We drove up here to Dinosaur from Rangely (20 miles) based on a recommendation from a local down there when we asked where to get some good ice cream. Super cute stop for our trip! We came from Dinosaur National Monument and we're headed to Breckenridge. We have a dino-lover in the group, so it was super exciting for him in particular! There are souvenirs to grab, food, and ice cream. The only seating is outside. Worked well for us on a fall day in October. The kids all had grilled cheese. The adults had tuna melt, allosaurus, and Reuben. Staff was super friendly, and they brought our sandwiches out to us. Only reason for four instead of five stars is because the sandwiches were good but not outstanding. Would we go back if driving through, though? Probably. read more

Well well well WELL well. What a delightful little gem my roadtrip/bestie/life partner and I have stumbled upon right outside of the Utah side of Dinosaur Natty Monument. BedRock Depot is a gift shop slash sandwich counter slash soda fountain slash perfumery slash t-shirt store slash ice cream experience ("real ice cream only though, none of that nanby pamby soft serve nonsense" - quote from owner bill). My friend and I ordered two fatboi sandos at the front window, and chatted with bill as we amounted an assortment of manic souvenirs unlike any roadside stop before has offered (we've been on the road for a week, can you tell??). My palaroni bought herself a Dino Tshirt with some freshly printed comic sans lettering, and I grabbed myself a plush triceratops and a sticker that I immediately lost in the car. Anyways. As we waited for our sandwiches, Bill fixed us up with a couple-a iced coffees loaded with caffeine and misadventure. The sandos came out in about 15-20 minutes, and were scarfed in a matter of mere moments. The wait for the food was meandering and semi-chaotic, but totally worth it. Leona uses fresh ingredients and the result is simple, filling deli-made goodness. Both of us recommend stopping to see Bill and Leona if you want a real understanding of what ''mom and pop'-style genuine America is like. No pretension, just decent coffee, good food, and trinkets to bring back to your loved ones that make little to no sense at all. BedRock is, truly, the best place to stop in Dino, CO. read more

We stop in this place every single time we come through (only been about 6 times, I'm from St. Louis area). This place is not what you'd expect from a tiny, very rural town called Dinosaur. First, they sell souvenirs. The souvenirs are not tourist trap pricey. Most of them are Dinosaur themed (who'd thunk?). Second, the food. Oh my god...the food! It's pretty much all sandwiches, but the sandwiches are awesome! I'm not sure I've ever run across a grilled vegetable sandwich where eggplant was the main "meat" of the sammy until this place. Every sandwich we've tried has been spectacular. Third...ice cream! Not your typical fare. The owners make it and it is superb. They get pretty adventurous with flavors (lady finger ice cream anyone?). Fourth...the owners. Absolutely sweet people. read more

Absolutely an awesome find! Incredible my delicious (and tasty) sandwiches - but you must have a shake, malt or ice cream. We stopped while camping at DNM, and then stopped again the next day on our way out. It is incredible - food, character, friendly service. Had a great vanilla malt the first day and asked Leona about a milk/honey malt the next day and got a lesson on flavoring - she suggested not putting malt in the milk/honey ice cream and she was spot on. The place was definitely an old corner gas station and gives you the sense of being in a Mediterranean cafe via Route 66... Another customer ordered 4 malts and gave a $10 tip (40%) and the older man with bad eyesight asked if she meant to do that - and she emphatically said yes. Great place!!! read more

Such a great little find in Dinosaur! We ordered two cold sandwiches from the to-go window (one gluten free and one with a potato roll). The sandwiches were sooooo good! Packed full of meat and veggies--definitely worth the money. The older gentleman who took our order was so friendly and gave us tips on DNM. I feel like Yelp let me down on this one. 1. Overpriced. Roughly $7 for a small cold sandwich with about 4 oz of very average quality meat. You have to decide the ingredients on an order form similar to Which Wich, but without nearly the number of choices. I guess I could have more value if I wanted to put more sauces on the sandwich, but come on. 2. No kids options. Your kid will have a $7 sandwich too, which means you will have the option of finishing half of a sandwich with just meat and bun. 3. Flies. Dozens of them joined us for lunch, due to the outside garbage can. No bug zapper, just 25 flies buzzing around your face while you eat. The sandwich was basically the same quality as what my mom made me for lunch in middle school, which isn't saying much. Entirely forgettable, but it appears to be the only place in 60 miles. I can also attest to the authenticity of their malts: real ice cream, real malt powder. To order a sandwich, go past the counter and look in the window for the order slip. This place offers quality ice cream and coffee at a reasonable price. My family stopped by after a trip to Dinosaur National Monument. I believe the person working the counter was likely an owner, and she kindly warned me off of a double scoop for my youngest child, but split a single scoop into "two" scoops so that my youngest could believe she was having just what her older brothers were having. I grabbed a latte for the road, and almond milk was available, which I thought was an unexpected plus. The latte was great. The place was very clean, and the ice cream was divine. This place is the only place for miles to get any sort of food or drink, so we were not expecting much. We were referred by the park ranger working the visitor center when we made our way into Dinosaur National Park. She suggested the fresh homemade ice cream. We ended up trying a little of everything this place had to offer. Between my group of friends we ordered a custom made sandwich by filling out one of their convenient little forms, a strawberry milkshake, as well as 2 scoops of ice cream (butterscotch and chocolate.) All of the above were a lot better than we expected in this lonely little establishment. The sandwich was made on quality bread with surprisingly quality ingredients. The meat was stacked high as well as the fresh spring mix that was also piled on. The sweets were a great treat in the hot mid-day heat. The chocolate ice cream was the perfect milk chocolate lacking any sort of bitterness and the butterscotch was equally and great. The owners were amazing in giving us a local's idea as to which hikes were worth doing and specific sites to see during our stay. This place is also a souvenir shop! My husband and I went to Dinosaur NM and were hungry when we came out. Nothing available in Jensen, so we went to Dinosaur. Where it is placed on the map is wrong, because we almost missed it. The food is very tasty. I had the hallosaurus, and my husband had the Rueben. No chips or drink as we did not need it. Total price ~ $16 Great outdoor seating, store was nice. They can get a little slammed. We got there before there was a big group and it took a while to get our hot sandwiches. But the store is neat place to look. Even the bathroom was nice. and the music they had on was calming and enjoyable. I do not know if we will be back, but if we are, hopefully they will be there. read more

It smelled amazing. My son enjoyed a simple peanut butter and jelly. Everyone had ice cream while I had an iced latte. Absolutely delicious sandwiches!! We stopped here for lunch after visiting Dinosaur National Monument, 2 adults, 2 kids. Kids both got the make your own sandwiches and loved them. Husband got the grilled cheese with spinach, peppers and onions on it and raved about it. I got a make your own sandwich on toasted gluten free bread. GF bread isn't usually good, let's be honest, but I have a gluten sensitivity so I have to do it. This bread was so, so good! Good flavor, didn't crumble, I really enjoyed it. Plus, the turkey tasted nice and fresh. I should have specified light on the Dijon mustard but that's on me. We wanted to have ice cream but we were all too full after the sandwiches! BedRock has the best homemade ice-cream, and the assortment of flavors always seems to change, which I love. I've not tasted the lunch options, but am excited to do so. BedRock sells diverse and unique gifts. It's an eclectic little place, and it's wonderful to see they sell Christian gifts.
