An update to my earlier 1 star review. I was reached out to, but no one helped me. They apologized but now asked for new documents they should have asked me for 9 months ago and have told me this process will now take over 1 year at the earliest. Nathan, the short young man there was super mean to the person in front of me for no reason, then when it was my turn for service he was super mean to me. I asked him why he is so upset and he said he didnt like me or my attitude or something???so strange because I never even met him before and just needed a new debit card. I asked him, "what did I do wrong sir"? He replied that he didn't want to help me and made me wait for a manager. How strange??? Some other nice person helped me and was very kind and got me new debit cards with no issues. I was so shocked by Nathans behavior while the manager was helping me. The manager apologized for his behavior but they let him continue his behavior with another guy in line while they helped me. Why not fire Nathan instead of letting him be mean to more people after me? As a a manager was helping me Nathan continued to be rude to the next guy in line and as that guy left he said to Nathan, "I watched you be rude to that gentleman and it was uncalled for". Nathan replied to that man with a wave and said, "Good Bye sir you can leave now". All I can say is wow! What is sad is that this is not the first time I have had witnessed this behavior at BECU, associates being super mean to people so Im closing my account. Customer Service doesn't mean anything to staff these days at BECU. I am a business owner so I know how important customer service is. Management is always kind, but why do people have to escalate to management because they hire poor quality irritable people who are mean to customers? Highly recommend finding a credit union where people are nice to you consistently. I like the BECU banking policies over all my other banks so I have put up with super poor quality BECU employees like we all do. For me, its just happened too many times, so Im closing all my business and personal accounts at BECU. Its just not the same as it once was many years ago. Wow. I had very fond memories of BECU from having opened a travel account a couple years ago at the Shoreline branch. Seriously nice people, and my eventual plan was to "move my money," as they say, away from Wells Fargo, but I needed to wait until I'd sold my house and gotten rid of my mortgage. Today (6/27/14) I stopped by this branch on Lake City for two purposes: to open new checking accounts for my boys to stow their fat stacks (and give them a debit card to use for their upcoming plane travel); and to start a new account for myself with the aforementioned goal of segueing over to a more local bank with less scurrilous, nationally reviled mortgage practices. We arrived at 5:20. The branch was not especially busy. I told the banker what I wanted to do--open three accounts--and she did that thing where you're pretending to smile with your mouth still closed but you blow it and you sneer instead. "Well. Um." (pause). "Each account can take like 30 minutes to set up." Another pause. Okay, I say, and I suggest that we could just try and get as far as we could with the boys' accounts, then, and I'd do mine later. She seemed inconvenienced at every juncture of our interaction, though she helpfully looked up to say, "You know you can do this online, right?" The boys both began shooting me looks of disbelief because even they could not believe anyone who has the job of a banker would be so averse to performing said function. We were all kind of stunned, wondering what other types of far more essential duties she'd been immersed in prior to our arrival. Maybe it was just an unusually good Facebook day. She seemed to want to hamstring us at every turn. I'd come with their passports, but that wasn't good enough. I supplied social security numbers, and that was also not enough. "You'd need to have their social security cards." Really? I have not had my own SS card since I was 17, and never needed this piece of documentation for anything-even at the passport agency. The passports ought to trump every other piece of ID out there. By this point, her own aggravation had incited my own. I have never seen a person more intent upon not performing her job. I realize that at this point it was 5:35 or so, but I'd have been happier to sign ONE kid up under pleasant and accommodating conditions than suffer through her pained wincing for the next 25 minutes, so I said, "You know what? Never mind. We'll just go back to my own bank." And we did. And I'm not remotely sorry. It's extremely rare I feel inclined to call someone out for what may have, I suppose, just been some truly awful day which she chose to inflict upon us. But because her hostility runs so profoundly antithetical to BECU's folksy, lovable advertising I think it might be useful for the branch to take notice that she made non-customers out of all three of us. read more

Today was the last straw with BECU. My account was compromised and I had to get close everything down and open new accounts. In doing so they never gave me my new account number or any information needed to setup my deposits or anything. I went in today to get temp checks and my account number so I can setup my auto payments again, something that would take a minute or two if they had tellers. Instead I go in put in my name into the queue system and stood there waiting. After about 50 mins of waiting they compiled a list and my name wasn't on it. Instead of asking how long I've been waiting and prioritizing because their system screwed up I was put on the bottom of the list. I'd injured my back so already standing for 50 mins I was already in so much pain. So now I'm trying to figure out how to close all my accounts and go to a bank that actually cares about members instead of only caring about people opening loans. It's ridiculous how badly they treat people that aren't looking to get in debt. I regret not leaving BECU sooner, their app is horrible they don't have the basic conveniences of a modern bank and they have no tellers. What benefits do members really get for their low overhead? Understaffed neighborhood centers and no one to actually care about members. At this point I'd probably chose Wells Fargo over BECU and I hate Wells Fargo. If you actually have a positive net worth and are debt free look at better banks because BECU will treat you horribly. read more

Terrible initial impression. Came to open an account and got "in line". Instructed to return when text message received indicating third in line. Returned before receiving text and after almost an hour and a half of waiting find out that our name was already called well before the text was sent. No apology. Was told by clerk that he tells people not to wait until the text! Terrible customer service. read more

