We really enjoyed this Castle, a pity that some areas are of no access but safety is a priority. The cost for the castle is £15.75 for a family (2 adults and up to 3 children) which is well worth it. The kids loved it too! (10 and 7 yrs).

During a recently holiday to Anglesey we visit the castle and I was really pleased that we did. The castle itself is kept in and excellent condition and the staff in the entry / shop are very friendly. Access to the site is excellent you get to climb up the turrets and walk along the top of one of the walls, the walkways are enclosed and are safe for SUPERVISED children. Disabled access is poor but as you would suspect when this castle was built disabled access wasn't a priority.

Festival No. 6 - Queuing for the shuttle buses

My first *ever* multi-day music festival (a sheltered adolescence, you see...)…read more FN6 was suggested to me by learned friends as a great 'entry-level' festival to cut my teeth on, and they weren't wrong. Much smaller than the behemoths such as Glastonbury, at 15,000 capacity, it sounded like a decent-sized event to me. Held in and around the seriously picturesque coastal tourist village of Portmeirion in north Wales, their tag line of "A festival like no other in a location like no other" was absolutely spot on. A pal and I headed down there on Thursday as we had weekend camping tickets; meaning we could get set up and start exploring the area before the masses arrived after work on the Friday. This really worked in our favour, as the queues to get our wristbands in nearby Porthmadog (where the park and ride and shuttle buses were) moved fairly steadily. Getting on to site, we carried everything we had up to the general camping area (be sure to think ahead about your choice of bag) - lots of people had small hand-pull trolleys and I even saw a bloke dragging a wheelie bin with his stuff inside. Genius. There's plenty to see and do around the site, with smaller stages in the forest by the beach and to the sides of the main arena. A fantastic range of food stalls were selling all manner of tasty dishes. The have a real ale and a cider bar so don't worry there's more than just commercial lager on tap. We brought our own stash of beers though - you can bring alcohol with you but absolutely no glass bottles. The headliners this year included Kaiser Chiefs, Bastille, Hot Chip and Noel Gallagher, but for me it was the lesser and unknown acts singing, DJing and performing comedy who made it a terrific long weekend (despite the biblical levels of rain and subsequent mud-fest). Though I admit I missed my mattress and my power shower, it was a great experience!

Little by name, little by exterior but certainly not little by nature. This Tardis of a theatre…read morelooks like barely anything from the outside, a narrow bit of building with a sign that makes one whimsical, thinking this is what theatres in urban New York must be like. Once you're inside it might look somewhat dated, it might not have the contemporary architecture or interior design of a lot of bigger, newer theatres these days, but there's a real gutsy David as opposed to Goliath feel to the place and it reminds me of the university theatre my drama group used to borrow for our productions. Yes, I was in a drama group when I was younger, big whoop, wanna fight about it? The Little Theatre just feels homey to me. The decor is rather traditional, the seats are usually red and in the auditorium they're those flippy ones that smack you in the buns when you stand up, and the staff are older than the usual types you get at theatres nowadays but you get the feeling they're working there for a reason - because they care. It's like all those old, beautiful cinemas that have sadly closed down and given way to multiplexes and bingo halls. I hope this never happens to The Little Theatre. People still go there because the stage is more than adequate for any production, be it Shakespeare or family friendly, Miller or Orton, heck, it's practically made for Beckett given the simplicity. And the bar's a really nice well polished area where you can chinwag and grab a nice strong G&T before the show. I think it certainly deserves to be here and alongside Southport's various arts centres and galleries, The Little Theatre stands proud as a symbol of the seaside town's excellent little culture hub. I love it.
