We had the most incredible experience with BearLake Funtime today. We rented jet skis at a reasonable rate and it was very convenient to book our reservation online. However, the main reason for my glowing review is the team of people who helped us. They went above and beyond to ensure we had an enjoyed experience. From their general friendly upbeat nature, to just too notch customer service. Sometimes you get one or two friendly people but everyone We interacted with were wonderful. We were visiting Bear lake to go fishing just before the busy season. I was unable to find a fishing boat available due to being just before boat rental season. I was able to contact Bear Lake Funtime and they we willing to rent us a fishing boat. I just had to call them and make a reservation. Upon pickup the staff was friendly. We signed the rental contract and read the safety information. We were told to pick out a safety vest from a pile of very dusty vests. We hooked up the boat to our truck to tow it to the marina. Usually they rent this boat from the marina but they required us to tow it there for some reason. It was early in the season but if it was my company I would have launched it for the customer. Not a huge deal for me since I have towed and launched many boats, but might be an issue for others. We inspected the boat for damages and went over the motor controls. Launching the boat was easy enough however they didn't tell us we had to pay $8 at the launch ramp. We didn't have $8 in cash when we got there. The boat didn't have proper ropes for launching or tying up the boat, just a small string. I used one of my ratchet straps to tie the boat to the dock. The boat was not very clean as the bottom was covered with leaves and there was a puddle of water in the bottom. While on the lake my foot was sitting in a puddle of water. The boat ran great with no motor problems. However, I was disappointed to learn that the fish finder on the boat didn't turn on. I was also disappointed to learn there are no fishing rod holders on the boat at all. If the boat and vests were cleaned a little better or at least dry, proper launching ropes, a working fish finder, and they told me about the $8 fee at the launch ramp, I would have given them 5 stars. First of all, I am a multi-time return customer, and have always had a great experience, but today the Marina rentals staff went above and beyond for me. We decided last minute to rent two sea dos during raspberry days (busiest weekend of the year) and we were able to rent them no problem. Upon arrival to pick them up, we were greeted with such a happy and positive employee, Sydney H who was informative and courteous and fun to chat with. Jake took us to the sea dos and went over everything and we were off. It was simple, but covered what they needed us to know! Jake also made sure to give us our full 7 hours of time and didn't count the check-in time against us. Just before we started back for the night, we ran into some issues with the motor on one of the machines not sounding right. We didn't want to drive it and risk damage, so we called, Nicole answered, and she was super kind and helpful in directing us how to get the craft back. When we got there, Sydney C met us to get the machine out of the water and checked things out. A rock was stuck in the propeller!! Our bad!!!! BUT, she didn't make us feel super bad about it and was totally willing to work with us on a fix. Even though this unexpected issue costs us more money than planned, the experience was a very positive one. I will definitely be back, and I hope the same staff is there because they are amazing!! We rented a 20 foot ski boat and 6 person banana sled on July 8, 2022 and my family had a great time, but the boat needed some repairs - some of the hinge latches need screws and I was concerned that the rear ladder cover was going to fall off. We also rented a water trampoline and slide attachment. The trampoline was very difficult to climb on and the slide attachment did not work at all. I pointed out these problems when I returned the boat, but the staff and facility manager didn't care. They told me it was my fault for not knowing how to use them. I asked for a refund of $85 for the slide since we could not use it at all. Again they refused my request and told me they could not give any refunds since I reserved them on line. This response was ridiculous. Most good companies give a much higher priority to customer service. I called one of the other main facilities of the company and they told me that I could register my complaint on line if needed. I thought great - maybe someone in a higher position might be interested in these problems. After my initial review of one star because of poor customer service I was contacted by the owner who told me he was sorry I had a poor experience. He offered to refund my slide rental fee and take steps to improve customer service. I was very happy to hear from him and was impressed with his concern. First, my family has a cabin on the lake and it's always nice taking a boat out. I rent boats from Bear Lake Fun every year and have never had an issue. However, my last experience left me feeling very frustrated. I rented a boat online for the last weekend of June to enjoy a nice day on the lake with my family, friends and several kids. We reserved the large boat so we could fit a lot of people to go tubing and wake boarding. I reserved the boat a week or so in advance to ensure I'd have one as they generally get reserved quickly. Later that week the weather report turned for the worse and it ended up being about 55 degrees that weekend. I showed up on Saturday and informed the staff that it was really cold so no one in our group wanted to get in the water. We had a four-hour reservation and really wanted to cancel it but instead would just like it for one hour to put around because it was chilly. At first, I was told that I could take the boat out as long as I wanted, and they would only charge me for the time it was used. As we were gathering our life jackets, they told me that they would have to charge me for the entire 4 hour rental regardless of how long I used the boat because I reserved it online. I told them it was too cold and no one wanted to ride the boat for that long or use the wake board. The boat had not even been launched in the water yet. They said that they didn't have a way in their system to refund my money and it could only be done by the owner. I asked them to have the owner do that as we would not need a boat for 4 hours in the cold. They told me my only option would be to come back the next day and use any remaining money to rent other gear (kayaks or jet skis). I asked that they look into the refund for me while we were on the boat. They pulled the boat out onto the water and I loaded up. As the guy was going over the instructions, he made a comment that the weather looked bad out there so if I needed to come back early, they would only charge for the time I was out there. I departed on the lake and a fierce windstorm picked up. I drove about three miles when I felt that the conditions were unsafe on the water for a motorboat. I was nervous of capsizing as there were waves splashing over the bow. I immediately turned around and returned the boat. When I arrived back to the rental shop, I told the guy that the conditions were unsafe for a motorboat. He agreed and told me that he already canceled all other boat rides as the waves were too big and conditions were unsafe. I asked for a refund at the counter. They said I needed to pay for the first hour (really about 20-30 mins) and the gas. I was fine with that even though it was not a fun ride, rather scary. I asked for a refund for the other three hours but they told me they were unable to do that. If I had not rented online they could give me a refund but when renting online they could not refund me. Basically, I paid about $550 for a 30 min boat ride. They said the only thing I could do was contact the owner. It's now been three weeks and I have not been able to get a response from the owner. When I call no one is able to help and I have to leave a message. I've left LOTS of messages but no follow up. I've sent several emails through the website with no response. I do not recommend this kind of service. I've always recommended this rental shop in the past but it's extremely unreasonable to charge me for a service I was unable to use. I wish someone would contact me back and make this right. read more

