I chose this location based on Yelp reviews, so I came in sight-unseen. First impressions count, and the reception/accounting team of Veronica & Lilly set a tone of professionalism and care for their patients on my very first visit. I will miss talking with these wonderful ladies. Several support staff (interns and future therapists) on hand to assist the staff therapists, and every single one of them was professional and devoted to doing the job right. A special shout out to Tori, who took care of me almost every single visit. Hard working, caring and pleasant, I have no doubt she has a great career ahead of her. Alex was on his 2d of 3 intern stops before receiving his degree, and under Bryan's tutelage, he took exceptional care of me. Easy going, yet focused on the task at hand, I could rely on Alex to make me feel at ease, as well as test the bounds of what I could do with my shoulder. He's gonna make a fine physical therapist. Lastly, so much gratitude to Bryan Woo for his 'good hands' and literally making my PT sessions bearable and even stress relieving. He's an expert at his trade, and just seems to sense what his patients are feeling. Additionally, his leadership at the clinic is well established, as he sets a light-hearted, yet professional tone that his employees all embrace. Lastly, Bryan is just a great guy that obviously cares about making his patients whole again. I feel lucky to have chosen his clinic. Cheers! RS

My OB referred me to Karen for pelvic floor therapy at Santa Maria Valley PT due to back and hip…read morepain related to pregnancy. Karen took the time to provide education regarding pelvic floor and the benefits of strengthening it, including alleviating back and hip pain. I was surprised how many exercises and stretches there are; all of which were helpful. Karen also gave me tips for movement during labor to help with baby's positioning and descent. The most helpful piece of advice was the updated recommendation of how to breathe while in the pushing stage of labor. For my first pregnancy, I was only in labor for ~6hrs and only pushed for 1 hour. The delivering OB relayed that I had no tears and attributes this to the daily stretches I did for about a month and a half. I had a very smooth labor and think that pelvic floor therapy by Karen greatly contributed. Thank you Karen!

Good experience at SMVPT…read more I had surgery on my lower back at L3-L4 and used the pool for aquatic therapy rehab exercises. It is a very nice, clean, warm pool. It has a 5' deep section and a 4' deep section. The changing rooms were always clean and in good order. I always saw staff cleaning the facility. Even though I wore a mask every time I went, the staff knew me and addressed me on a first name basis. It felt like I was a valued patient and that felt nice. While in the lobby waiting for my turn, other patients would come in and the staff knew their names too. They were never "lost" or confused or running around looking for stuff or in a bad mood. They had their act together. I was out of pocket for my treatments and the 1st assessment visit was $90 and the pool sessions were $75 each. Session = 1 hour with about 40 to 45 minutes of that in the actual water doing the exercises. The other 10 or 15 minutes to change in/out of clothes. Facility is not too small nor too big. I was very pleased that there weren't tons of patients and people coming and going. Thank you SMVPT!

After decades of martial arts practice, including 8 years of hard core Brazilian Ju Jitsu, my 70 year old body has needed lots of physical therapy for many hurting joints and strains. Recently plagued with a very tight right side QL muscle in my back, I went to several therapists who tried various leg exercises and spinal manipulations which only worsened the condition. During the first two minutes with Dr. Mullin she got to the source of the issue, with my hip alignment being 1 inch out. Neither of the previous DPT's had even checked this. Her recommendations were spot on and helped me get back onto the water, sculling again. Thank you Dr. Mullin.

I had trouble getting treatment because of COVID, and could just manage to use the hot tub at the local gym for its soothing relief. I finally got a new doctor at UCLA and got recommended to Movement for Life Physical Therapy. This was the first and least invasive step for treatment, and has proved a great success. Matt first prescribed a series of exercises to strengthen the muscles around the area, and this helped increase flexibility and movement. When the exercises got painful, he realigned my hip socket and amazingly, the electric shock like pain I had in my leg was gone. This was about two weeks ago, and I am happy to say that the pain has not returned, so I am a happy camper. Every one I have encountered there has been upbeat, and helpful! It is a spacious, modern facility, and there is always a lot of parking. Movement for Life is located near the SLO airport, and is convenient to Route 227, a main thoroughfare into or out of town. I mention this because my previous PT was at a facility in the middle of SLO, where you had to wait to park, then dart for Highway 101 in the hopes of avoiding rush hour.
