The coffee was decent, I needed a touch of suger as it was a little on the bitter side but I can be a tad fussy in that sense. The food was actually delish, well sized & reasonably priced. The only reason it didn't get five stars was I question the cleanliness of the place, just the small things like cutlery , tables not wipped & well I may have found an eyelash in my eggs BUT I'm sure I've eaten more eyelashes than I am aware of. So nothing outright dirty or to write to food services about, again I'm slightly fussy with cleanliness so others may not even have noticed these small things. 3 days in the Yarra Valley and this trip I must say I struggled to find a good soy latte but…read moreHabituel hit the right spot.  Most impressed also with the baked goods on offer for breakfast.  We selected a delicious choc & raspberry muffin & sour dough toast with vegemite.  I liked that the toast came with the butter & vegemite on the side which is how we do it at home but isnt always the case in Aussie cafes.  Service was excellent & friendly.  Our only wish was that we had found this on our first and not last day so that we could have tried a few of the other great looking baked goods on offer (and had one of their excellent coffees every morning!)

My order was the Madcowes Hash ($18), the large croquette was crispy, kasundi mushrooms meaty, egg soft and oozing offset nicely with crisp watercress. I sat, saw the waitress passing in front of me and watching me two times, and after 5 minutes without getting any intention (at least maybe, giving me a menu?) I decided that, well, maybe it was enough. THANK GOD (or whatever I don't believe in) because I ended up here instead ! Decided to go healthy (that's impressive Pierre) and had the Mad Cowes chicken salad (as you could see in the pictures) and it was a freaking good as it looked awesome ! The seasonning was just perfect, the chicken was not dry at all, and... I HATE THE CUCUMBERS (ALL OF THEM) You don't know me, but it's a big deal, if I say to my friends that I ate cucumbers, they would die instantly. It's like Superman eating Kryptonite, or... Batman eating his dead parents ! (it's a big deal) I had a perfect lemon meringue pie with a marvelous Mocha and that was it, I'm in love. oh and add a friendly staff, and a wonderful view on the ocean. YEAH
