The place was very clean and organized. The ambiance felt refreshing and relaxing, very much like their products themselves. I was greeted with a warm welcome by two very friendly ladies who were wonderful introducing and explaining the menu to me. I first ordered the Golden Glow Smoothie, which contained my favorite fruit, Mango, among other things. It was served in a glass Mug and tasted very nourishing and refreshing. I sat at a table near one of the windows. And I enjoyed drinking the smoothie while looking outside through the window. Some other customers came in and ordered different Wellness Bowls. As I was about to leave, I noticed their Wellness Bowls and was attracted to how appetizing they looked. So I asked one of the servers to explain the different ones they had. Since I was still hungry, I then ordered a Chocolate Peanut Butter Wellness Bowl, and enjoyed it all the way. It was so refreshing and nourishing. I'm glad I stopped by this Juice Bar, highly recommend it to all of you reading my review, and plan to return in the near future, especially during the hot days of the summer, or when I feel like having a refreshing boost to brighten up my day.

And Elderberry's in Salem, Virginia, is a perfect example. This casual café located on West Main Street in the historic Downtown Salem, near Roanoke College and the Salem Farmers Market is not your ordinary café. Housed in an attractive contemporary building painted purple with lots of windows and their logo, which is their name written with a special font (also named Elderberry, characterized by its rounded, playful, and slightly stretched appearance) in bluish-green color, this casual, cozy, women-owned, local restaurant business, specializes in smoothies, wraps, salads, fruit bowls, grain and mac & cheese bowls, freshly baked goods, special coffees, signature lattes, as well as in catering box lunches. Besides this, they also sell various unique merchandise, such as, bee butter, a variety of scented candles, tumblers, stickers, the CHEMEX Six Cup Classic coffeemaker, and Elderberry's Hoddies, just to name a few. I arrived for the first time in my pearl white Lexus on a late Wednesday morning to have a late breakfast-early lunch, and was able to park in one of their parking spaces directly in front of the restaurant. As I walked in the restaurant, I was fascinated by the many homemade, colorful menu signs all around the place. A young, friendly, gentleman, wearing a Mohammed Ali black t-shirt and a Little Green Hive black knit cap, greeted and welcomed me behind the ordering counter and took my order. I ordered a medium Mocha Coffee (made hot with whole milk and dark chocolate), and a Turkey Bacon Wrap. My order was rang up in their modern credit card terminal and I paid with my Harvard Alumni World Mastercard. As I waited for my order to be made, I looked around the place and suddenly watched as the employee was making my Mocha Coffee. It was like an artist creating a work of art. And I was lucky to be able to record it with my cellphone camera. I invite you to view my photographs accompanying this review to get a better sense of the place and the quality of their food and drinks. The Mocha coffee was served in a simple yet elegant white cup and had the nicest design on top. But even though it looked fabulous, when I took a sip of it, it tasted extraordinary! Like none I've ever had before. And I have had many Mochas in many places. One time in a high-end fine dining restaurant, the manager sent one of their employees to purchase a bar of high-quality chocolate to be able to make me a Café Mocha because they didn't have one listed in the menu. The Turkey Bacon Wrap was also very good. Made with fresh ingredients from the tortilla of the wrap to the fresh items it contained. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that I would find such a quaint and one-of-a-kind place here, and experience such a unique and extraordinary dining experience. I'm looking forward to returning and I heard they will be opening one in downtown Roanoke soon.

Little Green Hive is a woman-owned and family-operated coffee shop with multiple locations in…read moreDowntown Roanoke, Grandin Village, and its newest location in Daleville Town Center. A short while ago I had the privilege of reviewing its first location, in Downtown Roanoke, the largest establishment in Crafteria: Handmade Food and Goods, almost in the corner of S Jefferson Street and Church Avenue. Today I decided to visit the Little Green Hive in Grandin Village, located on Grandin Road in the heart of Grandin Village, right next to the 7-11 there. It shares the same entrance to the building where Rockfish Food and Wine Restaurant is located. After you enter a small foyer, the door on the right takes you to this Historic Grandin Village Coffee Shop, that serves Coffee, Smoothies, Smoothie Bowls, Fresh Juices, Breakfast Burritos & Bagels, and fresh pastries such as Fresh-baked Scones, Muffins, Cinnamon Rolls, and Large Chocolate Chip Cookies. When I entered through the white french door that led to this Coffee Shop located in a small yet very cozy space of a Victorian building with beautiful original hardwood floors and a lovely wide window with a long counter table and high chairs facing out the window looking out towards the sidewalk, I was simply amazed at how well by using different color paints for the walls, a white furniture counter, blackboards with color chalk menus, and contemporary yet comfortable furniture, they have created a cozy and inviting space, very appropriate to contribute to the dining experience itself. At the ordering counter, a gentleman employee warmly greeted and welcomed me with a smile. Then he took my breakfast order. I ordered a Bacon, Egg and Cheese on a plain Bagel Sandwich, a large Caffè Mocha, and one of their famous Cinnamon Roll, which by the way I had seen how they make them from scratch when I visited their Downtown Roanoke store. Another of their employee, a young lady, was the one who prepared the items ordered and the would place them on the pick-up table when ready and call the name of the items to be picked up and taken by the customer to their table. As I sat down waiting for my food to be ready. I noticed the positive chemistry emanating from the other customers there. A few young ladies who looked like friends were having breakfast and chatting at the window counter. An midage gentleman was seated in one of the relaxed and comfortable, leather chairs up front and listening to his music while he enjoyed his coffee. An older wise gentleman was serving as a mentor to a younger what looked like college student. And a group of four older but graceful and energetic ladies just arrived and were seated down at a table getting ready to have a pleasant breakfast meeting, while enjoying their coffee and breakfast treats. This restaurant was serving the community well. I could feel it in the air. While on its walls, there were artworks from a local artist hanging with a name and price tag and information on the artist with a QR code to the Artist's website and instructions on how to buy these and other of her works of art. While all this was happening I had already picked up my breakfast and was enjoying it at my table. Needless to say that everything tasted delicious. From my Mocha Coffee that had just the right flavor, to the Bagel Breakfast Sandwich which was fresh and soft with fresh ingredients, to the Cinnamon that was so sweet. I invite the readers of this review to also look at my photographs and video-clip accompanying the review to better appreciate this place and its food. And I highly recommend that you stop by and try it. For I can assure you that when you do, you are up for a one of a kind Coffee Shop dining experience.

