I was there 31st-March, with my son to find shoes at this store. I don't normally comment about…read moretrips in stores, but felt the need this time. While their employee was looking for my son's size, turned out the 2 styles he was interested in, didn't have them in 12 for either. When I told my son to take a picture of the info and shoe so he could look later at the online site, your employee laughed and told us... "Not for another 8yrs." And then proceeded to go on a long rant that thanks to the president, everything's messed up and now with this war. Going on and on. I do not come to a store to be lectured about how much an employee hates the president or what he feels the state our country is in and how nothing's going to be right again till the Republicans are gone. I took as much as I could till I finally mentioned, "This is what I voted for". At which he got pissed & huffed away. But not before he said.... Well I better not get reenlisted in this war, or I might take him out myself". This, because in his rant was talking about the president starting the war. Then he walked away, cussing the entire time. Including catching the word `b!+@%`. Though I do not know if that e for me or 'son of' was added first. I did not catch his name, but he was an older man with dark skin and white hair, with not an actual beard, just white stubble, and about to 6'. This was at 10:20am at the 11550 Lakeridge PARKWAY, Ashland store. So many things were wrong with him and this visit. From his ranting about his political views, the 'war' he feels we're in, that the company won't even be getting in any new shoes due to "Everything being closed down", to saying he would murder the president of the United States, to them cussing at/about me as he walked away, but more than loud enough for us both hear. As a note? I don't wear political items, and I will never bring up politics to a complete stranger. So I most definitely did not start him on his tirade. He walked up to us in the shoe department, and very shortly started in. Very disappointed to see such bad character, and vocalizating about killing our president. Not amused at all. Especially as we had to drive 45miles each way just to visit the shop. Will NEVER visit this store again. Especially when I can go to another huge store just like it down the street.

This is a large store(two levels) and plenty of parking. I like to go here and just look around…read more They have pretty much anything you would need for an outdoor experience. I have bought pants and shirts from here for a decent price, plus they give a military discount. They also have plenty of staff around to assist if needed.

We obtained three estimates for replacing our existing fence. Our last estimate was with Superior. They had installed the original fence some 12 years ago. He gave us a good estimate and we elected to go with him. We called him within an hour of getting the estimate. He told us the job would be done within a 2-3 week window.He was in a very big hurry to get our deposit on that Saturday evening, so we put it in the mail box as he requested. On March 11th he called and said the fence would be started on the 18th and would be completed on the 21st. On the 18th, my wife sent me text several times saying that he had not shown up. I called 3 times and left messages but never heard from him. The last message I left I expressed my concern about him not showing up, not returning my calls and him having our deposit. Upon arriving home Friday evening, I called him from my wife's phone and he answered right away. I was furious and hung up. After fuming all night and discussing the matter with my wife, I called him on Saturday morning and had to leave a message. The message was we decided to cancel the job and wanted our deposit back. I explained that we made this decision because of his lack of communication. Being concerned about my deposit, I called the county sheriff's office to see what I could do to insure I got my deposit back. The officer took my information and said he would get back to me.He called me back and said he left a message and informed me of my legal path. Within an hour, I received a text from the owner stating he put my deposit in the mail. He went on to whine about "the first time in 20 years of getting a call from the local police about a homeowner wanting their deposit back because a contractor is a day late starting a job". I simply replied this could have been avoided with communication. It's Tuesday and I'm waiting on my check. Let's hope it is good. 4/8/16 Well, I've work through numerous channels to get my deposit back, including the BBB. In this guy's last rebuttal, he continued to deny me my deposit. He actually had the nerve to say that he considered this matter closed and would have no communication on the matter. For those of your looking for reviews on Superior Fence, feel free to look them up on the BBB website. How he has an A+ rating is beyond me. Perhaps that will change after my complaint is closed. However, he is NOT certified by the BBB. The following is my response to the BBB on his rebuttal: Better Business Bureau: I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 11249635, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. In regard to the 72 hour cancellation comment. There was no opportunity or reason to cancel at that point. Dave told us he was 2-3 weeks away from starting the project. We agreed to this time frame. We did however decide to cancel within 72 hours of him not showing up or returning our call on the day he told us he would start.. Regarding the 4/4/16 BBB response from Superior This is the FIRST TIME he has mentioned