I loveeee tanning at beach bum! I only go for about 2 months a year. Place is kept clean, staff is friendly. My tanning lotion lasts me a very long time. The only upset is that the bed I use, has a misting feature during each tan. There have been several instances on where more water needed to be added and I could not enjoy this feature I pay for. It really ruins the tan experience. Each employee while cleaning the bed should check the water level to make sure it's not running low! read more

Its nice that you have done all these updates and a price hike was expected. Except then you removed all your great deals and perks . For example EARLY renewal which allowed members to renew their membership before their last session of their current package for the same price. Then you took away the ability to buy a package that was on speacial and put it on hold. Me and my wife used to do this regularly with a bunch of your deals. Beach Bum used to get about 300 to 400 in package purchases from us that we would put on hold and use the next up coming summer. This year you will get 0 zero from us and others our age who we've also spoken with who are not happy with your new practices. So the search for a new tanning facility begins for us and others. It is ashame as usual a New York city company takes over and ruins a great place with its greed. read more

Got an airbrush tan here with Nicolette. I had previously messed up on a self-tanner application and she was really helpful and evened out my mistakes. She reassured me that she knew how to fix it and even sprayed my legs twice. I was very impressed with the service. Have been using Beach Bum for years but never got an airbrush, it was definitely a great experience. Overall, the salon as a whole has never disappointed. Their spray tan machine is pretty good though sometimes I've gotten an uneven tan from them and their beds (when I used to use UV tanning) are always great with new bulbs. read more

I was not impressed with this place. I got a gift card from a friend for one free session, who chose not to use it. Should've known better! I usually use another tanning salon, but I thought who could deny themselves a free session? I was wrong. I went to the front desk and no one was there. So I waited ... and waited ... and waited. About ten minutes later a teenage boy with a very dark tan came out to finally help me. He was not professional. He made me sign up which was quick, but I had to wait again. This time I waited for a bed. After a few minutes he just told me where to go. He did not show me how to use the bed, and did not suggest any lotions or products. I asked him to clean the bed again, because it looked dirty. There were streaks on it. After he cleaned it, he ran out. It took me a few minutes to figure out the bed, and by that time the bed came on automatically! I was losing tanning time! I scurried into the bed, didn't know how to work anything and I definitely did not relax. The room was dirty. The rug had little pieces of tanning lotion packets on the floor. Gross. When I left, there was no one behind the desk again! I wanted to ask a few questions, but after waiting a couple of minutes I just left. Parking is tight but it is doable. I imagine it gets congested during peak hours/peak times. Easy to spot from the road. Overall a negative experience. Go elsewhere. read more

I have been taning for many years during the winter seasons and have finally found the best salon ever at beach bum at first was leary because it felt it bit franchises put to my surprise the manager Sharon made all those feelings disappear quickly. This is by far my favorite beach bum location. It's a bit out of the way for me (there are closer locations near my house) but I go out of the way because I prefer this one. It's SUPER clean inside, & the staff is helpful, knowledgeable and friendly, especially Fran! Went to beach bum for UV for the first time today & had a great experience! I got the bronze level, buy 4 get 1 free for $40. The girl working was very nice & explained the difference between the levels & the benefits of each one. I used a bed because the stand-up was taken and I didn't feel like waiting. I never used a bed before so I was confused, but when I came out to ask the girl for help, she was really nice about it & didn't make me feel stupid for not knowing! The place was clean & they have goggles, stickers for your body & towels for you to use, no extra charge. I read the previous reviews & was apprehensive of coming, but it looks like they fixed everything that was commented on in the negative reviews. read more

Idk why this place has so many bad reviews, it's like every other tanning salon! I love the versaspa pro, its a spray tan machine and leaves an even natural glow! Not streaky or orange and I am very pale. Minus one star because the rooms were not restocked with barrier balm, disposable bottoms, or hair nets both times I got a spray! read more

ive gone to many tanning salons and have had great experience except for this one. i walked in and the workers were not welcoming. I tried signing up for only 1 month since i was going to be going away, so i wanted to get the cheapest package, according to the girl that worked there she said that the cheapest package were cheap beds and they would burn my skin.... i didnt comprehend if she was trying to not sell me the service or what. i ended up getting the cheapest package, my skin was totally fine once my month finished. The place needs a make over, the beds are old and they smell. speakers are broken in majority of the rooms. read more

I Come Here Pretty Close To Every Day! Most Of The Staff Is Very Nice And Friendly. I Would Think It Would Be Smart And Safe If There Is Always Two Workers On Staff At All Times. For One Person To Be There Alone, To Much For One Person. Especially That The Nice Weather Is Rolling In. Between Setting Up The Customers, Cleaning The Beds And Stand Ups And Cleaning The Bathroom, Which Needs Some Attention!! And Taking Care Of The Laundry (Towels) ... I have been tanning at Beach Bum for years and I hate to see these negative reviews. I usually go to Plainview and Greenvale. Staff is always kind and helpful. Of course there are some glitches at times, but stuff happens. I love this place and would tan at the Commack location. I love that there are so many! Stop complaining. Some girls at the front desk are not welcoming. Rude and have major attitudes. One girl in particular is extremely unfriendly and I have heard her talk badly about costumers on numerous occasions. Came in here on a quiet Friday and the girl who I've dealt with before was working the front desk and was so snobby when I asked simple questions about a new bed i upgraded too. I went in for a the norvelle spray tan yesterday, which is what I usually get when I'm there. My tan is always smooth & even. The staff is always so nice & friendly. I happen to forget my hair tie yesterday & the girl behind the counter gave me one of hers. Its something so little, but so sweet that makes you feel good when someone goes out of their way to be kind. I highly recommend this place. read more
