In May of this year I went to get a new partial not covered by insurance. They gave me a price and took a deposit for exactly half of that. I paid the balance they requested on the day of service. After that a new manager and staff said I owed another $1,200 but said the entire staff I dealt with had been fired and they had no notes or computer entries saying they had given me that price. It was my word against theirs. The receptionist was incredibly rude and District Manager was nice at first and then turned nasty when I asked for documentation. I have filed a complaint with the Attorney Generals office for unethical practice. After 20 years of being a patient there it was unimaginable that they would do that even though they are new owner. She sent me to have three teeth removed. While I was waiting for those sites to heal I lost the tip of another. I went in to have the tip repaired and she also did purely cosmetic fillings on the outside surface with the warning it might not last. She was right. It didn't. I paid over $800 for a gloss that fell out after two weeks. It's been a year now and the tip repair has fallen out, too. I had a partial plate with six teeth built for almost $2K. I can't wear it. It gives me a speech impediment. She said, "Oh, just read the newpaper outloud." There is so much plastic I can't find my alveolar ridge to form an l, n, d, or t. There is even plastic on the back surface of the upper front teeth, that I can't form an Italian l either. I'm a voice professional and must be able to perform in Italian, French, and English as well as demonstrate to my students. The only positives about the office are the delightful woman in the front office and the very healthy croton that gets morning sunshine through the window. Avoid at all costs. I have spoken with others who unanimously share my opinions, but they don't seem to register reviews here.

Soooo seeing as how I was at my 6-month mark I made an appointment with a dentist in NYC. After I left the appointment all I could think about was Clay Dental Care, and how much I missed them! I've been going to CDC since I was a kid and in 20-something years I don't have a single complaint. Why are they so awesome? Here are a few reasons: - The Dr's, the hygienists, the assistants - all of them are seriously the nicest people. They've got hundreds of patients and each and every person in the building remembers my name, and always asks how my Hubs and life in NYC is, so nice! - The place is so clean and up-to-date too. This is a team of people who care about where they work and making patients comfortable. TV & magazines in the comfy waiting room, all of the exam rooms are decorated with items showing off each dr/hygienists personality, there's XM radio playing smooth tunes. - The staff is great about explaining everything they're doing and they take their time - whether it's xrays, getting rid of that tarter buildup or shinning everything up. - There's an assortment of toothpaste flavors available for your cleaning. Don't be ashamed to ask for bubble gum! :-) - Not only do I get a toothbrush when I'm done - but toothpaste and floss and sometimes mouth wash. Once I was given a tooth brushing timer, which I still use occasionally! Did you guys know you're supposed to brush for 2 minutes!? It's true. I really really missed CDC this week... my next cleaning should be in about 6 months and I'm going to start planning my trip upstate now. I'd absolutely travel 250+ miles to get my teeth checked here. For those in central NY looking for a dentist - consider giving Clay Dental Care a call. They are seriously the best!
