You may have noticed that it has been Freezing McFreezeFace in Sydney recently. I particularly noticed it when my Husband went to Fiji, and I realised I had been using him as a hot water bottle, and that our doona was now hopelessly inadequate. BRRRR!!!
Having had quite enough of all of that, I sallied forth to investigate the world of doonas. Trust me, there IS a world of them! Baffling arrays of synthetic fibre right through to wool and duck or goose down, combinations of feathers and cotton, and the prices seem to go from around $100 to $1,000.
Having spoken to a variety of people in a variety of shops, with limited help, I ended up at Bed Bath and Table. Finally a sales assistant who knows his stuff. He was the only person to point out to me that there is an international warmth measurement called a "TOG". He showed me a couple, and put two aside for me whilst we went and grabbed some lunch.
I ended up buying a brand new product,a Morgan and Finch White Label Hungarian Goose Down Doona with a TOG of 10.5. It cost $650 in the King. I figured I don't buy a doona terribly often, so get the better one.
Honestly? I rate it TEN STARS!!! So light and so WARM!! We slept warmer and more comfortably last night than we have all winter.
