They say The Buck Stops Here, well, I stopped there. I happen to be a woman, and loved the…read moremerchandise in this store. It was so refined. I knew they carried Retro51 ball points. I about had a pengasm right there. But the Stetson hats were gorgeous as well. There's wallets (manly looking, but very finely crafted), money clips, and beautiful wooden containers to put on your dresser, holding your belongings. Part of the store has political bobbleheads...I want one so bad. Wonderful political paraphernalia that I loved so much. There's not many stores that catch my eye on Independence Square. This one, I'll return to, if just for the pens and bobbleheads. It will probably be a Saturday after I'm paid, cause I could easily spend quite a bit in this store. The employee was very kind and helpful, and Credence Clearwater Revival played on the stereo. It's an amazing store, and not just for men.

This shop deserves a lot of credit. This is the kind of place you don't really see. When I had last…read morevisited I remember all the selections of hats and classic memorabilia. It was super cool to somewhat step into a time machine and visit such a past, pure Americana. This is the kind of place where a boy can become a man. You can find a lot of vintage looking "things" and simply stroll around. I have to say the best part for me was the couches, you can sit in and relax a bit. And if I remember correctly Mr. Truman himself had gotten his first job at the spot next door when he was just a little boy. Remarkable location, a great way to honor someone and seriously, a beautifully crafted shop.

In honor of #ThankYouThursday where we pen a review for a local fav, The General Store in downtown…read moreOP was the first place my mind headed. This gem of a store has been so clutch over the years for picking up gifts. Some of the people in my life are, um, a little hard to shop for, but when I come in here, I always come away with something great. It's all so well-curated; some gifts are classy, some funny, and many are versatile. It beats the socks off of going into a big box store in a million ways. Being in a charming stretch of a walkable area adds to its appeal, and the staff is always friendly. They also have Pickwick candles which are some of the best in town. These soy candles will last multiple seasons and almost all of them smell amazing. Cheers to this shop, they're doing it right and have saved my bacon every December since they've opened.

While I went there for a Trapp candle leather/tobacco for my son (which smells like leather and tobacco and is really nice) the amount of board books for children is phenomenal. I could easily spend $100 on board books there. And not just regular board books, but interesting topics like the Kansas City board book I bought. 3. Haha the cluster eff towels, cluster eff pencils, Get the eff to sleep book (which I bought). The unique gifts and trinkets are bountiful and wonderful. I laughed out loud plenty of times, including at the Dog in Chairs gift cards. There's plenty of things to see and buy. Thanks to Adam and the Yelp shop local event, The General Store is a must see. Oh I forgot pictures, sorry.
