The staff were friendly and kind they listened to my wife and cared about her as a person. We got there when there was no emergency line, and they took us right back. The staff were attentive and did the how they could to make my wife comfortable. This is an exemplary facility. We had to stop few times on the way and finally went to the ER. Luckily, they weren't very busy. We got checked in and taken to the room in 10 min. The nurse and MD were both very nice. Once they found out that we had a flight home in just a few hrs and still had a way to go to SLC they took care of us pretty fast. Basic labs were done in 10 min and I was given copy. They had a central check in desk and waiting area right inside the doors. Once checked in, you can sit relax, while tracking your status on the posted TV screen showing the procedures in the queue and what doctor is assigned. Once we were called back, they set us up in a cubby hole type room with walls on 3 sides and open to the hall with a pull curtain for privacy. The nurses station was right outside our room so we heard all the conversations that they had both professional and personal. They had a drink station in the area, that family can use when waiting for the patient. Our procedure took longer for the preparation and waiting, than the procedure itself. We were in and out in less and 20 minutes for the actual procedure. Unfortunately, the computer system screwed up our discharge orders and we had to wait around longer than we wanted and then never got the paperwork in the end. I like the convenience and efficiency of the surgical center, but they need a bit of work on the processing-of-patients part.

We have been through this scenario multiple times with her over the years at a different Ogden hospital and the same situations with my dad who passed years ago and without family being there 24/7 they would have died in the hospital. At McKay Dee they were so professional and kind I was shocked. Even the CNA's were very competent and kind which made for a constant rotation of people attending to her multitude of needs. Sometimes hospital reviews can be dependent upon the outcome of the patient affecting how family feels about the experience. My mother's outcome isn't great, but it wasn't for lack of care. They just have wonderful people working there.

Since this was my last baby, I was really hoping for something better than my previous births with my other two daughters. Let me just say--it was the most amazing experience I've ever had. I was treated with such care, like a close family member was looking after me. The staff constantly checked in to make sure I was okay, explained everything clearly, and truly made me feel supported. My baby stayed in the room with me almost the entire time--only leaving briefly for a few necessary tests--and the nurses were kind, patient, and incredibly understanding. Honestly, it didn't feel like a regular hospital at all--it felt peaceful, warm, and focused on me and my baby. If you're on the fence about coming here, I say go for it. If you come in off the street with mysterious foot pain like I did, you may wait a long while, or you may be bounced to another clinic. Good news is there's loads of paperwork to fill out while you wait..but they work with you financially if you're in the Obamacare 'donut hole' like me. I paid a very fair price for diagnosis, blood work and medication. Facilities are clean and new, and they can do a lot in-house. They even have dentistry onsite. This is a branch of Bear River Health, who does a lot to make health care more accessible to our community.
