The wine flights were a plus and in the end, I purchased a few red bottles of wine. We all had a lovely experience. As we live in Trenton NJ, we plan to return next year!

Pros:This vineyard is a delight for history lovers--it was built in the early 1800s and has served…read moremany purposes over the years, including a boys' school, a Union troop garrison during the Civil War, Washington Academy, a courthouse, and even a dairy farm. The tasting room is spacious and comfortable, with tables and couches perfect for relaxing with friends. There's also a charming gift shop, along with a selection of cheeses and snacks available for purchase. Cons:I tried the five-red tasting for $12, but none of the wines were especially memorable. The pours were inconsistent, with some wines served as one sip, some two, and others three. The cheeses for purchase are pricey, with 4 oz costing $13. The most significant issue was the wine glasses--each sip had a strong odor reminiscent of dirty sponge water, indicating that their glass-cleaning process needs major improvement. Overall: A charming vineyard with rich history and a comfortable tasting space, but the wines didn't impress and snacks are pricey. Great for the atmosphere, less so for the tasting. Based on this experience, I rate this establishment a 2.5 out of 5.

We'd been without power all day when we finally called the number for Riverview Inn here in…read moreColonial Beach late yesterday evening. The owner answered from his home, and kindly offered to meet us there and sign us in for the night. The inn was built in the 1950s and was recently completely renovated, clearly with an eye to stay accurate to the mid-century history of the place. Our room was large, with 2 beds that had multiple soft pillows, fluffy comforters, and soft warm throws for extra warmth. The bathroom is modest in size, but with original black and white tiles on floor and walls, charming. We luxuriated in the warmth of the room, the hot showers we took, and the coffee we made with the coffee maker. After a great night's sleep, we were more than ready to face our cold house (luckily the power is now back on). Many thanks to the owner, and know that whenever we have more guests than space, we will highly recommend the Riverview Inn.

We stayed in Tansy, which was very cosy; small bathroom, but that didn't bother us. Beautiful, peaceful setting and a very classy B&B atmosphere. The owner was kind enough to show us some of the unoccupied rooms; next time we may upgrade to one of the cottage-style rooms with the tubs. I took some knitting out to the end of the pier and sat out there for a while watching boats come and go to neighboring properties - what a wonderful way to spend an evening! Breakfast was tasty too - tell them when you book your room if you're not a meat/egg eater, though. I forgot to, and they still did a wonderful job accommodating me. It was an easy, comfortable walk to the waterfront area and several great places to eat were nearby as well. I'm always on the lookout for vacation spots where I don't have to drive much to enjoy the area, so I was thrilled by how easy and fun it was to get around on foot. I think this might be my idea of heaven. I'm already plotting a return trip for the fall.
