    Whatever you do, stay away from John Peters (jpfurnishings). Despite their fancy stores, they are…read moreone of the most incompetent companies I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. We purchased a bedroom set (bed, mattress, wardrobe, bedside table) and sofa/armchair from them totalling over £2500. You would think spending such a large sum of money might make them focus on getting the orders right. Think again... The bed they sent us was too big, meaning that the mattress slide about on it. We contacted them about this, only for them to insist that we did NOT have the wrong mattress, all their papework stated that we had the right one. The only way we could actually convince them of this was to take pictures showing the gap between the mattress and the bed. So they sent us another bed, but this time it was a different design from the previous one. When I phoned up their delivery office, the woman didn't really seem certain what was going on and just seemed to be checking on their public website to find out what had happened. Finally on their third attempt they got it right. But that wasn't all. The wardrobe they sent didn't have a rail inside it for hanging clothes. We told them about this and they sent another in the post. Except it was the wrong shape and wouldn't fit through the guide hole. So they brought another one when they delivered the second bed, but this time it was too long and the delivery men didn't have any tools to cut it down. Again, it was only on the fourth attempt that they finally got it right. All through this process the sales/delivery team took little or no responsibility for what happened. They would constantly blame it on their 'foreign' suppliers/manufacturers failing to get the order right, but as I kept trying to point out, I wasn't doing business with them, but John Peters. When I asked on the phone for their customer complaints rep, the woman on the phone told me they didn't have one. In the end I wrote a letter of complaint to their sales department, and someone phoned me back and offered an apology, but then just went on to offer the same excuses the other members of their team had done (problems with foreign suppliers). They seem congenitally incapable of taking responsibility for their company's mistakes and offered no incentives (discounts on past or future purchases) to want to use them again. At the same time as using this company I also purchased items from John Lewis and Benson Beds, and the experience couldn't have been more different in terms of competence. The items were delivered on time, they kept me constantly up to date on when they were coming and I got exactly what I expected. This is the one and only time I will ever shop with this company. My advice would be to steer well clear of them.
