I had to go back later in the afternoon to get it fixed after I noticed uneven strands of hair. I also had to ask my hair to be washed again as their hair product made it look greasy. The haircut was fine in the end but the overall customer experience was poor and I'll opt for a hair salon that takes more time with their patrons.

Is it crazy that an American girl would go all the way to Lisbon for a hair appointment? Hell no,…read morewhen the appointment is at Facto! In full disclosure, I was already in Europe, but I had plenty of other cities and salons to choose from. I did some online research, discovered Facto, and my gut told me it was the right place for me. Was I ever right, and you can bet I'm going back. I'm already planning my return to Europe with a first stop in Lisbon for another fabulous Facto day! The atmosphere at Facto is ELECTRIC, with owner Antony Millard leading the charge. An absolute gem of a guy--a heart of gold in the guise of a rocker. One of the most touching things to me was seeing Antony's caring, charismatic interactions with all his staff, and how they all engaged with each other. They're obviously friends, but even more so--they're a Facto family. And as for Ana, my stylist, where to begin? She's pure genius with color, treatment, cut, and style. I went in with badly dried-out hair from a summer of sea swimming, the remnants of a previous botched color job, and a photo of the new style I wanted. Ana delivered all that I wanted and more. We talked about what to do, and it became immediately obvious that she knew how to handle my mess. "I trust you," I said. "Do whatever you want." She painstakingly colored my hair, applied a deep condition/repair treatment (Liquid Hair), cut it brilliantly, and styled it in a way I'm actually able to repeat. During the whole process, she took time to show the up and coming stylists in the salon the various techniques she used. That's pure Facto--everyone pitching in , helping out, and learning from one another. I couldn't be happier with my hair. It's fresh and new, and yet it also feels more like me than ever before. While I was in the chair (because I spent a good 5 hours there!), I watched several clients come and go. Each person left looking like they felt like the most beautiful person on earth, and the most beautiful version of themselves. And that's exactly how I felt when it was finally time for me to go. Thank you, Facto, and especially Ana and Antony, for the experience! I can't wait to return!

Sad to have only found this place now as I may be leaving portugal soon. But for now, I'll be coming here all the time! My guy is Emanuel! Hands down the freaking best. He did an amazing job with my haircut, color, and style. Not only does he know how to treat my hair, he is also attentive, fun, and funny. Thank you, Emanuel. You are so gifted. I'll see you soon!

How does floating in a space pod of warm salty water in total darkness and quietness sounds to you?…read more Scary? Fun? If it's the latter, you may want to give this a try! Epsom salt increases the density of water, so you'll float without drowning. Supposedly the lack of outside stimuli will allow you to totally relax. Moreover, your muscles will be relaxed in the quasi weightlessness. When I found that this place costs almost half of similar places in U.S. I figure it's a nice item to add on my agenda. The spa has only two floating rooms, so be sure to make reservations ahead of time. They also offer massages and stuff. Staff is very nice, both when I called for reservation and when I got there. We were given slippers and tea as we checked in, then led into our rooms. The dimly lit room has the space pod in the center, and a shower in the corner. After shower you can get into the pod. The controls for light and music are located near your feet. Earplugs and towels are provided. Be very careful not to get any water into your eyes and mouth - not pleasant at all!! If you have done meditation or yoga, you definitely will have a easier time quieting your mind, and not going crazy about having nothing to do for 45 mins. It's an interesting experience to be just floating, though I didn't relax as much as I expected. The problem is: breathing. You don't usually hear your own breathing. But try covering your ears with your hands and breath. No matter how lightly you breath, there's noise of air moving through. If you breath very shallowly you can almost be totally quiet, but then it doesn't help you relax - long, deep breaths do, but then they are LOUD. i didn't quite figure out this part, and I would have enjoyed the float a lot more. Slowly the light is turned on, to let you know it's time to climb out of the tub. Afterwards, we were led to the relaxation room, where we could sit back and enjoy some tea.

Pros: they took us in last minute with no appointment. Cons:…read morewhere do I start? 1. The place is horror house dirty 2. It feels like the hairdressers just started doing hair that same day. 3. One of the hairdresser is pure evil borderline c u next Tuesday. She started blow drying my hair from the middle which makes no sense. I tried to show her how to do my hair from the bottom then she started putting wet hair on top of half dried hair, again I tried to tell her in a polite way to dry the hair below first! Then she got all offended and started cursing me in Portuguese and mocking me to the other hairdresser who seemed rather embarrassed! The mockery continued for a good 10 minute and I just sat there quietly brewing cuz I didn't want her to chop my hair off or do something vindictive! She starts finally talking to my mom who was getting her hair done by another hairdresser who did a much bette job and she goes "you have nice hair but your daughter's hair is frizzy and a lot of work, you seem so laid back but your daughter's a control freak, and she needs to chill". My mom at this point was just trying to be the peace maker as she could tell I was this close to killing the obnoxious biatch! My mom asked her where she was from and she told us she's French! At this point I'm like "Well that explains it". The dumb c u next Tuesday goes "oh you guys could tell I'm French cuz I'm blonde and don't look dark like the Portuguese!". I'm like no your nails are a dead giveaway - they were chipped - and you just don't have the Portuguese warmth and hospitality! 4. We come to pay the bill and it says on the door 5 euro for a blowout but she charges us 15 euros even though our hair was already washed! My mom rushed to pay and tip the psycho before I could say anything! Advice: do not go there under any any circumstances unless you enjoy having a witch play with your hair while wreaking of cigarettes! Horrendous experience and the result is frizzy
