She is, without a doubt, the most caring primary care physician I've ever been to on a regular basis. Bar none. She takes the time to actually listen to you to figure out what's really going on, which is something most drs these days sorely lack. She also takes the time to continually educate herself on new medical practices by attending professional seminars and workshops on a regular basis. I never, ever saw any sort of situation as the other review noted (rude and incompetent staff, disorganization, stacks of things falling over, etc) at any time in the 13 years I've regularly been at the clinic. I can only imagine that the review was written by a competitor, which is saddening. What I know is that Dr. Adams is an excellent health care physician and takes excellent care of her patients.

She spent close to 2 hours listening to my story, my aches and pains, asking questions and taking notes. She then proposed 3 different courses of action: one which was primarily homeopathic, one which was more mainstream, and the last which was a marriage of the two. She explained each, with each of the advantages and drawbacks. I felt like I was making an informed decision on my health care. My test results improved and I do feel much better. I sent my husband in next, and he saw Therry, whom he thought was very nice and helpful as well. Then I decided to send my daughters, because we were not happy with the treatment options they were receiving at Pediatric Associates, who just wanted to throw drugs (steroids) at my daughter, instead of trying to resolve the issue. Plus, I wanted my children to experience what it was like to be with a doctor who cared about them and really listened to their concerns. Most recently, we lost our insurance, and had to take my youngest daughter in for an infected toe! The bill at the end was something I could afford, and was worth every penny! Thank you Gaylene for your patience! To those on here complaining of the decor or all the clutter, personally, I don't like paying for expensive decor in my medical bills. As long as the rooms are clean, the work they do is sterile and professional, which it is, then I don't care about all that superficial stuff. Go see Gaylene or Therry and you won't be disappointed! The location has its own parking lot and you just need to take the elevator to the 2nd floor to reach suite 200. Everything seemed clean and I was in and out in a timely manner with minimal waiting.

My experience is with the coordinator, Marla, and unfortunately not with Dr. Orenstein…read more I called to inquire about making an appointment for myself, a new patient, and was met with complete unprofessionalism from Marla. She stated that they "were not going in that direction" of taking on new patients... odd way of saying "no" but that's fine. I then asked if they have any referrals to offer she laughed and said they didn't do that... then went on to explain that I would have to meet with the doctor to get a referral. It's not odd for a doctor to refer other professionals in their field; I've received referrals from other doctors before. Such a terrible experience for anyone suffering from anxiety or any other mental illness. Marla should consider another profession if she can't show consideration for the type of clientele that would call a psychiatrist's office.

After my first meeting I was still undecided and continued looking for doctors but made another appointment anyways and during that second meeting the basis of an extremely dynamic and trusting relationship formed. Dr. Orenstein primarily practices psychopharmacotherapy which means that he treats psychological disorders with medication in conjunction with talk therapy; however, he has admitted that this approach does not work for everyone/every condition and also offers alternative suggestions. The extent of his knowledge about psychopharmacology is extreme and he ensures that his patients are well aware of possible side effects and follows the guidelines of informed consent. One such example of an alternative therapy was suggesting exposure therapy for my driving anxiety. He suggested I try going on long driving sessions and document any changes in my mental state as time progressed. Within 2 months of following this advice (I was limited to driving on the weekends) I was able to overcome the majority of my driving anxiety and actually procure a driver's license. Additionally Dr. Orenstein follows the American Psychiatric Association's (APA) Guidelines for Ethics and Practice, erring on the side of caution. The office does this--in part--through their office policy that does not allow patients to be seen that are/have been romantically involved with a current patient or family members of current patients unless they are seeking therapy jointly (in the same session). Marla handles his scheduling and the administrative duties of the practice and does a wonderful job of accommodating busy schedules. If you have a restrictive schedule they will do their best to work around your availability and will even go as far as asking more flexible patients if they would consider moving their appointment (I have offered to change my appointment on several occasions). Overall, Dr. Orenstein is an extremely competent and effective psychiatrist who is very patient oriented.

I made a $500 payment (check confirmed cashed with my bank) and their account person refuses to update my bill, refuses to answer my calls and will not return them either. I was referred to Chris Hall, and he was amazing. What I appreciated is that he explained what was going on (or at least what was likely going on), then did a bit of the normal adjusting. Most of the appointments were spent learning different exercises and postures I could do on my own to help fix my problem long-term though. Also, when my insurance was going to run out, he offered me a heavily reduced rate (if I remember right, about what I'd pay out of pocket even with insurance) to make sure I was well enough that the exercises he taught me could take care of the rest of the problem. I definitely recommend you see him if you're in need of his services - he'll make your life so much better!

On this particular year we decided, perhaps against our better judgment, to embark on an adventure of downhill mountain biking. Now mind you, I have absolutely zero experience with downhill mountain biking. But what could go wrong? Well, we had a really great day, and there were almost no accidents or injuries. As we reached the end of the day, we decided to spend a few minutes in the mountain bike terrain park, which featured jumps and ramps of various sizes. I went off the small and medium size ramps with no issue, and I should've just declared victory and called it a day at that point. But, instead I decided to go for the largest ramp, which featured an 8 foot drop off. Do you remember the earlier part of this review where I said I had absolutely zero experience with downhill mountain biking? Well that would quickly come back to cause a few issues. As I approached the ramp leading into this big drop off, I neglected to get enough speed, which caused me to get the lip of the ramp and then go over the handlebars of my mountain bike. What in the world does this have to do with a chiropractic clinic located in Newcastle, Washington, you might be asking. Well, after suffering a fairly serious neck injury, Dr. Riordan at The Back Doctor was able to do a series of adjustments and get my neck into a far better place.
