I wanted to buy a guitar but have some problems with my shoulder and needed help selecting a size and style I could use comfortably. I got no help from the big box stores. I walked into Music Go Round and was immediately greeted by a friendly guy named Jeff. I explained my problem and Jeff showed me a variety of styles and sizes. When he saw how uncomfortable I was, he showed me how to hold the guitar like I was playing classical and it was a revelation. It took all the pressure off my shoulder. He brought me a variety of guitars without trying to upsell at all and I landed on a beautiful Alvarez Parlor size with all Mahagony top, sides and bottom. This guitar new at Guitar stores is selling for $1,100. I bought this slightly used guitar for 1/3 that cost. And, to top it off, the store has a wonderful dog walking around. So, if you want personal service, no pressure sales, and a great bargain on a great guitar--I would stop here. At least that was my experience.

I can't say they actively discourage me in any way. It's just that some of them have a hard time feigning interest. Maybe I'm just not a cool person. I dunno. Some other places have no trouble treating me like I matter, so perhaps it isn't just me. Perhaps I have been encountering an employee who doesn't like his job. Regardless, I keep coming in to see their incredibly good, constantly-rotating inventory. One time, I even sold an amp for them just by being myself, playing some pretty tunes on a nice little setup. A nice older gentleman walked up and complimented the sound I was getting then politely asked if he could buy the amp. We had a wonderful talk and then he bought it while I walked out the door. That made me feel GOOD. That experience has sustained me over a few of the more negative experiences with aforementioned aloof employee.

They were confident they could work on the vintage instrument no problem and would finish it with two weeks max. When I tried to pick up the instrument, he said it wasn't ready. There was a couple month period where we tried to set up a time, then i couldn't get ahold of him. His phone number disconnected, email didn't exist, and website no longer existed. I finally heard from him after leaving a note in his mailbox. Came to pick up the guitar months later, and he said he refretted the guitar but couldn't setup the guitar correctly with the new bridge without resetting the neck. So he only charged me $400 something dollars instead of the $600 he quoted. Shame on me, I paid him without checking his work. Upon looking at the guitar, there was glue fingerprints all over the guitar and chunks of the fretboard were missing. Literal slice marks across the fret board. The refret job was horrible and essentially ruined my 1970 ES175. The value of the guitar has significantly dropped because of his work.

Jobs were done so quickly and beautifully, Sorder job and dents work were so satisfying and each jobs are at cost of $25 !! with tax !!! You know these days, if you drop off your brass instruments at shop, job may take some days to complete and cost is getting so expensive, but not at his place. So call him to ask his hours, if he is available to fix it while you are there or if job requires for a while, he will tell you what's going on. He manages all by himself. Himself has been freelance French-horn player as well, served Boston Pops, and many other professional playing jobs around. And his clients include authorities in the business, museums, collectors, etc. Since he is Frenchhorn player, he has quite fat list of Horn for sale. If you need to buy Frenchhorn, his place is just amazing place to check. I end up purchasing rare Mellophone by Alexander and I am very satisfied with it as well as repair work. He was busy when I knocked his door, but he was very accommodating at moment and my visit was more than 100% positive. This is real pro shop with super reasonable price. Once again, he is so straight to the point, and I appreciate his knowledge, skill and love for music. So, be clear what you need and enjoy your visit. Otherwise online business is are available for shipping, it cannot be better than this place. God Bless All.

I will definitely be back for any repair/cleaning needs, and will be recommending Pope Horns to my brass friends as well! Thank you!
