Since it is not a huge restaurant you will always have the same server. She is kind and knowledgeable. Pat, the proprietor was really nice, super helpful with tips on places to eat, things to do in the town and nearby towns. The Inn itself has only 4 rooms but they were clean, and really nicely remodeled from whatever the old building used to be. High ceilings, cool fixtures and lots of wood. There were lots of historic photos of the town when it was a railroad town which added to the experience. This place was very unique in that it was above a motorcycle accessories store and attracted a lot of bikers but having them around was never disturbing. And since it was in the center of town, bars, restaurants, the river and state biking trail was easily walkable. If we ever get the urge to ride 65 miles on our bicycles again, we will definitely use the Iron Horse as our base camp again.

We were instantly intrigued and asked Josie about it. She was very helpful and gave us all the information about it. It sounded fun so we decided to rent a couple of their e-bikes the next day to ride the trail. When we returned the next day, Travis got us all set up with the bikes and explained how to use them. After riding lesser-quality e-bikes in several other cities on bike tours, we weren't expecting high quality bikes from here either, but boy were we surprised! These guys had really nice Specialized Como e-bikes for us to use. They were so easy to use and made the ride feel effortless. We had so much fun riding them that we rode the 11-mile loop three times! We also rode into town and stopped somewhere to grab lunch. I can't describe how much fun I had riding their e-bikes on the trail. Going up hills was super easy and didn't feel like work at all. I experienced the joy I felt when I was a kid and used to ride my bike everywhere. Best of all, I could keep up with my husband who is an avid cyclist. He really enjoyed it, too, and even commented that he might want to get an e-bike. I definitely see an e-bike in my future. When we got back to the bike shop Travis patiently answered all of my questions about e-bikes and the different models. He was super friendly and nice. We chatted for a while. I highly recommend this place. Their bikes are great and the service is wonderful.

Visiting Seed Savers Exchange has been on my list when the shop was closed for the season when we…read morewent to Decorah the previous year. The people were very helpful and gave me a contact to speak to about my two apple trees. I picked up a few packets of seeds as well as a pot for my Mexican Oregano. The selection of seeds was limited because it's the end of the growing season here in the Midwest. Their 2027 seeds come out in November. Also I was thrilled to pick up some Rio Gordo beans. It was nice visit and I plan to buy more seeds from them. Plus, I got to view the cliff out the front with its karst features. Always a geologist.