The cafe is a decent size, wide and open. There are tables on one side of the cafe and sofa seating on another side. We sat at a big elevated table with bar chairs that looked out of the cafe. Service was friendly enough. Would visit again for coffee and light bites again.

When I saw them I instantly parked my car and approached the truck. The menu looked really small, but they say they rotate their menu a lot so who knows maybe they won't have these items next time. I looked at the menu and saw that they had spring rolls! When I got to the window the lady at the register told me they ran out of the pork ones so I got three vegetarian spring rolls and a spicy tofu rice bowl! Service was really friendly. The food came out pretty fast. Now the overall meal was quite pricey even for a food truck. Each spring roll was $2 and the rice bowl was 8.99. So I brought it back to my place and was ready to chow down. I started with the spring rolls, and man were they good. I never had Thai spring rolls before so I was a little surprised, but they had noodles in them! Spring rolls I would say 5/5 a must get item. Now for the rice bowl it looked appetizing so I went in for the first bite and noticed I hit celery... It always shocked me when I ate Asian food how some places add celery to something. I am not a big fan of celery in Asian food so I took it out and kept eating. The sauce was spicier then I thought it would be. So I struggled trying to finish. What was amazing though was that green cilantro sauce they had. If I could I would just buy that sauce it is amazing! The tofu was also cooked well. I give the rice bowl probably a 3/5. Overall, I gave the rating of 4 because I just averaged the scores. I say if your going to this food truck, definitely get the spring roll. It is a little pricey, but out of the two items I thought the spring roll was far superior. I'll definitely come back to try their spicy pork rice bowl and the panang curry.

Heard great things about this food truck from other people but was not very blown away or overly impressed, however, look forward to trying other menu items. Food Quality: 3 stars Ordered the Spicy Pork Rice Bowl, which as AVERAGE. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. The pork was cooked well, not dry/overcooked, and had plenty of kick from the spicy tomato sauce, but felt like it was missing something. Maybe not enough sauce? The cilantro-jalapeno dressing was good and I wish there was more, drenching the dish. All of this was over a bowl of white rice. The Spicy Pork Rice Bowl costs about $10 after tax, which isn't bad since it is deceptively filling. Although I probably won't try this menu item again, I don't regret trying it and look forward to trying their other items. Service/Experience: 4 stars No problems with the service/experience. They rotate their location throughout the New River Valley area, from Blacksburg, Christiansburg, Radford. They post their menu items and schedule on their website. The menu items posted on their website is their entire menu, however, they select a few items off that list to sell for that day. Food came out relatively quickly and the workers were friendly and helpful. They do accept credit/debit cards which is convenient. I visited the food truck when they were parked at the Auto Spa in Blacksburg, which has plenty of parking around the area.

And Bean Bliss Coffee Bar in Salem, Virginia, is a perfect example. As I drove by the window display of this quaint and one-of-a-kind coffee shop, I couldn't help but to think what kind of secrets that shop held. It wasn't just coffee; it was an experience, a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. Once inside, its rustic design and cozy decor, created a warm and inviting atmosphere, in which to relax and enjoy an expertly crafted coffee, with a food item imported from local providers. Its walls showcased local artists' work, and its small living room with a sofa and coffee table, in the front of the shop, made one feel relaxed and at home. The owner herself, a friendly and very hospitable lady, welcomed me behind the counter, and explained how she wanted her coffee shop to be a place where members of the community could come to relax, work, and catch up with friends. When it came time to order, I ordered a couple of Bacon & Cheese Frittatas, a Cherry Danish, and a Mocha Coffee. Everything was amazingly delicious. While I ate there was another customer working on his laptop computer at another table, and a young lady customer arrived, ordered her coffee and breakfast and went to enjoy it at the comfortable sofa and coffee table area in front of the shop. Before I left, I went to the back to use their restroom, and before I reached it, there was a blackboard wall full of well wishes for the owner of the store, handwritten in color chalk, from customers of all ages. As I was ready to leave, I thanked the owner for her hospitality, and also wished her well. I highly recommend this Coffee Shop and encourage all those reading this review to give her your total support.
