With last year's rash of deaths of loved ones, I came to the obvious conclusion that I only have…read moreone life. That I know of anyway. Is this how I want to live it? For the first half of my life, I was a super fit athlete who ate a lot of cookie dough. For the second half of my life I worked all of the time but didn't change my eating habits. My goal is to not recognize myself by the end of this year. I will not continue looking into the mirror and longing for the thin and fit person in me... sexual metaphors aside... when I realize that all I have is NOW. Suffering = pining for someone from my past to be in my future, or lamenting that I am a size MILLION when I want to be a size 8, or saying I do not like freckles and red hair when I do not have the money nor vanity of Michael Jackson to change that about myself. All I have is NOW. The goal this year is to shed weight like kids shed clothes at Barton Springs... fast and painless and fun while, at the same time, going through an emotional breakup. This is where I knew I needed to talk with someone who could help me. With a BA in Psychology, MS in Counseling and a background in business management and corporate coaching, Pam Yagjian takes hypnotherapy to transformational levels. She listens for about the first half hour or so and takes notes. Then she hypnotizes and continues to have a conversation with my usually hidden self. Some of it I remember and some of it she reminded me of when I was no longer in a sleep-like state. She utilizes the initial talk time to guide what she says while you are hypnotized. She uncovered what I spent years hiding. It seemed fairly effortless and peaceful. We are all beautiful to the extent we allow ourselves to be known as beautiful. YOU are beautiful. Beauty eluded me, living in a body that got bigger with every breakup. What I learned with Pam was how I linked love and food at a profoundly deep level and how I put on pounds to protect myself from pain. Thirty less pounds later with 40 more to go, I can say that she works if you do. Hypnotherapy plows through deep issues in a short amount of time. All of that bullshit that I was unwilling to come clean with in talk therapy or that I simply cannot even remember that was keeping me from living the life I wanted ... is revealed in the hypnosis. Well, not all in one session... but enough to make a difference. I once said to her, "Thank you so much for helping me get through this breakup, I thought it would take years to get over this and it has taken months. You are awesome!" She smiled and said that she just listened to ME... and that I was awesome. Very empowering and very low ego. Her website includes a quote that I can see in her and how she works: "The greatest good you can do for another is not just share your riches, but to reveal to him his own." ~Benjamin Disraeli I have recommended Pam to a friend dealing with severe pain (Crohn's disease mixed with severe Arthritis mixed with debilitating Migraines) and Pam taught her to hypnotize herself so she can manage her own pain. The pain has not gone away, but now my friend has a way to actively deal with something over which she felt she had no control. I have recommended Pam to a friend who wanted to quit smoking and I learned that Pam has a 3 visit quit smoking program. She starts with an interview and if you do not really want to quit smoking, she refuses to work with you. Brilliant. I have recommended Pam to my dentist for working with patients who cannot deal with the associated pain and fear of dental appointments but who desperately need to have their teeth cared for immediately. I have recommended Pam to a friend dealing with an issue from childhood that was getting in the way of her relationship with her children and I learned that some people only take care of their own issues when they realize they may be damaging their loved ones. Now I have recommended Pam to you. All we have is now.

Using extremely gentle and skillful techniques, Pam teaches you new ways to cope with physical or emotional issues. I saw her several years ago for physical pain. My experience allowed me to refocus on what was happening in my life and to use gentle relaxation techniques to allow my body to heal. To this day, I use her powerful self hypnosis techniques to de-stress or for any issue I want to negate. Each time I worked with Pam, my nervous system fell into a very deep sleep through her methods. And while I could hear her talk to me and send my subconscious suggestions, my body was unable to react. She explained that 20 minutes of self hypnosis is equal to several hours of deep sleep. Whenever I tell her she is amazing, she turns it around to "You are amazing." Pam is a healer of extraordinary measure without ego or judgment. I recommend her for whatever is hurting you emotionally or physically. Your life starts the day you enter her office. Do it. Now.

From our initial 90 minute consultation, which was so generous, I connected with him instantly. He's not just woo woo but also very smart and methodical. We uncovered in the consultation alone a huge blocker for me in my career - basically there were two paths I couldn't decide between and he helped me to see that there was good parts of both that I wants to integrate. I'd been struggling with fatigue for weeks and this seemed to be an unlock in getting me excited about my future again and moving forward! In the hypnosis session, he said from the start we'd keep going until it was over, even if it took longer than 4 hours. We actually went a full 6 hours - I went through some deep traumatic stuff which I think neither of us expected to show up. I'd been dealing with all kinds of digestive issues for 3 years and I think that was what we processed largely. I got what I was looking for, and I truly believe there's no way out but through. Kudos to Alex for encouraging me to keep going with the difficulty even though we could have tried to glossed over it. We did eventually get to the part where I was speaking directly to some sort of true self/inner knowing at the end, which was fascinating. I still can't get over how one issue I had been toiling with for a while had a solution that was ridiculously straight forward and easy to follow. According to my experience, NLP involves changing the way we think and the language we use to get what we want. Ruba is so intuitive and insightful that she picks up on my language cues and then reflects back what all of them are hinting at. So, it seems that we already know what we need to be doing, we just need it reflected back to us. That's pretty awesome! I have to apologize if my interpretation of NLP is flawed or off. It was just a really cool experience and I can't recommend Ruba enough! She is so wonderful!

Growing up in a single parent household, unnecessary pressures built up which I held over my own head. They ruled over my consciousness until I met her and started to alleviate the blocks with her. She directs you to see your own blocks for what they are, so that you yourself are motivated to work through them. For me this means examining my emotions, pinpointing my beliefs, and carrying out the exercises she recommends for me as "homework." Like most people, I came to you very determined to quit, curious about what i'd heard about the effectiveness of hypnosis, yet very skeptical due to all of the nonsense we see on TV. From our first phone call you immediately put my mind at ease, that at least you, did not view hypnosis as some magic show, but in fact that you regarded it as a very practical and powerful art and science. I was curious and comfortable enough to give it a chance. The program you have created is nothing short of brilliant. I can't say that I fully understand how it worked, but it worked. I tried to quit on my own for years, and no matter how determined I was at times, I never had the command over my craving for nicotine, that I do now. I felt powerless before I came to you. You explained the physiology of smoking cigarettes and took me through a series of meditation sessions, and I have not touched a cigarette since. To call that magic, or a miracle, is to miss the point that we all have the will and the power to do anything we want. The job of a hypnotist is to help us realize and harness that willpower. Again thank you for helping me realize that I had the strength to do it all along. My only regret now, is that I didn't do it sooner. To any of you who have been struggling to quit something or start something new, and have been feeling powerless. Go see James.
