I was a fan of Beckys work before we booked her for our May 09 wedding and Engagement Session. Our Engagement session was amazing. We did our shoot at Millenium Park in Chicago. Becky knew all the spots to take great photos. I was beyond impressed with her knowledge of lighting, motion shooting, portraits and most of all capturing candid moment between my fiance and me. When we received our photo DVD I couldn't stop looking at them. Immediatelly I ordered photos to give out as gifts for my shower, some to put up at the wedding, made a guest book etc etc. We received so many compliments of the photos that were displayed at our house and our reception. My aunt can't stop gushing about the photo I sent as a thank you for coming to the shower. Becky captured our true fun loving nature. It was amazingly easy working with Becky, she made us fee at ease and we hit it off from the start. When our wedding day rolled around I was beyond extatic to work with Becky again. She came EARLY and ready to work. She shot me getting ready, coming out of the house, in the limo...during the ceremony Becky and her assistant were quiet and professional. After the ceremony she captured all the poses I requested including a big group shot with all of our guests! She directed our guests and us and was very efficient and timely. The photo shoot at the park got sooo creative! Becky is very aware of her surroundings and uses all opportunities for photo ops. At our reception both her and the assistant were working non-stop...before they left Becky told my husband and I she scoped out a cool brick wall that would make for some great night shots. Becky (and her wonderful second photographer Brianne) shot our August wedding and did an absolutely unbelievable job. The entire morning/early afternoon of our wedding, it was pouring rain and I was devastated that we weren't going to get to take our pictures outside. Through some divine intervention, the sun came out as we were leaving for the ceremony and we ended up getting our pictures outside. Though I had no doubt that the pictures would have been great if we had used our backup plan (Lincoln Park Conservatory - as suggested by Becky), I cannot even begin to explain how glad I am that we were able to take the pictures outside. Becky did such an amazing job using the late afternoon sunlight (yay!) to enhance the beauty of the pictures. We took the majority of pictures in Millennium Park and our pictures have both the dramatic cityscape as well as beautiful floral shots that would make you think you were anywhere besides downtown Chicago. She was able to capture not just pictures of the day but the emotions that everyone was feeling. Some of my favorite pictures are ones where no one is looking at the camera but they nonetheless capture the moment perfectly. Our wedding pictures truly display the essence of mine, my husband's, and our friends/families' personalities. We have family members that literally look at the pictures every day because they love them that much (I may or may not be including myself in that group :)) I looked at 10-15 photographers before I found Becky. Her portfolio blew me away. Her photographs are strikingly beautiful, yet possess a soft femininity that I loved. Not to mention, she's incredibly sweet and I knew from the start she would be easy to work with. She's pricy, but worth it. Becky Hill is one of the most talented and professional photographers in the Chicago area. Becky and her assistant photographed my 2007 winter wedding and they did an amazing job. Our wedding photos were even more beautiful than I ever imagined. She did mostly journalistic shots but provided standard traditional photography as well. The journalistic shots - my husband gazing at me while I am laughing, my in-laws during a slow dance, my godson's smiling face... are all treasures to me. Becky shot in both color and black and white. Her technical abilities are extraordinary. I have many shots of the red sash on my dress or my fur that take my breath away and really capture the artistic design that went into the styling. Becky is incredibly professional. She got to know both my husband and I over the course of a few months and followed up with me about our wedding details. She was quick the turnaround of our photos as well. I have just received my first wedding pictures and they are amazing!!! One of my priorities for my wedding was finding a good photographer. I am a little bit of a picture nut and am always the one taking tons of pictures at events. I knew that I would not be doing this at my wedding so I was determined to find the perfect photographer. I probably looked at about 20-30 websites and talked to at least half of these people. Becky and I clicked instantaneously. I loved her work and her easy going but professional manner was very comforting to me. During the wedding, she was excellent. She was prepared. She knew what she wanted us to do, and she was not afraid to direct us. All of this resulted in beautiful, perfect pictures! Becky was the photographer for our engagement photo session and our June 2010 wedding at the Chicago Botanic Garden. She was a delight to work with throughout the planning process - always the enthusiastic yet calm and collected professional - I was so impressed. So when the big day came, I knew the one thing I wouldn't have to stress over was the photography logistics. I knew Becky would have it completely under control, and of course she did. Then, when we saw our photos, we were absolutely blown away! The photos are perfect - so elegant and classic, they captured perfectly the themes we were going for when planning the entire day. When my Husband and I signed up to work with Becky Hill for our upcoming September 22nd, 2012 wedding, we thought all of our prayers had been answered. Her work online was wonderful and we thought it was exactly what we had been looking for. Our first encounter with Becky Hill was when we met for our engagement pictures. Becky was able to give us great location suggestions and we were really excited. As we were shooting on one of the hottest days of the year, Becky mentioned that my hair had severe fly aways due to the humidity and said there could be some issues with the shots when we received them back. We received the pictures back and the photos with the fly aways were completely unusable. We were shooting right into the sun and you could see hair everywhere in all of the skyline pictures. She said during the shoot she could touch up the photos and we were extremely disappointed when they were returned to us unedited. We asked Becky not only to edit those photos, but also if she could use the antiquing effect on some of shots at Olive Park. Becky emailed us back agreeing to touch up the photos per our requests but we never saw any additional photo updates or edits. We also noticed that all of our poses were exactly the same in each of our three locations. There was no variety and with someone with as much experience as Becky, we expected a lot more direction. As we started preparing