The Bear Claw can be pretty rowdy at night! They serve beer in a handful of flavours, and are jam-packed on anything remotely resembling a holiday weekend. Judging from the many nights i've been here, a fight breaks out about 20% of the time... not bad, if you're into that sort of thing. Last night, someone got really pissed at himself and decided to throw his fist through the window. Golly. The prices here are decent (compared to Los Angeles), but don't expect a lot of variety. The barkeep(s) are usually rather overworked, so don't expect prompt service either. There is a lively karaoke scene here, but you just have to find Tracy and ask him yourself... it's nothing official or advertised. Try to get him to play Kelly's "Shoes" again! (You'll have to bring your own CD.) Amenities: 1 pool table, ~20 barside stools, video poker, karaoke on most nights, outdoor smoking area with several benches and a small tent for the rain, and a 7-11 across the street. This is the best bar that I have been to it has an incredible vibe and amazing ambience here in crestline.

Loved the entire vibe for the first few hours of my visit. Cute rustic style saloon and everyone was chill. But things turned around after a few hours, of the regular woman customers whom I later found out name was Rhonda was giving me hateful stares. I was simply trying to have a good time, and she made the whole experience backfire. She was super colicky with the other regulars and eventually I was so uncomfortable I just left. Stopped by the Bear Claw after some food and had a margarita. The bar tender was a no nonsense girl that wasn't trying to even entertain our want for a blended. She said this is the bear claw you'll get what I make I laughed out loud and enjoyed a drink on the outdoor patio. Good people watching. A group of people were playing giant Jenga which was entertaining. I love dive bars like this - grungy and real people. It's a nice break from the LA scene. Which I don't really frequent anymore. I have been 86 from the Bear Claw you're correct about that. Let me tell you why I was attacked. Verbally I was slandered I was made to feel unwelcome. I kept trying to come back in there since how this is my neighborhood and I live here locally just want to be part of the community, I'm not a bad person I don't do drugs I don't get drunk. These people lied about me and all I did was try to find out why I asked all the right questions I took it to the management. I took it to the owners nothing was done and upon me asking why are they treating me this way? They just decided to throw me out. I didn't raise my voice. I didn't raise my fist. I didn't do a damn thing except for try to be a part of the community and be a part of the bar so when you say the bartenders are great, they're great, but you got to be sneaky to be appreciated by them. This place checks all the boxes of a great dive bar. Great prices on beer and spirits, pool table, pinball machine, many barstools, numerous TV's for sports, live, music, questionable clientele...even a cigarette machine. I may not smoke, but I support a person's freedom to destroy their own lungs. The bar earns five stars - the Karaoke Jockey of August 2019 earns zero stars - minus ones if that's possible. We drove from Arrowhead Lake on a Saturday because I was told by Bear Claw personnel that Karaoke started at 9 PM. We finally left at 10:15 because the KJ (who had finally got there at 9:45) showed no sign of getting ready to start. Until they replace the KJ with someone who actually feels responsible for showing up on-time, I could not recommend bothering with this place. This is very unfortunate because the live band, which was still performing when we got there early, was very good. The two servers at the bar were very good, the drinks and prices for them were great, and the customers were a wide and varied assortment of people on the mountain. If you are coming for a bar with live music - Do it. If you want Karaoke - not so much. read more

Cute little bar right across the street from a Mc Donald's. I came on a Sunday night around 10p, we had the whole bar to ourselves. They have a nice size bar for being a small place, pool table, outside patio with a big block jenga game, a jukebox and super sweet bartender. Bathroom's are a tight squeeze and there is only one toilet, but it was clean. A few awesome locals came in around 11 and were super nice. Owned the oil shop next door. The owners of this bar are EXTREMELY rude! Went on New Years Eve. Saw one of the owners in there and was a upset with them as I have been checking in with them for over a year for a dj position and they have kept putting me off. I made 2 demo dvd's of the music I play (videos mixed live) they have NEVER seen the dvds, she told me that they have had djs working for them that are more qualified than me. All of the dj's are in their 20's. I have had 37 years in the business! They still have my demo dvd's, won't give them back. Then she said "take your businness elsewhere bitch". I have 37 years in the San Francisco Bay Area as a dj and yet she claims her dj's are more qualified. Avoid this place....the dj doesn't have any idea of how a dj mixes music or videos, they find songs or videos through You Tube, doesn't mix, has dead air between each song. BUT! remember, they are more qualified than I am. Also saw quite a lot of minors in the club. Have heard about protecting your drinks as things can be added to them and frequent fights breaking out there!!! They play music from the 70's, 80's and rock n roll. Nothing but rednecks!! read more

We came on a Saturday night and HUGE MISTAKE! They have ridiculously horrifying customer service. Everyone was just so unfriendly. We came in with an ethnically diverse group of people and everyone kept staring at us. All of us (a group of 5) felt so uncomfortable and extremely unwelcome. I definitely would not recommend coming here at all if you're coming from out of town or looking to have a pleasant, enjoyable time. We even had the courtesy of ordering a few drinks and trying to have a civilized time, but it literally felt like they did not want us there for no good reason. We went to this bar because it was my birthday celebration weekend and we had an AirBnB in town, but way to kill our celebratory mood. This is the best bar in Crestline, well on the mountain that is. I love this bar and I am lucky enough to have it be my local bar. The staff is friendly, but they mean business. Drew and Debbie are my favorites down there so if you stop by tell them "hi" for me. If you don't like small town bars you won't like it here and chances are the locals won't like you. It is a must go to, but please don't be rude. It may seem like a big mountain, but everyone knows everyone. Enjoy shots and a mini pitcher while listening to the best karaoke on the mountain. I love the Bear Claw Saloon! It makes the small mountain town of Crestline complete. It's always a fun place to hang out and listen to music, shoot a game of pool or just chat and socialize with everyone. It's definitely the friendliest bar in town. I also love the fact that it's light and bright and clean....unlike some of the dingier places in town. The owners put a lot of effort into the place to make it the "classiest dive bar in town"....and very welcoming to everyone who lives here or just visits here. Born and raised on the East Coast, the Bearclaw is the first place that made me feel "at home" here on the mountain. That still holds true today almost 13yrs later. The staff and regulars are like a family, and they treat everyone who walks thru the door the same way. The drinks are good, the atmosphere is upbeat and fun, and the karaoke is well - what one would expect of karaoke! lol. It is definitely a local hole in the wall, and the best spot for visitors to stop in and get a feel for the local community. Most of the people I consider friends today outside of my work environment, I met at the Bearclaw. When my family and friends from out of town visit, the Bearclaw is always first on their list of places to go in SoCal. Went to the Bear Claw the other night. Seems to be a real locals spot as the bartender & actual customers were not very friendly. Seems the locals here do not like visitors. One in particular (while trying to cheesy pick up line later said his name was Jim) greets us by saying " You all better have your ID's or get out" . Well considering we had 8 people and two cars , and no where else to go, we cam in anyway. The local's in this bar must not see women very often because one after another came up to our group.
