My sister actually recommended John and his office to me and my fiancé so we decided to take the plunge. We actually had to cancel last minute the first time. I felt awful but they were very understanding. The office is quaint in a strip mall in Hillsborough. It was clean and nicely decorated. John and Craig reviewed the forms we completed and greeted us with smiles. They asked us if there was anything else bothering us. They were both very kind and professional. The room had a mild fragrance and was comfortable. John was very attentive and noticed when I recoiled when he massaged the side of my thigh. He gave me advice on how to relieve the tension as well. The prices even without the Groupon are reasonable. I'd definitely go again.

I had booked an appointment yesterday evening at this wellness center after reading some great…read morereviews about John. I have to say I did not experience any of what I read. The customer service was very poor from the time of check in to the time of check out. When I first arrived, John just gave me a quiet hello then gives me some papers to fill out and didn't say much else before taking me into room. During the massage, I felt some discomfort when he would knead my body with his arms because it felt like he had new grown hairs on his arms that were rubbing against my skin ( like when a man shaves his beard, then the new hairs start growing back- that's what it felt like rubbing against my skin). I couldn't really relax because of this. I did mention this to him at the end of the massage and his response was "That's the first time I've heard that." Didn't even apologize. Just gave a short nonchalant response. Plus, usually when I a get massage, at the end, my massage therapist offers me water and ask how the massage was and lets me know the problem areas they found during my massage, like knots in my back, tightness or inflammation in certain parts of my body and they would recommended stretches, ways to position you body while sleeping to help with hips and joint discomfort. There wasn't much communication after the massage either. John, did not offer me water, did not mention any problem areas he found in my body, nor did he give me any type of suggestions for any daily care like stretches, exercises, etc. He also never apologized for the rubbing hairs feeling on my skin. It was like he didn't want to be bothered with me anymore after the massage. He struck me as somewhat antisocial and someone lacking in customer service. This will definitely not be my go- to place for a Therapeutic massage.

I've been to many spas - the most high end and all the way down to the "was this worth the journey…read morefor a massage" type places. But Hillsborough Massage Therapy is as good as it gets. No, it's not over the top fancy with robes and a tea lounge area - but you do not need that if the massage therapist works wonders on your body and provides the type of massage you are looking for. I started coming here during the pandemic and let me tell you - they take sanitation procedures seriously. I have autoimmune issues, so this was a big deal for me. I got cupping along with my massage and these were the best massages of my life. I'm dreaming about having one right now. The massage therapists really knew how to work your muscles and tendons and not push them too far. I have chronic pain and this is one of the things that gives me relief. I've never had a massage that was so in-tuned to my body and soothing my pain. So, seriously, forget all the floofy spas and get the best massage of your life here.

This was the first time I had a massage ever. I have nothing to compare it to (I figure people…read moreshould know that to be fair.) Pros: The person who did the massage, May, did an awesome massage. She took time to make sure it was pleasant and not too hard or too soft. (I am a wimp and it hurt like hell but felt so good at the end :). ) She was patient and kind. Many people in previous reviews mentioned only a curtain in the room. The room I was in (and it looked like all the others too) had a sliding door -- I think people call it a barn hanging door or something -- I can't remember what it's called. It was clean and looked nice even though it was a small room. (Who cares? I wasn't claustrophobic or anything. It wasn't THAT small.) It was a bit chilly but once the massage began I felt comfy. Really comfy. It was perfect. There were no scents to drive my nose nuts which I really appreciated. May took her time and did what I thought was an awesome massage. I did the half hour massage and it was just long enough. Cons: May had her phone with her in the room and answered it once or twice. Also towards the very, very end another customer came and she left to greet them. I wasn't thrilled with the break. Truth be told, the massaging she did while on the phone was equally good as when not on the phone. So it didn't matter in quality but I wanted no phone. Maybe I should have expressed that. That may be my fault on that, dunno. She was the only one there and came 15 minutes late to my appointment too. I am very punctual so it annoyed me but she gave a quality massage so I overlooked it. Knowing that, next time I will know she may come late and deal with it. I'm a nut when it comes to being on time. Overall, I really had a great experience and would return. I would probably pick a little further into the day when others are there though and see if the massage experience is different. She was so patient with me when she knew it was my first time. I did some awkward things without realizing it (like keeping my shoes on) and she just took them off nicely and put them in the corner. I'd also hold onto my glasses next time or something because it was dim in the room (for relaxation I assume...and it was good....but I really can't see anything without them. She did not look strong but those hands and arms of hers are really, really strong. I was really, really impressed. Totally worth returning IMHO.

It wasn't like any other hot-stone massage i received before. This one was actually a combination of swedish, shiatsu, SE Asia and reflexology "highlighted" with hot stones. I didn't need to tell Jessie, my therapist, about the tension in my shoulders. She found it and got rid of all the knots. She spent a considerable amount of time and pressure on my shoulders. The massage was very thorough and very relaxing. The only negative point I have is that the massage rooms aren't "real rooms". They're three walls (not completely to the ceiling and the 4th wall is a curtain. Because of this, you can hear a lot of outside noise which may distract you from fully relaxing. But this was one of the better massages I've ever received, and half the price of a cruise ship or other resort spa. I'm definitely returning here soon.

I would love to hear from the owner on the practices they enforce at this establishment. Needless to say, will not be coming back again and would advise others as well.

Massage was deep and pretty decent…read more Cons: no AC until I complained how hot it was, the laundry being done and washing machine thumping from being off balance (several times) loudly next to my room, 3 different massage people tag teaming to do my massage, being able to hear every other person getting a massage or coming in/leaving the store and not getting what I asked for. I requested a 45 min foot massage and 45 min neck/shoulder massage. I got. 90 min full body massage. The ability to communicate is terrible. They ask "this ok?" During the massage for pressure and you say yes or no but I think that is the extent of their ability to understand what you say. I only came here because my regular place in Westfield was booked same day but I don't think it be coming back. It wasn't a very relaxing environment.

I normally bring a $100 bill and just give that and tell them to keep the change as tip. I took one star off because when I was checking out today I wrote $10 as the tip (which I always do) and the guy, who I think is the owner possibly, looked at me weird and tried to tell me how much a 90 min massage SHOULD be tipped. I don't appreciate that. As someone who's worked as a server, you should NOT tell your customers how much they have to tip and make them feel bad for not tipping what you expect. It just didn't feel nice. The only reason I will keep coming back to this place despite this is because the massage itself is AMAZING. Other than that one time moment, I love this place. Today I had Chunli (i'm sorry if I spelled that wrong) and she was AMAZING. She would check in with me and ask me if I'm okay throughout the session which I appreciated. She hit all the points of my body that really needed attention and it's like she just knew which parts needed extra attention. It was fantastic and I feel so much better afterwards. They use hot stones and a hot towel during the session. The area is very clean and when you enter they give you slides to wear when you walk in. They play calming music in the rooms which is nice. On weekdays (mon-thurs) I've been able to walk in and they can take me. Today is Friday and I had to come in at a certain time for them to take me, so it would be smart to call ahead of time and ask if you can walk in or if you need an appointment. Overall, this place is still a solid go-to for me because the massages are consistently incredible and worth it. One uncomfortable checkout interaction knocked off a star, but the quality of the service keeps me coming back.
