I chalked it up to season and Blue Sky being unaware until I picked up the visitor journal and noticed several before us also complained. Shame on you guys for not fixing already. 2) Secondary bedroom has a cute bunkbed. Unfortunately the top bunk is not able to be used because the frame has a major split. Very dangerous. 3) The driveway/parking is also very dangerous. We were told we could not enter neighbors property but there is not possible way to enter and leave without doing so. My husband is a farmer and is very use to maneuvering vehicles/equipment but found himself cussing every time we arrived or left. 4) We were issued 4 towels for 4 people for 5 days AND there was no detergent to wash towels. 5) Lastly, the hot water heater gave out after two showers (short showers). This left 1-2 people taking cold showers. As I said, the cabin has potential but the rental company or the owners need to do a better job keeping up with the issues!i

Our family stayed at Timber Trail Lodge, managed by Blue Sky Cabin Rentals, expecting a relaxing vacation. Instead, we experienced multiple safety issues, the most serious of which involved a loaded handgun being discovered inside the cabin. On Friday evening, our 8-year-old son came out of the bathroom and said, "I found something that scared me." He later told us he was tempted to touch it because he had heard a noise and thought it might belong to a "bad guy." Thankfully, he remembered the gun safety lesson taught by his school resource officer: if you ever find a gun, don't touch it, leave the area, and immediately get an adult. That decision may have prevented a tragedy. We went into the bathroom and discovered a handgun on a low shelf that was easily accessible to a child. My husband secured it so our children could not access it while we called for help. We immediately contacted Blue Sky Cabin Rentals' after-hours emergency line. The representative was apologetic but told us she didn't know how to handle the situation. We informed her that we were calling local law enforcement because a loaded firearm had been found inside the cabin. A police officer responded, took an official report, and confirmed the firearm was loaded. According to the police report, it was a Taurus PT-111 G2 with a magazine containing 12 rounds. We expected this to trigger an immediate response from management. Instead, no manager contacted us that evening. Aside from a follow-up call the next morning asking whether we had contacted the police, we were left to deal with the situation ourselves. My husband ultimately had to contact management again on Monday to discuss everything that had occurred. Unfortunately, the firearm was not the only issue with this property. The cabin appeared to have been inadequately cleaned before our arrival. We found dirty underwear and socks left under the beds from previous guests, excessive dust, and dead bugs in closets and beneath furniture. There were also several maintenance and safety concerns: * A nail protruding from a dining chair punctured a family member's skin. * The third-story catwalk railing overlooking the main living area felt loose and raised concerns about fall safety. * One of the beds collapsed under normal use. * We had no hot water on our first night. The company eventually issued a partial refund, and we appreciate that acknowledgment. However, a refund does not change the seriousness of what happened. As parents, we keep thinking about how differently that evening could have ended if our son had acted on his curiosity instead of remembering the safety lesson he had been taught. We are incredibly proud of him and forever grateful to his school resource officer for teaching children what to do if they ever encounter a firearm. We are sharing this review because families deserve to know about our experience before deciding whether to book this property. We sincerely hope Blue Sky Cabin Rentals reviews its cleaning, inspection, maintenance, and emergency response procedures so that no other family experiences what ours did.

All the cabins are uber dog friendly (sorry my feline friends) with providing free amenities - a large pet bed, food and water bowls, toys, treats & beach towels. There's no size, weight limits, breed restrictions, or pet deposits...where's the love for the Kats? The nearby Benton MacKaye Hiking Trail is easy to access during daylight & all pathways leading to the main road is gravel. We will be back to try another of the many cabins that the Sliding Rock Property Management offers. I strongly suggest looking at the rental terms & requirements before reserving as there are many to agree & adhere to.

Very misleading the directions we got was ridiculous we were coming from Chattanooga but their directions brought us from Atlanta. Why not just give people the physical home address with the street address and let them Google it themselves. You treat people as though they are too stupid to know how to Google the address. We had to end up asking local people where the specific road it was on was because we drove around a half an hour trying to find it with the crappy directions provided from you. It would have been so much easier if we had the house number the name of the road the house was on and let us Google it from our home. The 12 pages of fine print rules should be given to someone before all the money has been paid and they're locked into a contract they may not want to be in. Had I have read all those rules before you got my money I probably would not have agreed to it. I have cleaned hotels from Holiday inn Express to Roach motels on highway 19 in Florida. Nowhere I have worked has ever required the guest to have a checklist they're required to do. I paid an extra $200 over what the room was supposed to cost for cleaning yet my guest and I were required to strip the beds take out the trash load and unload the dishwasher.... All the cleaning staff had to do was do the laundry which consists of the sheets and the towels they apparently do not wash their comforters . So when you sit on the comforter you're sitting on whatever the last guest left behind. Their ad said lake and a mountain views all we could see were trees. Had to leave the property to see any mountains or lakes rivers anything. This was my first vacation I'm in my 60s it wasn't what I had hoped it would be. They say their dog friendly yet don't want any dog hair on the furniture the beds I brought my own blankets from home to cover all of their stuff so that my dog could be on the furniture . Not very dog friendly if my dog isn't allowed to sit on the couch or sleep in the bed with me like he would at home. Then when I try to bring this to their attention they blocked me on Facebook and ignore my emails they are not the only game in town guess I'll be checking out Big sky or somewhere else nearby there or maybe go to Gatlinburg next year. I wanted to come back to sliding Rock and rent something on the water but I'd be afraid what I would get would not match the photos they show I feel like that is false advertisement. The gas grill on the back porch I had planned on making burgers on it but they can't even bother to put batteries in it so that you can light it it had plenty of gas just couldn't light it. My roommate said it needed batteries same thing for the lanterns on the table I would like to have used them but they did not have batteries either. For what you charge your guest you could at least put batteries in stuff so that they can use it. Why show a gas grill if it is not where guests can use it. The cabin itself and all the little knick-knacks I but the photos of the outside did not match . You could have avoided this bad review buy a dressing my concerns privately but no you wanted to ignore and block me this is what happens when you choose to ignore and block your guest then I'll review I did elsewhere they basically came on there and called me a liar.

