A friend and I came in on Wednesday to take advantage of their 2 for 1 schnitzel deal. At 7pm the building was nearly empty, only a few other tables were occupied and I don't think there was anyone in the bar. We were seated immediately.
The interior is dimly lit and the decor is reminiscent of The Golden Girls set, but not in a bad way. The lighting could be brought up a notch, as you can tell from my photos without flash, it's really quite dim. Additionally, the air conditioning may be an older unit as my friend and I switched seats so that I could get in a jet of cooler air and he could get out of it.
Like most other restaurants in this country, this place does not have table service. You have to go to one counter to order your food, then go to the bar to get any kind of beverage, including water. On this sleepy night, service was quite quick and even our food was brought out quickly.
Neither of our dinners were especially hot - hot enough to have been cooked, but not piping hot - and we could immediately start eating. I had the King Avocado with hollandaise schnitzel and my friend had the chicken parmesan.
The avocado with hollandaise was pretty good, if not a bit bland. I appreciated the bacon slice to provide a good balance of flavor, and there was a healthy portion of avocado smashed across the top. The fries were crispy and the little salad had a nice vinaigrette.
My friend said his chicken parmesan schnitzel was just ok. The red sauce he thought was likely from a can, but he felt like he needed to rush through eating to get it down before it got any colder.
Nearly immediately after we finished eating, our plates were bussed.
Normally I'd give just 3 stars as the overall experience was rather mediocre, but for speed of service and that they got a bit creative I felt with their menu and the pricing, bumping it up to 4.
Added bonus - this place shares a roof with a drive through liquor store so you can unwind at home after your dinner. read more
