Contracted to have our house painted, now I'm full of regret. Last year Beach painted and made major repairs to my neighbor's house in 2 weeks. They did a really GREAT job, so we hired them. Unfortunately here we are at 5 weeks, nowhere near done. They send a subcontractor to paint. Everything is a mess. We have fewer repairs, yet it takes 3 weeks JUST to get the estimate. Forget about getting the work done!! Here's the rub-- they were the most expensive bid we got, but we thought they were worth it. I am here on a holiday weekend and the house is a disaster. No one is managing this job it seems. We are spending $32k for a small house and this is what we get? We reach out to Beach and hear nothing. We rented Ashley's Retreat through Beach Realty. I would label this property as total false advertisement. The pics and description were completely inaccurate. The property was deplorable. Extremely dirty, aged and rundown. And smelled very badly. The AC did not work on the second floor. Carpet was brown as was the furniture. The exterior was just as bad. Totally overgrown with weeds. There were giant spiders everywhere inside and outside. The outdoor shower was not even reachable bc it was totally infested with spiders. The outside deck had piles and piles of dead midges. The wood was aged, splinter prone and there were nails sticking up everywhere. Totally unusable. And worst of all, there was a giant dead rat on the stairs going into the house. So gross. The ocean view was blocked by overgrown dunes. I did question this and was told that they can't touch the dunes. Then why include pictures of the property as having clear ocean views. They should include the obstructed view on their website. I was not letting my family stay there. I don't know how anybody other than college kids would want to stay there. We were able to rent rooms at the Sanderling. Beach Realty was very nasty and unprofessional about the whole situation. Total guns drawn, immediately that we are 'not getting out of the lease'. When we didn't even bring that up right away. They claimed that they would fix it all. I went back two days later...AC was still broken. With the exception of the dead rat being removed, all other issues detailed above were NOT addressed at all. I will be contacting an attorney. Don't waste your money people. There are tons of realtors that can help you with your rentals. Don't gamble with Beach Realty. We spoke with other people during our stay and apparently Beach Realty properties are notorious for being dirty and run down. And Beach Realty being difficult to work with. read more

This property was described as Arcadia 4101, located at 141 Carrol Drive in Duck, NC. BR& C upped their stock to two stars from one star because they managed to get our cable/internet restored within two days after we arrived, which apparently for this company, is a major accomplishment. BR&C was willing to make us wait until Thursday to get the cable and internet we paid for (flat screen TV's in every room!), but my wife insisted that someone from the rental company wait at our rental property for the cable guy to show up (they expected us to wait for a cable guy to fix their problems while on our vacation). The cable and internet was restored when we returned to the property at 4:00 pm on Monday 5/15. If they had properly inspected the property, they would have realized that the cable/internet didn't work and could have had someone fixing the problem instead of us have to call three times to get them off their asses. The rental agent copped an attitude with my wife - like we had no reasonable expectation of getting what we paid for. Next problem - didn't have towels when we arrived. We had to call three times before towels, that are included in the rental agreement, were delivered. Next problem - filth was on the mattress cover. But they took care of it. Someone showed up with a lint brush and ran it over the cover to clean it up. Really freakin' gross. Next problem - the dishwasher didn't work. There were only three of us, so we didn't try to run the dishwasher until Tuesday. I kept getting error codes, but finally tricked the piece of crap into working. I didn't have the same luck on Thursday, so we called the rental company at 11:00 am (no answer) then 2:00 (finally got an answer). We were told that someone would be out to take a look at it. Someone showed up on Friday while we were at lunch. They left a message that they'd have to order a part, but no indication as to when they would return. The dishwasher still wasn't working when we left Saturday morning. Next problem - holes in the screens. What's the point of having screens if you can't open the windows because bugs will get in? Fix your damn screens! The lock on the door is a piece of crap. Water damage on ceiling which has obviously been repaired at least once before (uh, pay to have it done correctly). Dried dog crap on the deck. The main problem I have with this dishonest company - the photos they present of the property vs the actual conditions. They show a deck with cushioned deck chairs which were non-existent (but they did have dried dog crap!) What's the point of having a deck that overlooks the only view that you can really claim (which is pretty lame), but don't have a damn deck chair to sit on? "Hey everyone! Come on out and STAND on the deck!". The furniture in the photos of the living area that they show on the rental site have been staged - there isn't nearly the amount of room that they try to portray. The dishes and glasses in the cupboards were dirty and had to be hand washed because the dishwasher didn't work. The kitchen has been renovated and the countertops and cabinets are nice. The refrigerator door is not balanced and slams against the laundry room door if you don't hold onto it. The half bath upstairs had been renovated and was in good shape. The "master" bath is really a Jack and Jill bath and is really, really small. The shower is about the size of a cruise ship shower. All in all, I'd never stay here again, and would only recommend this property to someone I really didn't like. I can't say I blame the owners - they're at the mercy of this crappy rental company. My advice - steer clear of these jokers. They collect your money and run in the other direction if you have a problem. Honestly, this was the worst place I've ever rented in the OBX. When I shell out over $2100 for a week, I kinda expect the vacation property to be a little nicer than my home. I would have been better off staying at home - my cable works, my internet works, my dishwasher works, I don't have holes in the screens, I don't have weeds surrounding my house, my refrigerator door is balanced, and the lock on my door works without having to mess with it for a few minutes. read more

I sure wish I had read these reviews prior to renting "CLEARVIEW BY THE SEA - D3501". Will NEVER rent thru them again. Began with the Uh-Oh feeling at check in when the front desk people were not particularly friendly. Got to the house and the house was DISGUSTING on the outside. Bugs everywhere and we picked up an entire black trash bag of beer cans, mens underwear, womens bikini bottoms, soda cans etc. from the property. After two days the septic stopped up and overflowed in the downstairs bathroom. The entire system had to be pumped out and I wasted about 1 & 1/2 days dealing with getting answers from Beach Realty. I left a very expensive diamond necklace on the dresser when we left and of course it was not turned in and Beach Realty did not seem concerned AT ALL about it and the fact that their cleaners were dishonest. Of course the review that I sent to Beach Realty does not show up on their page.....never again..... Loved the area the home was in tho, Four Seasons in Duck. read more

All went well with the reservation, and very pleased with the home we rented, which was 0123 Go With The Flow. Just disappointed with the lack of friendliness upon check in and misguided directions to nearest grocery store. I have also never rented a home before that did not have toilet paper, bathroom, kitchen or dishwasher soap provided. Is this a east coast thing? From Oregon and have never rented without those basics provided. read more