There was a nice view off the large balcony. We had a huge hot tub in the center of the downstairs level surrounded by glass. However, it was not in working order. There is a stacking washer dryer, but it is teensy weeny, and in the bedroom, and sounds like major jack hammer highway construction, seriously. Additionally, the indoor community pools were closed. The outdoor firepit was being used as a dog pooping area, and there were about 50 piles. There's hiking trails in the area as well as some nice towns besides Ellijay to visit in the vicinity, like Blue Ridge and Jasper. Fyi, February seems to be a rainy month.

Our first rental was the original "Dragonfly" cabin on the Cartecay River, but this time we carried guests and needed a little more room. "Bearfoot" provided that and more. I honestly can't think of any way to improve Bearfoot Summit. Dragonfly Cabin Rentals (Peggy and Darrell) will be our "go-to" source for cabins in the Ellijay area.

Just like your house, things break and have to replaced or fixed, how you handle it makes the difference. We had our annual Girls' Weekend trip planned. We stayed at Longview and had a great time. The view was absolutely fabulous. We were disappointed when we found the hot tub wouldn't heat up. We called and they sent someone out. It couldn't be fixed without a new part that wasn't in stock anywhere local on a holiday weekend. We were kept up to date on what was happening and when it would be fixed. It was fixed before we left. A week or so after our trip, I received a phone call from the property manager. The cleaning crew found a bathing suit in the bathroom and wanted to know if it was one of ours. It was! It turned out to be an expensive bathing suit and one of my friends was happy to pay the postage to have it returned to her. Give them a try! Remember that most people only leave a review when they are mad or feel like they have been wronged.

We go the mountains and rent a cabin each winter to do our yearly planning retreat. We have three fireplaces at home and know how to build a fire without causing damage. The cozy fire is the centerpiece of our planning meetings. In the hot summer months, it would not be an issue, but having a fire while in a mountain cabin during the winter is a must-have amenity for us. As long as the competing rental cabins allow it, we will have to go elsewhere.

I surprised my wife with a weekend getaway to relax and have some peace and quiet. That is exactly what we had, the cabin/house is in a remote area with beautiful veiws of the Blue Ridge Mountains. ( Our can was names - Blue Ridge Vista) The place was tough to find because it is off of the main roads and you end up taking a ride through dirt/gravel roads to get to your final destination, it reminded us of driving through the windy roads of Scotland or Ireland. (You may even run into an occasional sheep on the road!) The cabin was awesome, they are only a few years old, Granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances, 60in plasma TV, wireless internet, pool table, hot tub, fire place. It was modern yet still remote, you can have a romantic weekend or have a group getaway at these places. I would definitely be interested in going back and the rates were very reasonable ($150/night - plus a cleaning fee) The cabin was just for the two of us but it had three bedrooms and could easy handle 8-10 people. The drive into town was about 10 miles and you have a Walmart and your regular chain restaurants (Longhorn, Applebees, Ihop and others.) We went to an italian place IL Forno while we were there and I would not recommend going there. All in all we had a great time and would recommend this to anyone who is looking to relax or go with a group of good friends to get away and hang out for a few days. P.S. If you do rent these cabins make sure, and I mean make sure you have them give you very specific directions on how to get there. GPS will not work trying to locate the actual cabins.

Our stay was fine although the cabin was not cleaned and trash had not been hauled off. Then two weeks later got an email saying we were being charged $75 for loose trash. They provided a photo taken 3.5 days after our stay showing banana peels that were not ours in the bottom of an empty outdoor trash can. In spite of our email response that it was not ours they never responded and processed the charge anyway.

We found plenty to do and good places to eat if we decided to venture out. It was the perfect vacation getaway - and only a little over 1 hour from Atlanta! How great is that? We will definitely rent this cabin again!
