This company was recommended, and they might provide an excellent service, but we were so put off by the behavior of their representative, we looked for a different company to help with our problem.
We felt bullied by Ted, the guy who came out to assess the situation and give us a bid. There's no other word for how he treated us. He couldn't give us a yes or no answer, or even a three sentence response. When we asked a simple question like "is there a product you recommend for that?" he would lecture us for 10+ minutes about the different kinds of rodents and the different kinds of poison, and the different effects on the rodent of the different kinds of poison, and the history behind each product, and the best way to distribute the poison, and where to buy it, in different quantities, and the federal and state laws governing the different poisons, on and on and on in extensive, elaborate, excruciating detail. When we tried to cut in or wind him down he just paused for a second, and then said in an icy tone "If I could be allowed to finish what I was saying", and then picked up exactly where he left off, forcing us to stand there while he talked on and on and on until he finished saying what he wanted to say. He didn't seem to care that he was not being responsive to our interests.
We had a hole in the foundation from an old sewer pipe. He could have said, "you'll want to cover that securely because rodents can get in through that hole, I'll put it in the bid," but nope. Instead he spent a good ten minutes describing how his company would prepare the work space, the kind of wood they would use, the thickness of the wood, the placement of the wood, the approach they'd take to secure the wood, the three different affixing products they might use on top of the wood, and the pros and cons of each, and then further elaboration on the product they probably would use, then the steps required to prepare the product for the job, and then further elaboration on how they would layer the product on to affix the wood. His response was so elaborate and detailed we could do the job ourselves after listening to him. It was as if he was making a youtube DIY video and we, real, live people standing a few feet from him, were invisible people sitting in front of a monitor far across the globe. People he couldn't see or hear.
If we were his pest control apprentices, hungry to soak up his vast pest expertise, or even if we had offered the slightest bit of encouragement or shown the slightest bit of interest in his exhaustive lectures, that would have been different, but we just wanted a handful of questions answered, a plan of attack, and a price quote. He was so unresponsive to our interests we stopped asking our questions because we knew he would bury us in unnecessary information.
So, again, this might be an excellent company, but we couldn't face the possibility of having to interact with Ted again. read more
