She is very personable, very kind and understanding, genuine and just listened to my questions, concerns and answered them confidently which gave me peace of mind sending my son over to a school during the pandemic. We then went to the school for a tour and met Ms. Komala, our son's primary teacher. At first meeting, our son felt very comfortable with her and he never forgot her name even tho it took us about 4 months before starting in class- she sure gave him a good impression and really showed us how much she cared for the children. I have so much good things to say about the school. I have recommended them to my friends and coworkers who also had good experience with them. Overall, this is a place that cares about our children, they do not look at them as numbers like all the others. If you want quality education and a safe place for your children, this is it.

He started in the infant room at 3 months old, and has grown up with almost all of his classmates from infancy through toddlerhood! It has been amazing to watch his class grow together. At the beginning, I was nervous about heading back to work after my maternity leave ended and leaving such a young baby in the care of other people for 7-8 hrs a day. By the end of his first week at PSOC, I felt so much better and my guilt had subsided! The staff and his teachers empathized and were there to talk me through any questions or concerns I had. They made it such a smooth transition, and I felt confident leaving him in their care. Over two years later, I've consistently had great interactions with the leadership team, staff, and teachers. They adore my son, and the most important thing of all is my son LOVES to be at PSOC! He is happy and continues to learn at an astounding pace, always coming home with new phrases and words he learned at school, or art projects he completed with the teachers. COVID-19 has been challenging for all of us, but PSOC has went above and beyond during this difficult time. They have been communicative, transparent, and followed safety protocols. That's all we can really ask for, and I've been impressed by the way they have handled the pandemic. We'll unfortunately be moving to California this summer of 2021, and I'm already starting to look for new preschools for my son. It's been so hard to find somewhere as great as PSOC - we will miss them dearly! We've experienced every classroom from the baby room through the 5-year old room. The Director and Assistant Director are extremely understanding and compassionate. They really understand the challenges of working parents and they continuously strive to make parents' lives easier. The teachers are such loving people. They care very deeply about the children's growth and happiness. Every morning, at least three teachers hug my children when we arrive! Some of the teachers have been with the center for 10 or even 20 years. The classrooms are clean, vibrant and engaging. I love the constant updates I receive through the app. When my youngest was a baby, I could see when and how much she ate and slept. And now, I can see all of the books they're reading, the fun activities and trips to the playground. My children come home each day with stories of the art projects they completed, the lessons they learned, and the friends they are making. Many many many moons later, I had a friend who enrolled her kid in a private religious school and ended up moving him to public school a year later for the exact same reason I stated. The one thing that was awesome / appalling about St. Tim's was their utter disrespect for healthy school lunches in the 90's. They literally would cater our school lunches from McDonalds, Taco Bell and Pizza Hut. Oh memories.

As a parent you are always nervous about changing routines for your children at the 3.5-4 year old age. We sat and spoke to the director, Kara and she couldn't have been any better putting my wife and I's nervousness/hesitation to rest. To this day I still talk to her and we plan on using the after school care program when my children start going to the public school in 9/2015. I appreciate people who don't handle me with kiddie gloves or sugarcoat things. If you ask Kara a question, she will be honest with you and that is all I ask. My kids were slightly younger than the other children in the Pre-K class but that program was absolutely perfect for them. At their previous daycare, they weren't being challenged and as a result they were acting out at home. Within 2 weeks of being there, my kids were able to write their name and started behaving better at home, something the previous place in Springfield wasn't teaching them. They were always learning something new and it was shocking how fast they were catching on to things. When my kids went there, the teachers for the Pre-K program were Ms. Alma & Ms. Ereen. They were fantastic. Another great thing about this place is that they make their own decisions with regards to snowstorms and "cold" weather. As Kara told me, they do their best to always open on time since they understand parents have to work. I sometimes didn't bring my kids to school when it snowed when every other entity closes but they were open. I learned that with the bigger centers like this one and the one my kids currently go to (My kids graduated from the Pre-K program and moved on) is that they are always open in the snow and makes it easier to manage "life" when bad weather hits. I would recommend this daycare, Pre-K to anyone looking for something new in the Centreville area or moving to the area. As I said we plan on going back there in the Fall for after school care.

I had my son (4) and daughter (2) enrolled here, and am…read moreimmediately taking them out due to the following: 1) September 2022: My son was left outside with another 4-year-old and the teachers were all unaware. I found him when I went to pick him up. They claimed they would be investigating the incident, but then never followed up. They never formally documented this via incident report for my signature. Had I not shown up when I did, I don't know if they would have informed me of this incident. 2) December 2022: My son was exposed to sexually inappropriate behavior from an older student enrolled at KinderCare. The staff apologized and said that they would "setup a program that talks about keeping hands to yourself". Again, this was never formally documented via incident report for my signature. Had my son not told me this happened, I would not have known. 3) December 2022: My daughter has a life-threatening food allergy to sesame, and I provided the center with epinephrine, Benedryl, and specific instructions provided by her allergist. On her last day, I asked to have these items back, to which they responded that there "must have been a loss of communication" because the items expired in October (it's now December) and thrown out. I was never notified, which means that my daughter has been attending school for 2+ months without access to life-saving medication. Not only is this absolutely negligent, THIS IS ILLEGAL (look up Elijah's Law in Virginia). To say that I am furious is an understatement, and I hope that NO ONE'S child ever suffers because their system for keeping medication properly stored is severely flawed. If you have children enrolled here that need access to medication, go ahead and ask them to show you where it's stored and see if it's accessible. It's likely that they threw it away and never told you, and your child is in danger. My top priority is always and WILL always be the safety of my children. The above incidents are not a result of "accidents" that happen due to watching toddlers. These are preventable safety issues that could be avoided if the staff here properly cared for these children. If your children aren't enrolled here and you're exploring options, look somewhere else.
