My vehicle was running very rough and the check engine light came on. I immediately took it in. Jimmy said they would have an answer for me by the next day, which was true. He said the repair would be around $500. No problem. They called the next day and said it was ready. I was then presented a bill for almost $1600.00. I inquired why the repairs increased by $1100. Vinny said he called and talked to my husband who gave him the approval. Ummmm... no. My husband didn't even know there was a problem as he was in Europe on business. He said well 'someone' approved it. Unless it was my dog or my 15 year old son, that was a lie. He then said the problem was my fuel system and fouled spark plugs and rocker arms. I was not happy but paid. I got in my "repaired " vehicle and the same problems were still happening. Engine running rough and check engine light was still illuminated. I walked back in and inquired about it. I was told that until I replace all the valves that was going to happen and said to totally fix it the cost would be about $6000. I nearly fainted! I left and took it to Kelly's in Dunnellon. They did a quick analysis and said it was a bad tank of gas. They purged the gas, put in a new tank full for me and only charged me for the gas. It's been purring like a kitten ever since and the check engine light turned off immediately. So George's ripped me off for $1600. Hope they are happy. We will never go back.

Oddly, the A/C felt colder when we picked it up, suggesting a test drive may have just happened. Another vehicle took nearly two weeks just to get in. Once dropped off, they forgot we even brought it in, quoted repairs we didn't ask for, and never called when it was ready -- a recurring issue. The staff is friendly, but communication and reliability have seriously declined. It feels like they're too busy to care, and that's disappointing after being loyal customers for years.

Within 90 minutes, the customer service representative, April, called to inform us that the engine was dead. She also mentioned that the manufacturer had recently added an extended warranty for engine failures. Unknown to us, our engine was still covered under this warranty, and the manufacturer would replace it at no cost. We appreciate the thorough and complimentary service provided by Swander's and April. It's refreshing to find such outstanding service and goodwill in the automotive maintenance industry. We will definitely return to Swander's in the future.

We were ignored until after filing a complaint with the BBB. When we did finally get a reply, it dismissed all concerns and offered no solution. We again responded professionally, hoping for resolution--but were ignored yet again. The lack of accountability and poor quality control is completely unacceptable. We're now stuck with a $467 loss and additional fuel and logistical costs from relying on one vehicle. Avoid Swander's if you expect honest, thorough, or responsive service.