We love this place. We left B of A after getting the run around on a loan application (and after 15 years as A++ customers), and BECU processed our application in 48 hrs, and gave us the thumbs up. Our experience with BECU has been great; the staff is knowledgeable, energetic, and with respect to setting up our new accounts, everything has happened just as they said it would. We have no complaints, I wish all banks operated the way BECU does. read more

After the fail of WAMU I decided to continue to stay local. Everyone is great there and it keeps jobs here in Washington. It is beyond my comprehension why anyone would want to give money to the Wall Street banks. Buy local and the job you save might be your own. read more

This bank does not make me feel like they value me as a person. They only value the money I put into their credit union. I was made to feel like a subhuman at one of their branches. They have lost me as a customer forever. read more

I've been with BECU for about a year now. The staff are always very friendly. The only issue I have is at the branches the ATMs are always crazy busy and have a line 3-5 people deep. They could use an extra ATM to handle the volume. read more

Just another dissatisfied BOA customer switching to BECU! I've only been with them for a day so this review is just based on customer service at the Lake City location. A lady named Mani worked with me on opening an account and getting a car loan. I had tons of questions and took a long time, but she was really patient all the way. She was super helpful, and I didn't feel the strained you're-a-customer-so-I-should-act-nice attitude that I sometimes get from personal bankers at BOA. read more

BECU is up to something very crooked. When I tried to open a checking account (RE-open my account), they demanded $19,567 first. What. The. Heck. Turns out they wanted me to repay a charged off car loan under a BK from back in 2006, where they were compensated $16,000-some from a short sale, and also interest on interest on top of a CHARGED OFF LOAN, no less, but BECU, for some dastardly and incomprehensible reason, felt they were entitled to more than DOUBLE their money back. Not even criminals operate this way. Well, even most criminals have a code of honor. But from a credit union? Are you serious? Ineffable, and indefensible. BECU has altruistic sounding slogans, but buried underneath is an unforgiving, unrelenting shark just waiting to take a bite out of something it is not entitled to. Never, ever again will I even set foot in BECU. Boeing Employees Credit Union, ripoff, unethical, illegal, immoral, charge-off, unforgiving. Everybody deserves a second chance. Especially a debt that's already been legally discharged by the U. S. Government. But BECU? The worst. read more

This location is becoming more and more unsafe and they need to add security. Often there are panhandlers sitting outside this location and the neighboring Bartells and they are aggressive. Be prepared to run after you make a withdrawal. Last night I went in to get some cash from the ATM around 8pm. There was a man in the parking lot staring off into space. As I look closer he proceeded to laugh into the air at nothing. I think, ok he's not all mentally there. I'm parked close to the bank so I get out of my car and go in. After getting cash I leave the bank and sense someone run up behind me which was terrifying. I turn around and it's this guy. He proceeds to laugh into the air and asks me for spare change. I told him 'sorry' as I got into my vehicle. He proceeds to star me down, put both hands on the hood of my car and doesn't let go as I proceed to back out. This was a terrifying experience. No one should be intimidated or harassed just by going about their day or leaving the bank. This plaza is being negligent by not hiring after hours security. I will never go back to this location at night or in the dark. I have no peace of mind coming to this location. They need to go a better job protecting their customers. I called police when I got home. Shame on you, Becu and Bartells plaza for not doing more to protect your customers. Cue the surveillance Update: I was in the neighborhood again last night, having dinner at 2c Thai. I was going to walk over to the Bartells and also rent a movie from the Red box and that same guy was hovering outside the entrance to Bartells so I didn't. He was wearing a black and white checkered flannel. The next time that dude messes with me he's going to get maced in the face since that business complex isn't doing anything to keep their customers safe. No security added, nothing. read more

My husband and I just got a car loan through these folks and we received wonderful customer service! The manager, Michael is a great man! There can be a bit of a wait, but it is because they truly take their time with their customers to ensure they get everything they need. read more

I had to open an account for my son. I stopped by at this branch. After about 15 minutes I got my turn. I requested the rep to expedite the process since we had another appointment in about 30 minutes. She starts the process and gets all our details - passport as ID, SSN and my DL. Five minutes into the process she says my son's passport is expired , and she needs to check with her Manager if it can still be used as an ID. She checks and comes back and then before re-starting the work tells us that it would take 45 minutes to complete the process. I asked her why it would take so much of time, and she just said that we have to sign forms and everything. We definitely could not wait that long and left the bank without opening an account. I was disappoint about not being told in the very beginning and then I could not understand why 45 minutes. read more

Just had some unauthorized charges only debit card. I closed the card and reported the charges on the phone with great customer service and went in and got a new card very easy with great customer service again. I will never go back to the big national banks. read more

Online banking options are good. Customer service is good as well. We've been members for about two years. We heard great things about getting a personal loan with BECU. Both my husband and I hold full time employment and have great credit. We were unable to get a 2500 dollar personal loan from BECU! Wha?? We applied over the phone/online. The loan rep asked us if there were lesser amounts we would accept if the underwriters did not approve this amount. We said we would - even though we thought it was weird given $2500 really isn't a large loan. They didn't even approve the lessor amounts. We are still scratching our heads over that one. We ended up getting a loan from another credit union whom we don't even bank with. From what I am reading in other reviews, we are not the first to experience poor service in lending. If it wasn't for the fact that I dislike large banks I would switch back to Bank of America. They don't have any customer loyalty but at least they are honest about who they are and they make lending easy. read more
