold, honey that is. The Henninger's are lovely people who warmly invite you into their home. The hillside has rows of beehives and a couple of chicken coops. She was running low on honey as this is the end of the season (apparently the high season is in the Summer) so she was limiting purchases to one bottle per person. I got an $8 bottle. She also had fresh eggs available (still warm) which I snapped up for $5 per dozen and she gave me some fresh lemons from her tree as an extra bonus. I personally enjoyed getting a dose of fresh air and taking in the amazing view of the valley. Plus, the honey, eggs & lemons were all very tasty! I'll definitely be back!

They have a super cute little farm stand selling produce, jams, syrups, and a few knickknacks. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Cosentino's also offers classes and events among the fruit trees and flower gardens. I went for a beginner's watercolor class on a warm spring afternoon. Shaded by fruit trees, about 20 of us sat at a long table decorated with fresh-cut ranunculus flowers and learned to paint tulips (very badly in my case!) from a local artist. It was a really sweet way to spend a couple of hours and remember back when orchards were the life blood of the Santa Clara Valley. The farm features heirloom fruit varieties and picks them ripe, so I'll definitely go back in the summer for stone fruits and berries. It was a little early in the season for a good selection when I went.

I've been on an aged balsamic vinegar and olive oil binge lately, and have checked out a bunch of shops ranging from San Diego to Carmel Valley near Carmel-by-the-Sea. I was excited to potentially discover a closer source of high quality balsamic vinegar and olive oil. To assess how good of a product they had, I asked for the 25 year aged balsamic and the Picual EVOO. The 25 year aged balsamic was quite watery, had OK flavor (just a bunch of basic berry and grape flavors, no honey), and had too much of a vinegary bite. In comparison, the 25 year aged balsamic that I had in Carmel Valley poured like molasses with an incredible mouthfeel, much richer and more complex flavors including oak cask flavor and an ultra-long wildflower honey note finish. Next up was the Picual EVOO. Honestly, I didn't really taste very much aside from a light olive aroma. Felt very watery, not much of that green/herbal note, no sharpness, just a whole lot of nothing. This was even more disappointing than the 25 year Balsamic. The Picual I had in Carmel Valley was punchy as it should be, tons of fresh herbs, grass, spice all up front. I don't know if it's potentially a difference in first extraction vs using the remnants/grinds. But I cannot recommend the olive oil at all. The drive really is worth it guys, until an actual proper EVOO and Vinegar places shows up in South Bay at least.

Had always been curious about beekeeping and mead so signed up for this experience via Airbnb. Our…read morehost was incredibly knowledgeable about bees and I loved the educational aspect, from beekeeping to the honey industry. We were able to see the hive with all the proper gear - totally safe - and then went in for our tasting. We were able to try all the different seasonal honeys and eventually try our hand at making our own mead based off the mead tasting we had. Was a really lovely and new experience that I'd recommend to anyone. Plus got some cool photos, mead, and a honey sample out of it!

We had been hoping to get a hive this year but were unprepared for this unexpected arrival. We scrambled to reach out to different companies and organization... before the bees were harmed by the cool weather or the swarm flew away. Emily to the RESCUE! She arrived this morning with all the necessary equipment to collect the bees and help us set up a permanent home for them. Within 20 minutes of her arrival the bees were making themselves at home in the box she had brought. She scouted our property for the perfect location for the vitality of the bees.
