I've been golfing Deer Valley for many years, and I love it there - it's my "go to" course,…read moreespecially when I can't find a great deal on something else. First, Deer Valley is an affordable course. I love to golf, but can't afford to shell out top-shelf prices for a round. HOWEVER, Deer Valley isn't exactly a cheap "hacker's course". There's a wide variety of hole styles to keep your attention, highlighted by their signature par-3 #5 that takes you 120 yards out, but straight down to a soft green. The view is intimidating, but it's a hole you could shoot at for hours. Immediately after #5, you're challenged to drive over the rocky, steep face that you just came down. There are holes with blind tee shots over hills, hard dog-leg turns, and plenty of terrain to navigate. I haven't even mentioned hole #1 - a long par 5 up a big hill (and almost always into the wind). Once you get past that hole, the rest doesn't feel too bad. Deer Valley is extremely scenic with tee boxes overlooking vast valleys. In the fall, the colors are breathtaking. Being removed from the big city, it's one of the most peaceful courses I've been on. Keep an eye on your ball, but don't forget to take in the scenic views and watch for wildlife! It's beautiful there! The new "Valley" nine is nice, but I still like the Ridge and Prairie best. Valley is a little tighter and most of the holes run in, you guessed it, the valley... Definitely a course worth hitting. If you're a prude and want to be addressed as "Mister", have your clubs cleaned by some high school boy working for tips, go somewhere else. If you're looking for a course that is great bang for the buck, to hang out with some friends and have a great time - hit Deer Valley.

We never received drink refills, and the server did not check on us after the food arrived. - Food Quality: One of the orders was incorrect and remained uneaten. Overall, we found the food quality to be poor. - Accommodations: There was no children's menu available, which was unexpected. - Management: Although a manager was walking through the dining room, the lack of service and the issues at our table went unnoticed. - staff refused to walk over to ask how the food is, never refilled drinks. We were there early in the day so it wasn't very busy, but there's virtual golf, a shuffleboard table, a bar and probably more stuff that we didn't see. In one hour we fit in two games with four people pretty much perfectly (we picked up the pace in round 2). The digital scorekeeping is very helpful! Watch out for the ball return: it spat out the ball onto the floor about half the time, so mind your feet! It was very hot in the place despite it not being terribly warm outside; we were all sweating! Overall though, I was thrilled to have an opportunity to go bowling again since I haven't been able to in quite a while.

We happened to be there on a Sunday at 9pm, where there was a discount for $25/hour. We stayed until closing at 11pm and it was fun. The system allows you to explore different courses, practice on the driving range, record yourself to watch your form, and good and drinks. The staff were friendly, considering it's Chicago. It also want busy. I believe there were 11 bays, each with their own club set. The downside was probably the tech didn't always capture angles and whatnot correctly so there were a few glitches on occasion. We also didn't have every club in the golf bag they provided so it would be nice to have that organized. It's also on the pricey end. Overall, it was our first time doing the experience and we enjoyed it. There seems to be other locations with a different atmosphere perhaps we can check out on another visit. Happy exploring!