Rented a jet ski, and according to their "policy" if it is started in the wrong are, you get to pay their $50 dollar fine. At no time is there any discussion of where it is safe to start the engine so you can use it. After testing they found no damage, but still charge you for breaking the rule that no one tells you about. So glad that your employees don't do their job, but the customers get to pay for it. read more

We had a family reunion at bear lake and rented a boat from rendezvous rentals. After they rented the boat to us and we were on the water, they called us and said that they rented the boat to someone else, and that we had to return the boat. This isn't a typo, they literally rented the same boat to two people. Anyway, they offered 15% off, we asked to not be charged for the boat rental, they refused. They said to sue them if we didn't like it. When they went to charge our credit card, Taylor said he wasn't offering the 15% discount he previously offered because I was "a fu**ing d**k!". Long story short, Taylor seems to be running a dumpster fire of a business and I would highly recommend you rent your equipment from any other location. read more

We booked a pontoon boat for today over a month ago and we were really looking forward to a fun and relaxing day on the lake. However, just as we pulled into the marina parking lot after driving two hours from SLC (and after paying the $20 parking fee) we received a phone call saying that the boat we rented had just broken down and they would need to cancel our reservation. I know things happen but shouldn't the boats be in good working order for the day's rentals? I made a reservation online for a jet ski and a paddle board. I made a mistake and accidentally reserved it for the month before I needed it and didn't realize it until we went to pick it up. That being said, the person I talked to on the phone to make sure I had properly done my reservation also missed the fact that I had done it a month early. When we showed up we lucked out that they had one available, but they would not refund us at all for the $99 deposit on the mistaken reservation. We had to do a whole new reservation. (Actually, I think they offered us 10% off of that.) It took a very long time to get our jet ski and the rental starts at 9:am. The person who hooked our jet ski up to our car asked us where we were going and when my husband said North Beach, he said that the best place for us to put in would be Rendezvous Beach because the water wasn't as shallow. North Beach has a $5 fee per car (we had two cars) and Rendezvous has a $15 fee. We got to Rendezvous, paid to get in, and then saw the dock (or not dock). People just drive onto the sandy beach and into the water to put their watercrafts in. We were so puzzled that he would suggest that beach because he saw our car. It was super frustrating because at this point we had already wasted two hours of our rental time. Then we realized that they had not given us a paddle for the paddle boat. It was all a big hassle and they were not at all sympathetic or helpful. They will refund you for NOTHING. They charge you for EVERYTHING. (The day I made the reservation I called to see if I could change the date and they said that it would be a $25 fee to change it. That was when I had them check to make sure I had done the reservation right and all of us were missing the fact that I had done it a month early.) read more

We were able to get a wake board boat at the last minute because of a cancellation. Unfortunately, they did not tell us at the time we made the reservation that the ski gates don't work on the boat. So if you're planning on surfing with no rope - you won't be able to with their boats. They did throw in the surfboard for no charge because of this. But it was disappointing to find this out - after we had reserved it and were picking it up. We also received a 10% discount for being a previous customer. That as nice.
