I lived in these apartments for four years from 2011-2015. During that time, I found many blatant…read moreproblems with both the apartments themselves, and the apartment staff.
Since the location is right next to highway 65, you can be woken up late at night or early in the morning by racing hot rods or semi trucks letting out the brake pressure. Not to mention you're right down the street from Woodgate, some of the cheapest and worst apartments in the city, which attracts the wrong type of sketchy people.
If you are a nonsmoker, you don't want to live here. The AC is shared between apartments in the same building and the cigarette smoke from your neighbors spills over from one unit to the next. When I mentioned this problem, management said they would install incense in the vents so I wouldn't have to smell it. That doesn't fix the problem. It's horrible to have allergies to cigarette smoke, or to have your home and clothes stink because of how bad the neighbors are, with no help from management. I placed air filters over the air vents, only for them to change from pure white to jet black in under 90 days because of how bad the air quality was.
Management was very lax on apartment repairs. It would take several weeks or more to fix a broken ceiling fan. The only time they acted quickly was when my shower broke and was flooding the bathroom. When someone knocked an elbow sized hole in one of the walls on the stairwell of my building, it took months for it to be repaired. Maintenance will let themselves into your apartment at any time throughout the day, with no notice at all. I woke up to get ready for work one day, only to find a maintenance guy in my bathroom repainting the ceiling.
The entire apartment package is an extreme over exaggeration. Although they claim to have a fitness center, it was one small cable push down machine, no dumbbells or barbells whatsoever, and three treadmills, two of which were broken. The "fitness center" was closed for several weeks when someone drove their car through the door and the entire wall had to be replaced. The pool mentioned in the apartment advertisement is very small, and is located off site at the next apartment over, so it's a bit of a walk to get there, and it's usually very crowded.
When the parking lot was repaved there wasn't much of a notice, and there wasn't enough room for all vehicles to park in the remaining available spots. Because of my late shift job, I was forced to park at a different apartment a half mile up the street when all parking in the apartments were taken. Repaving the parking lot took more than a month.
There was a HUGE bug problem. My neighbor across the hall had bedbugs drop into her apartment from the person who lived above her, and it was common for cockroaches to try to crawl underneath your front door.
Petty crime and lack of safety was a serious issue. There was no local security, so you literally had to fend for yourself. Laundry would be stolen from the on site laundromat, so you had to be very on guard anytime you used it. It wasn't uncommon to have drug addicts or drunks wandering around the parking lot, with the occasional shirtless fist fight. Random people would approach you and ask for money or cigarettes. I was followed home by a creeper while I was walking inside from my car, who stared at my building after I walked in long enough to smoke a cigarette before leaving.
Police would be called for domestic assaults. My neighbor would have police show up outside his apartment door, or he would stumble home drunk at 3am and try opening my front door when he forgot where he lived. The lady down the hall from me fell asleep with the stove on once and caught her apartment on fire.
When I bought a new car, all four tires were slashed in the first month when some drug addicts had an ongoing dispute with someone who had the same color and model car as me. I saw another car identical to mine up on blocks a week later after they had stabbed the "correct" car tires this time.
Overall, Quail Ridge is a horrible place to live that I cannot recommend at any level whatsoever. The location is bad, it's not safe or clean, and is incompetently managed. The happiest day of my time here was the day I moved out.
