Had my initial visit with Chris to discuss how we were going to attack my injury. It seemed to go well but after a handful of visits. I haven't even talked with Chris again. I've always had younger kids working with me. But I just can't figure out how they're supposed to write up my progress from the therapy if I've never seen the therapist again. My therapist and the aides are awesome. Hard working, personable and knowledgeable. However, not sure if it's the owners or management that over schedule. I don't feel the staff was able to give the time they know is needed for healing and teaching. Maybe I'm naive to the realities of therapy but the actual time spent on patient care was minimal. The facility looks run down and in need of updating. After a month, i realized i could continue at home and give my spot to someone who could benefit. The staff was professional however i got the vibe that they bust their butt, provide as much as they can but the the powers to be must only see dollar signs and how can we turn over the most amount of patients for minimal cost. I have mixed feelings about my experience with Sims. I've had physical therapy a few times for assorted issues in the past and this was a very different business model. You know how these days when you go to see your doctor, you're almost always fobbed off onto either a nurse practitioner or a physician's assistant? Here on the Central Coast there's a major shortage of doctors so this kind of makes sense. At Sims PT, they use the same sort of process. The PT came in, acting an AWFUL LOT like a doctor, read about my issue (sudden jacked-up neck), asked a few questions, and then turned me over to aides. Some are PT assistants and some are massage therapists, but my point is, the actual PT didn't spend any meaningful time working with me at all. Maybe 5 mins. It makes sense because they had a ton of patients moving in and out. Cha-ching! In past PT experiences (not Sims), a visit would usually take an hour and include supervision of exercises to make sure I was doing them right and then I'd be given patient handouts to take home. After that initial consultation, the PT wasn't involved again for any other visits except to do the briefest in-and-out hello. I couldn't even tell you his name. The aides told me to do some at-home exercises that they barely went over with me in the office and they didn't have any patient handouts that I could use at home. After the first visit, I got home and couldn't remember exactly what they wanted me to do. Seems kind of important to get it right. I also wanted to know what EXACTLY was going wrong and the PT wouldn't take the time to go over the actual mechanics. I've spent my career around clinicians and I know when they're trying to communicate and I know when they're throwing bullshit terminology at you because they don't want to take the time to communicate. So basically, it's well-run and the people are nice. The place was clean but a lot of things were surprisingly run-down for such an obvious cash-machine. My insurance had pre-authorized 4 visits and that's all I got. No one followed up on whether I might benefit from more than that. Next time I'll try to go to an old-school smaller place where you actually get to know your PT and they're able to keep track of how you're doing. read more

Loved this place on June 12 2021 I fractured my heel bone well in October I came to Sims Physical Therapy and their all good people Quentin Sims is a Good Guy very kind super mellow cool and he listens too. I appreciate Quentin and the rest of the Physical Therapist helping me get back on my feet. read more

Got the job done, therapist's are good, support staff is great. Office receptionist could be more amicable.

I agree with several of other clients that the PT's see you on the first visit then hand you off to the inefficient aids that are running around with too much to do so they never spend any quality time with any one client. My doctor delayed my PT because of the Coronavirus, as my age and autoimmune situation were of concern to him. He told me to communicate this to the PT, which I did and my visits at first were OK, but not as I had experienced at other PT places where the therapists actually treat you personally. On my last visit, Doug took me into the tiny OT room where I felt very claustrophobic-way too many people not practicing social distancing. An aid hooked me up to a machine (then disappeared) that had a tens unit on one side and an ultrasound on the other that was being used by another client. We were way too close! That client had two PT's working on her, one was Megan, who is an owner. About 5 minutes into my sitting down, Megan came and sat down in back of me to use a computer and she was maybe 2 feet away. She started coughing, not covering her mouth and continued to type. I told her and the other PT that it made me feel very uncomfortable to be in such close quarters and to have someone coughing on me. Megan rudely exclaimed "I have allergies" and continued to cough on my neck without covering her mouth. I ask the other PT to unhook me from the machine, which she did and the two of them smirked like they thought I was being ridiculous. There is a Coronavirus out there and it is killing people! Even if there wasn't, you should cover your mouth when you sneeze or cough! On my way out, I saw Doug and told him what happened. He was polite, but did not apologize. He just said that next time he would keep me in a room. THERE WILL BE NO NEXT TIME! read more

Unfortunately Sims is not what I remember it to be years ago. They do so much for the local High Schools that I hate to be negative but I agree with the earlier review - it's just not clean any more. The exam room looked like someone had changed an engine on the carpet! I mention this because I'm willing to help! I would be glad to come over any week day and clean the carpet in the exam room I waited in. It would make a huge difference and I'd love to do it for free with my new home carpet cleaner I just got. Very nice people, caring & attentive. Can't say getting an appointment was ideal. Had an emergency so needed immediate assessment, had to wait 19.5 days to be seen. May have been partly due to Dr. approval was not ordered as "urgent", but who knows if it would have made a difference. Ended up getting assessed at home & treated there with a different provider. It was ideal. Have visited physical therapy places in other towns, cities, & don't believe in comparing but have had some good experiences in the past that outshined this experience due long wait to be seen. read more

They are all such a nice group to work with. And I get treated well! And my symptoms are abating. So I'm one happy camper.

My daughter came in as student athlete and I would have given 5 stars but the ladies at the front desk were very rude. We had never been there so we weren't sure what the check in process was for students. The physical therapists on the other hand were amazing. Very nice, knowledgeable and personable. If you can get past the front desk attitudes it's well worth it as all the therapists were great. read more

I do not recommend. You are honeymooned on first visit then left with poorly skilled assistant there Fter. Physical therapist overwhelmed with clients. Also, developed severe bruising and hematoma after massage from a carol. read more

Marlena is awesome. Pushes me further than I thought I could go. She is technical and supportive and everything I could ask for in a PT.

I am so grateful to Doug Sims, I can't find words to express my gratitude. I had severe damage to one of my knees, it was swollen almost twice its normal size. I couldn't walk without a walker and the pain was like nothing I've ever experienced before. It took one visit with Doug to help reduce the swelling and alleviate some of the pain. He did more for me in one visit than my orthopedic Dr. had done in weeks. The owners Doug and Gino and everyone of their staff truly care for the patients they are helping thru the healing process. They all go above and beyond what one would expect in caring for the patients. If you need any type of P.T or O.T. give yourself a gift of kindness and go to Sims. They are unbelievably kind, caring and professional, but most importantly they are true healers. read more