for our September wedding, we had very few interactions with Becky. If we would email her with questions, we would have to wait several days or weeks for an answer and usually ended up emailing her again for a response. For our wedding day locations, we did a little more research than for our engagement shoot as we did not want the shots to look similar. Sadly, when we had our planning call with Becky, she wasn't very open to using the alternative locations we suggested. She ended up only reluctantly agreeing to our ideas. She also didn't seem to understand why we would want her to come meet us at the hotel for getting ready photos. We were willing to pay the additional cost and we felt as though she continued to try to talk us out of it. On the day of the wedding, Becky showed up at the hotel with her partner Brianna. On the planning call we had discussed specific shots that we wanted and I was prepared with invitations, save the dates, rings, shoes, my dress and all of the details that were really important to me. Even though we paid the additional cost for Becky to come early, Becky did not get a single shot of the bands and my engagement ring together, the picture of my mother under my dress (my mom passed away before the wedding so this was the only memory that I had of her as part of my special day), a picture of my dress hanging (she didn't even look for a spot) and the "I DO" decal under my shoes. When we went Downtown to take our pictures before the ceremony, the pictures at the locations Becky recommended turned out beautifully. The locations that we suggested, however, where Becky had no experience with shooting turned out to be only mediocre. Unfortunately, one shot that we really wanted at the Willis Tower, that I had sent a sample of beforehand to Becky, was also one of the photo casualties of the day. Becky tried to take pictures of some of our suggestions, but all of them seemed to be poor attempts with bad angles, lighting, and even one where half a wall was in the shot haphazardly. Needless to say, we were very unhappy with the final product in all of the localities we proposed. As for the ceremony shots at the hotel, we were pleased with all of the pictures. They turned out great and we were hoping for the same for the reception. Regrettably, the reception shots were awful and I actually received better pictures from my friends' iPhones. Becky didn't take any abstract shots, details, and none of the shots really portrayed the beauty of the room and night. Finally, as we waited for our wedding photos, Becky didn't even have the decency to email us and let us know that they were ready, instead we got an auto-generated email from Pictage that I actually deleted not knowing that it was our wedding pictures. I do not and will not recommend Becky Hill to any of my friends or family. She does not post her recent work, does not provide you with preview pictures, has sub par communication skills and genuinely did not seem to care about us or our wedding day. Of over 20 different vendors, Becky was by far the worst that we used for our September wedding. read more

Becky and her second photographer, Brianne, shot our wedding in October, 2012, and my husband and I could not be more pleased with how our photos turned out! We met Becky in her studio and immediately upon seeing her portfolio, I knew that her style matched the style we envisioned for our wedding: romantic and classic. Becky uses a style that will remain beautiful over time, so you won't look back at your photos 40 years from now and wonder why you chose that shot. We used her for our engagement photographs a year ahead of our wedding and were very pleased, using one of the shots on our save the date. Our wedding photographs could not have been any better. Becky is the best!! I can not recommend her highly enough. She is extremely talented, completely professional, and is just an all-around nice person! Our wedding pictures came out so beautifully--I can look at them for hours and we got married more than a year ago! Becky Hill of Becky Hill Photography shot our wedding in the Cayman Islands and she did an amazing job. She got everyone in the pics that we wanted, but did it in a beautiful, artistic way. We wanted all of the standards pics, but more importantly we wanted more of an editorial style. She fit the bill perfectly. She also made everyone feel at ease. I never worried whether she was getting everything we wanted and she didn't make it feel intrusive. I've been in a number of weddings and found her when she shot a friend's wedding. Becky was another vendor that I searched for. I met w/ other photographers that I liked but had issue w/not getting rights to our photos until a year later. That made me uncomfortable especially considering their cost. Then we met Becky and I just knew - we signed her then and there! Becky is such a talented photographer and was amazing to work with. I started getting really excited about her work after we got our engagement pictures back. If we had so many cute shots from that hour then just imagine the wedding day! And I have to say she exceeded our expectations. She and her assistant were w/ us all day and got all of the shots I wanted, but were somehow so unobtrusive. She is such a pro and so easy and fun to work with. After the wedding, Becky sent a slideshow of her favorites and everyone I showed them to died over them. Since our wedding, I've heard several times that our photographer did amazing work. And most recently, I was having a hard time deciding on photos for our album (there are too many good ones to choose from!), so Becky extended the online element to give me more time. I met with six or seven photographers when I was looking for someone to take pictures for us on our wedding day. I met several kind, capable people, but none of them felt quite right until I met with Becky Hill. I was drawn to her open and kind, but extremely professional demeanor, and to her artistically composed, yet totally real photographic style. She was an absolute pleasure to work with--extremely patient, very kind to everyone, and yet commanding of a crowd (which is really, really important during formal photographs). She and her second photographer, Brianne, made a wonderful addition to our party. She took GREAT photographs of my husband and I, in spite of his usual camera-discomfort. (We also hired her to take engagement portraits so that I could ease my then-fiance into the picture-taking, because he hates to have his picture taken! I highly recommend that if you have a camera shy man or are camera shy yourself....it made him a lot more comfortable with her the day of our wedding.) Her pictures of our family members are also really stunning, and she captured the glow of our friends and family, and all that we felt was special about our wedding. As the reception carried on, we really didn't notice her or Brianne much at all--they blended seamlessly in with our party and used long lenses to capture, unobtrusively, the heart and soul of our wedding and the people we love.
