I'm still trying to figure out what my friend and I did to rub the workers off the wrong way. We went in with the idea to create matching bracelets together. Now this wasn't the first time we went to the store. The first time we went the workers were extremely friendly and HELPFUL. When you go into a store like this without a clue where to start - you can be easily overwhelmed. This is where direction and assistance is beneficial. Anyway - it seemed like we were bothering the workers when we needed help. Specifically the tatted caucasian woman with the short bleached blonde hair. She was not a fan of us at all. We inquired about pendants, beads, string - you name it. We needed help. Once we figured out what we wanted and purchased our material, we asked if we could work on our bracelets inside the store. We were told no. They let us know we could go next door to the coffee shop. Sure. Went next door, worked on some stuff. Went back to bead weaver and asked to borrow scissors. We were given looks. Then we asked if we could throw the small card board case for the superglue away and the blonde woman said we couldn't use their trash... So again - we weren't made to feel welcome. Not 100% sure what we did. We were for sure excited to make bracelets and the very first time we came to this store it was such a great experience thats why we came back. But after this last time I can for certain say I will not return and will instead go to Michael's. read more

Nice store. A little overpriced. The reason I rated it a Msybe is that they won't let you use the bathroom. I am temporarily handicapped and they still denied me. You have to walk to the grocery store in the shopping center and use their bathroom. Shame on Beadweaver. read more

Very cool spot and great find! Went in on a whim and left with the desire to start making jewelry! There are really fun and unique charms, not just the typical beads, but really whimsical and cool things! Rebecca was very kind and knowledgeable. She helped me with options for earring hooks and never once made me feel unwelcome for being a complete beading newbie. I really appreciate her insight! Be advised that they can show you the ropes and answer any and all questions you may have, but due to spacial limitations, you can't actually make jewelry in the shop. I lost time in this place, as well as money, but I'm hoping to at least earn the money back with the beads I purchased. The time lost is lost for good, but for good reason: this place has a stunning collection of beads and for the serious beadsmistresses, it would be easy to blow half a grand in an afternoon. At least two hours after entering this store I walked out with a small bag stuffed full of beads and crimps and claws and wings and cinnabar and sterling silver and a handful of new ideas begging to be made real. The generous collection of sterling silver, gunmetal, and cinnabar beads were luxury purchases for me, and from the southwestern color scheme, which is dazzling on any skin tone (turquoise blue and green, rust, cinnamon, orange, and paprika), to the myriad of closures of all kinds, including at least three different styles of magnet closures and clasps, though I absolutely did not need to spend $400 on beads in Santa Fe, how could I help myself? I love this store and the people that work there! The inventory of all kinds of beads, chains, and jewelry-making pieces as well as gorgeous yummy finished jewelry and other unique and eclectic art is wonderful! The staff has helped build jewelry right on site from pieces that I picked out and they've done some awesome repairs of favorite jewelry I didn't think I would be able to save. I get gifts for all my family here- of course it always averages a couple for me to every one for them! I never walk out empty handed, there is always something fun and unique to admire. This is my go to bead store in Santa Fe. What a great selection of turquoise, seed beads, metallic leather cord, and silk cord in every size and color. There is always something unique that I find when I'm there. They have everything that any beader needs from beginner to professional. I am not a craft person and I do not work with beads but Beadweaver is one of my favorite places to visit and drool over the lovely creations- and maybe get my grandmothers pearls restrung, or design a necklace with the expert help of the friendly, creative staff. There are cards, lovely bags for your precious ritual items (or for your makeup) The earring selection is out of this world- I was particularly taken with the crystal skulls last Halloween. Of course, if I where an artist working with beads, this would be my ultimate Mecca. Well now I think I was profiled...I had my work shirt on that had the reservations name on it. And it's Indian Market weekend too. If I could give them a negative stars I so would! I spent my lunch break going to a bead store in Santa Fe (mind you I do NOT like Santa Fe at all). The stores name is Beadweaver located at 503 old Santa Fe trail. I just needed some AB beads in and out real fast, so I thought. There were people cashing out when I arrived and they were being well taken care of from what I could hear. The customer was even allowed to leave their merchandise there while they walked around town (from what I understood their purchase $170. Something). I located the size 11's and started looking for the beads that I needed. I couldn't find the red AB so I asked for help. He went and looked for a few seconds through some beads on a cart then walked away from that. I had to ask him if he found them he plainly said no. I said let me look at the website maybe I gave you the wrong number. By this time he was behind the counter while I think it was the owner on the phone ordering food for them. Neither of them paid attention to me as I was standing right in front of them, but she was on the phone and asking the guy who was helping me crispy or soft chicken tacos. Crispy he said. Once that transaction was completed I told him the number 425A is the correct number he's like let me look that up in the computer. He doesn't go to the computer he goes to a project, I think, picks up pliers and starts bending metal so I just wait, and wait, and wait (a 5 minute wait, mind you that's a long time for someone who is waiting). So I stand right in front of him and he goes oh yeah what's that number again. I just look at him and place my beads on the counter and walk out. read more

I have to say that this is my favorite new bead store in Santa Fe. I was in earlier today and I had a great experience there. I was already bummed after having gone into a bead store across town that was just not fun. THE VISIT HERE MADE MY DAY! One of the ladies behind the counter was really sweet and helped me by making a few chains for me. They have a good selection and they don't make you feel like you are an imposition. Every time I have been in someone has always said hello and has helped me to the right section of the store. If I ask for an approximate count on a vial of beads they know it ( they don't tell you... I don't know, we don't count them) In the future I will be recommending this shop to everybody. It will sound a bit strange but I was so happy when I left that I was a bit teary eyed (my fiance thinks I'm nuts) but after my earlier experience across town this was the total opposite and it was so nice and refreshing to be in such a positive, friendly place. read more
