I like it because it's neat despite the fact that it's packed to the rafters with 'stuff'. By stuff I mean cups and sauces, picture frames, wall hooks, paints, dress up masks, wooden baskets, candles, glasses, glitter, ornaments, kids games, silver bins, cards, paper, lamps, bags, storage containers, mirrors... the list goes on. Stuff that some people may call cheap junk but others might call useful jewels. It depends on what you're looking for. House to Home is the kind of place you go if you're feeling creative and looking for a Secret Santa present or need some basic house nick knacks. Prices are more than reasonable but of course you do get what you pay for.

But honestly, this place is the way forward when it comes to those things that you don't want to spend a fortune on, but don't want to go so cheap they break the minute you get them home. Last week I walked out of here with a large candle, a medium candle, 25 tea lights, a small glass vase and a garlic crusher for $25 - not bad eh?! The best bit about this place is that it is actually an OK place to shop - it has wide isles, everything is organized and the staff know their stuff. It certainly beats fighting the crowds at a department store or squeezing through the shabby isles at a discount store.

When I went nicely to the next staff member she told me to go see the manager. When I approached the manager and showed her the out of date bottle she started screaming at me: "That's the suppliers fault and not outs. They must have delivered out of date products. We just filled it up. It's not our responsibility to check them when filling." I was shocked and just said no need to yell at me and yes it is your responsibility as a store manager to make sure your products are in date. Manager: "Fuck off and leave the store if you are not happy!" Seriously, is that a way to treat a customer? I have been going to this store for 6 years now and every time I or another customers talked to her she gets rude and screams at you. Glad the new Kitchen Warehouse opened around the corner as I will refuse going there from now on.

From tea pots to knives, Victoria Basement has what you need for the kitchen, home, bathroom, gifts and so forth. It always seems to be a bit quiet at this one probably cause i go through the week so not sure about the weekends. Staff was very accommodating in helping me find a pairing knife! I love the tea pot sets!

Who would think to put weathered woodwork alongside a starkly modern lamp, or a traditional leather Chesterfield-look lounge in a beachside setting? Or use a cowhide ottoman? Evidently not me - but somehow they make it work. I need to be braver. So far I'm just dabbling in the safer pieces, though I know how well their mixes work. Time for the Coco Republic Design School? Think I'm kidding myself - just time for the Coco Republic Interior Design service.

She suggested we purchase the eco fabric shield (with the lounge being off white, we agreed). The lounge was delivered on Wed. On Friday evening at 7:30PM we received a call from a gentleman asking if he could come over Sat 9AM (the next day) to spray the lounge with the eco fabric shield - we were flabbergasted! We were led to believe it had already been protected, and were sitting and enjoying it with our new puppy! We had no idea Coco Republic subcontracted the fabric shield application, as the sales rep did not advise. Since we were already committed on Sat, and Chris was going out of town to Brisbane, we were unable to have the lounge sprayed until almost 2 weeks later. It looked lovely covered in blankets! ;-) In addition, the "eco" fabric shield is anything but - even though we took the lounge outside to spray, we were sneezing and wheezing the remainder of the day. You can view the ingredients at furniturecareproducts.com.au - not necessarily 'eco-friendly'! When we rang Suzy the sales rep to complain, she became irate, advising the chemicals were safe to use and that Coco Republic could not spray the lounge in their facilities due the the 'dust' in the air. Very disappointing experience overall. Given the service and the exorbitant prices, we won't be returning.....

If after delving into the Caesarstone option you are deterred by some factor - its weight, maybe, or the lead time to get your piece cut and delivered - Moss also stocks a small collection of other furniture, ranging from cheap-and-cheerful plastic to designerware, plus some pretty authentic imitations (though these are sold with the proviso that they do not wear as well as the originals). Some nice indoor and outdoor homeware accessories too, but I think the main drawcard is the Caesarstone.

It is well made and looks lovely however the one error by the manufacturer was in the dimensions. I ordered a 740mm height table and received one that is about 726mm. Given they have to cut legs to put on castors I can understand maybe 0.5cm difference but not almost 1.5cm. The response from the manufacturer to MOSS was that they always make them 730mm. Doesn't seem right to me that you are told they will custom make to the size ordered ( and 740 is the standard height they have) and then the manufacturer just builds to some usual standard they are used to. I raised the issue with them and MOSS did offer to do a new one but given time for completion and a bit of a loss of confidence in the manufacturer given their response have opted to keep table. The table is great apart from the slightly lower height so I would recommend MOSS if you want a nice Ceasarstone piece but make sure you pin them down on the height and get what you ordered. These tables are not cheap.