that he had purchased the supplies to complete the fence job, his justification for keeping the deposit. Upon investigation, we learned that he never called Miss Utility to have our yard marked. A ticket was never established. The bottom line is Superior Fence never showed up (even a day late) when he said he would start. He didn't return any of our phone calls (which seems to be a recurring theme in other complaints/reviews we've read), thus creating the reason for our concern. Thus, we didn't see the point in waiting a few days or even a week to see if he would show up. Since I am the customer submitting this complaint, I don't believe they have the control to "consider this matter closed". I have taken matters into my own hands to bring resolution to this matter. There is a Virginia legal code 18.2 - 200.1, Failure to perform promise for construction , ect., in return for advances. under this code, keeping such deposit constitutes felony larceny. I sent Superior Fence a registered letter explaining the events and requesting our deposit. Under the code, the company has 15 to to comply. After such time, the county sheriff was contacted. They contacted the Commonwealth Attorney, who was ready to put out a warrant for Mr. Eilertson's arrest. The Deputy gave Mr. Eilertson a courtesy call and explained what he was facing. He suggested that he settle the matter, but said it was only a suggestion. Within 2 hours, I received a text message, from Superior Fence, informing me that my deposit had been left at my front door. Short of it is DO NOT use Superior Fence......time process was way…read morelonger than promised, fence quality is inferior, and communication with him was a challenge! Want more? Read on........... Well, this experience did not go how I expected it should go when contracting a fence for my yard. Firstly we contacted him to install a fence that would enclose the entirety of my property. He brought over pamphlets on the types of vinyl fence he offers which he orders from a separate company. We picked a fence with slats that had 2 inch gaps so our little dog won't be able to put his head through and escape. He assured us that our dog won't be able to escape, gave us a 2 week estimate time frame for install, and took our deposit to order the fence parts. In 2 weeks we tried contacting him leaving a voicemail (because he never answers his phone, I think he screens his calls) he EMAILED back that the fence was not ready yet. Left more voicemails and emailed him for the next 3 weeks to get status updates because he did not keep us informed throughout the process, nor answered his phone. Finally we had a tentative day for install, which BTW was forecasted for afternoon rain. I waited all day and he finally showed up about an hour before it started to pour down. He didn't knock on the door to let me know he was here, just went to the back and started laying all the fence parts out......then just left. No "I'll be back tomorrow" or any kind of explanation on why he was so late. Anyway, emailed him again and he replied he would be back on Saturday to finish the work. Showed up Saturday to finish the fence. Again, just went out back and started working without a hello. After fence was installed he left without putting on the gate. Said the concrete had to set before the gate was put in. Ok, understandable. Upon further inspection of the fence I realized it wasn't installed according to what we discussed or was planned. He installed the fence a full foot short of the back boundary of my yard. His measurements were definitely off. The vinyl fence isn't the best quality as well. The slats pop on at the bottom with the top fixed on by glue instead of being insetted to the horizontal slats. I've had to pop a few back in already.He showed up a couple days later when we were not home and installed the gate which we noticed after we got home. We realized the gate was not wide enough to close the gap properly and was hanging at the fullest extension of the bolt. Then I got an email from him saying he would be in the neighborhood the next day, told me to put a check for the balance in my mailbox and he would swing by and pick it up. When I asked about why the fence was short of my property line or what was up with the gate he would not comment. Email silence. And guess what, my dog can get through the fence by the posts because the gap was larger than 2 inches! I know this because he decided to go out on a field trip exploring the neighborhood! I DO NOT recommend Superior Fence......unreliable, material does not meet expectations, communication is seriously lacking, and end product was not exactly what was contracted and planned. My opinion is he is inexperienced as a fence contractor without any sort of people skills. I suggest if you are looking for a fence contractor pass this one up and look around for someone else. I made the mistake of working with him because he was recommended by the builder's sales person. I should have listened to my gut and looked for someone else. 2 stars instead of 1 because there IS a fence installed and I'm hoping I can fix it to the standards I need it at, which of course is going to cost more money than the almost 5 grand I already dropped on it. UPDATE: Spring is here so time to turn back on my irrigation system. But guess what, Superior fence dug/drilled right through my main water pipes to my system!!!! Water was gushing out everywhere!!! This fence job keeps costing me more money! People, do your research and hire someone else that you've checked into. Read reviews, go by and look at their past work! Don't pick this company unless you want a huuuuge headache!!!
